On the one hand, I had a great experience at Ma Thai Massage in Tucson. On the other hand, I'm annoyed I don't live in town because I can't be a regular. Ma Thai Massage is a legit massage spot in town. It was a little hard to navigate to their space above Trader Joes but I think it was worth the journey. The staff are super friendly and gave me and my wife fantastic massages. We got a basic intake assessment to identify pain points. Being a huskier guy, I was a little worried the lady working on me wouldn't be strong enough since she was so small. Let me tell you, looks can be deceiving. She destroyed the knot on my shoulder and back. We left there feeling 20x better. Ma Thai Massage is a must-visit if I'm ever in town again. read more

The massage itself initially seemed fine, but the experience turned concerning due to poor communication and what I believe was improper technique. At one point, the masseuse pulled both of my arms backward while applying forward pressure to my back. This caused immediate discomfort in my left shoulder. Since then, I've experienced persistent shooting pain down my left arm that has lasted for months. There was little to no communication during the session about what was being done or whether the pressure and movements were appropriate. This made it difficult to prevent or stop what ultimately led to an injury. I strongly recommend better communication with clients and more caution with aggressive stretching or manipulation techniques. This experience has had a lasting negative impact on my health. read more

This is an absolutely stellar Thai massage place. I've had two very long massages with Kate -- wow -- I travel and I get massage many places -- this is one of the best Thai massages I've ever had -- Kate is an absolute gem and a star. The depth, the knowledge, the understanding of the body, she just intuitively feels what it takes to get the tension out. The massage is strong but nothing hurts afterwards. I wish we had Thai massage like this in my town. I will drive for 7 hours just to get a massage with Kate. Kate -- thank you so much -- I will be in Tucson again once the heat cools down and I will come and see you -- I didn't make it before June again, sadly. I've had massages with other practitioners there and they were great also but Kate is my favorite. One of the most soothing, relaxing but also firm (and safe) massages you will ever receives. Amazing! We traveling after 7 days packing a house and beat up we had a couples Thai Swedish massage and honestly was the best massage either of us have had ever! Had many massages at resorts, spas and private masseuse and this was hands down the best. The staff on the phone down to the masseuse was friendly, pleasant and spoke fluent English. The facility/room wasn't as grand or spa like as some high end places but adequate and the full-size table for each was the most comfortable I have been on. I highly recommend Liz as husband agreed his was best massage ever. Yupin was fantastic, really working on the spots I highlighted as well as entire body! We were vacationing in Tucson and thought it would be a good idea to get a massage to help relieve us from body tenseness and to relax and settle us properly into a vacation mode. I looked up some places online and decided on Ma Thai and book a 1 hour combo massage for us and was not disappointed at all. The prices were very reasonable ($70/hr/person) and we were able to get our therapists to massage with the strengths that we preferred (strong, medium, soft) and focus on the areas that needed the most work. For me, I did a strong massage and was very happy with what I picked. The pressure was solid and spot on and the combination of Thai and oil massage was perfect. It helped relieve my tension...and made me feel great with the hot stone and oil massaging on my skin as well (what a bonus that you get a real massage, a foot soak + scrub, an oil + hot stone massage all in one!). The massage was also so professional with proper room and music to set the mood. I also love that at the end of the massage we all get a good bottle of water (Fiji!) to go as well. seriously the best massage I've ever had in my life. I have previously tried to book appointments and I've done a walk-in, but they have been extremely busy and I can see why. I woke up in extreme pain, neck, shoulders the worst headache ever and just felt like crap. I called as soon as they open and they were able to get me in later that afternoon. It was easy to get there since it was nearby, my house and their instructions was very clear since its on the top level. The gentleman that answered the phone texted me instructions, and the gate code. Overall, the atmosphere was very clean. I was very impressed, but what I was most impressed about was their quality of massage. it was one of the best massages I have ever had in my life I felt 100% way better when I got out of there. suri the owner was not there as she was at another location. but I had read a lot of reviews about her so I had really wanted her, but I was completely impressed with the girl that I had. She was amazing and very experienced.Liz and Wuu was very professional. it was so good that I have now ditched my regular place, which was rubs Massage and I have now scheduled my second appointment. I even called my sister and encouraged her to go to the other location in Thornydale and try to get in to see Suri. my advice is do not lay there in pain and try to live your life. Made an appointment today for a 90minute thai yoga massage. I've been wanting to experience authentic thai yoga massage & I was not disappointed. I was greeted warmly by the whole staff and I filled out a questionnaire which notified them of any problem areas. They soaked my feet while i waited in the lobby. I had Siri as my masseuse and we got along well! She talked here & there but continued to check in to ask me if the pressure was ok. My hamstrings were sore and she withdrew but I told her to go ahead. Lol. She even brought me a bottle of water during the session. I felt relaxed an a giant bed with overhead bars for to go grab on. The sheets & bed smelled like fresh linen. Looking forward to returning. They only have 3 rooms so they aren't able to accomodate large groups. read more

Many people rave about Ma Thai, but I will never return. I found the massage painful and the therapist seemed to think that there was no gain without pain. I left the massage feeling okay, but within a couple days my left shoulder area developed numbness, and I had neck pain. I went to the chiropractor 3 times the week after the massage and expect to go a couple times this week. I did agree to being walked on, but had no idea how painful it could be and asked the therapist to stop, but not soon enough. Even my scalp massage seemed like bone on bone. My husband also developed pain after his massage and regretted being walked on. I would be very careful about choosing this type of massage. I have talked to someone else that also did not enjoy the massage. Be very careful. read more

What an amazing massage place! I have had a few massages before and they basically did nothing for me. I left MA THAI relieved and relaxed, the woman who works here is so sweet as well. She asked me to try body walking and it was so impressive, she was able to relieve tightness in my lower back by using her whole body. She made me feel very comfortable the whole time as well. My mom loved her massage as well, we did a couples massage in the same room! The use of hot stones was a great addition and they finish off your massage with Fiji water which is such a nice touch!
