When you book a 60 minute massage, you only get 50 minutes of actual treatment. And I've timed it the last couple massages I've gotten there and it's been less than 50 minutes. I've made multiple mentions and complained because I got manipulated into getting the membership which you cannot get out of. First massage I got I felt extremely rushed. The last one I had she talked the entire time and I made multiple mentions that I did not want to talk. Would not recommend this place to anyone. read more

This is not a "my experience sucked" type of review- just a bit disappointing. I had received a gift card for any service and decided yesterday to go use it on a Tone Brightening Facial. I was very excited and was scheduled with Kathy. When taking me back to the room, she kindly asked if I needed to use the ladies room before we got started (of course I did so I quickly went back to the restroom). While washing my hands I saw they had a flyer with a QR code, saying " Scan our QR code, follow us on Facebook and receive One Free Enhancement to your service". I thought "wow, cool!" scanned, followed the page and returned to the room. Kathy and I started talking about my skin and concerns and I told her I was there for the tone brightening facial but she recommended the microderm infusion (come to find out later this service was more expensive than the tone brightening facial). I had then mentioned that I saw the flyer in the restroom, showed her that I had followed the page, and tried explaining what the flyer said about the free enhancement. I'm not exactly sure if it was because of the language barrier but she looked at me quizzically as if she wasn't understanding, didn't know about the flyer, I'm not sure, but no recognition about the free enhancement service. I did not receive an enhancement. I tried asking questions throughout my facial about skincare products, order of usage, other questions I had for an esthetician but sadly got minimal information, explanation, etc. My gift card should have covered the facial that I went in there for plus gratuity, but sadly at checkout, I ended up paying more because the facial I got was more expensive. I was working at the Massage Envy location in Paradise Valley, Tatum and Thunderbird, for over 2 years and recently got fired. Get this: someone I worked on in June 2023 decided to file a complaint against me and they fired me based on what they call "zero tolerance." I DIDN'T do ANYTHING wrong but they sided with her. Why did she wait so long and why did they accept her complaint after 2+ years; what was she waiting for??? Massage Envy really treats their therapists like junk. This year NOBODY got the annual raise even the long-term therapists. And their sessions AREN'T a full hour or hour and a half: the actual hands on session is 50 minutes or 80 minutes respectively allowing 5 minutes before and after the session to get ready or to get dressed. Really not worth it and it cuts into our ability to really give a thorough treatment. SO I highly DISCOURAGE anybody from doing business with Massage Envy. read more

Seems like the service you get is not worth the price. A few months back I decided that I should strat going to get a massage more regularly to deal with stressful work, and so I signed up for the monthly subscription which gets you 1 credit for a 60 minute service (massage, facial, etc.) a month for $80. After going 3 times now for the massages, and once for the facial, I personally don't think that it's worth the $80/month, but the monthly subscription you are locked into it for 12 months, so I just need to wait it out another 7 months or so. read more

Several horrible experiences here prompted me to never go back! Years later, I'm still getting harassing emails text messages and phone calls! They even admitted to me today that they sent out text messages to their "do not contact" list. But they'll make sure I'm on their do not contact list. I said why on earth is there a do not contact list if you're going to choose to contact them? that's when I was hung up on! Called back to be chastised and blamed by the GM who said she was listening to the entire conversation and I was at fault here! Horrible business in every aspect imaginable. Do not use massage envy! Very disappointed in the customer service of this business. I had a monthly membership which I was not utilizing. I called to cancel my membership last year and was told that I could actually freeze my account so I don't incur charges but I can still keep my free massage credits. I checked my bank balance and since February I have been charged $65-75 per month. I called to discuss and was told that the freeze is only good for 6 months. I was unaware of this, and this may be my fault as the paperwork said this but I was not told this. When I asked to talk to the manager I was told they weren't available so I asked them to take my card off the file and they refused to do that. The manager called me today to basically tell me that there is no refund possible and even though I haven't set foot in the facility in almost a year I would not be getting my money back. That is fine and I understand that, but I would hate for anyone to use this business when it's clear they care more about profits than their customers. Very very disappointing and will never be using a massage envy massage place again. Shame on you massage envy for caring more about $$ and contracts than people! Do not schedule a massage with Paul. Thank god I spent a few minutes talking to this guy before undressing and being trapped in a room with this weirdo. I told him I did not want oil in my hair, and that I wanted to do my full hour (50 min) face down because I just wanted him to focus on my back that I had tweaked the day before. He stared at me and was sighing and huffing and puffing and I finally asked "is there a problem? Why are you looking at me like that?" His answer: "you just have so many rules it will be hard to do my job". I grabbed my purse off the hook and said NOPE. Thank god. I've been to their Elliott Tempe location and this one was convenient to my area. Located in a strip mall that has seen better days, your body will see better days inside the spa. Clean and friendly check in staff. I did find my favorite human in the world. Ask for Karlo. Or actually don't. He's all mine. He is magic with his hands. He knows muscles like a phyiscal therapist would and more. Look at him, he's pretty fit. I trusted him since I injured my shoulder and he knew exactly how to ease the pain. Even suggested great exercises and movement for me to manage the pain. I think the monthly membership is not bad if you use it often. If you are not looking for resort ambiance, this is really a good option. Otherwise, pay the nonmember prices and come as your schedule permits. Treat your body like it belongs to someone you love. This ME is located within the strip mall area on the SE corner of Thunderbird at Tatum. It's one of the smaller locations, but it's clean and the employees are friendly. I had a great 1 1/2 hour massage with Enrique. His technique and pressure were perfect and he was able to mix the deep tissue and Swedish, just the way I like it. He wasn't chatty. After confirming that I was comfortable with the pressure, he allowed me to relax and enjoy my me time. I fell asleep on the table, which is always a good sign. Most ME locations call you 24 hours in advance to remind you of your appointment. This location doesn't do that, or didn't with me. For "normal" people, this isn't an issue. But my schedule can get hectic, so I always appreciate the reminders. Aside from that eensie-weensie concern, I enjoy coming this location and am looking forward to my next appointment. read more

I had a appointment for 90 minutes massage. It was my third one at this location. The first two times I paid $98 and this time they asked me $117. I told the person at the desk that I didn't want to pay more than $98 but that I would come once a month. She said that it was the price to pay if I don't want to be a member. Got it! My point is that I had this appointment set up over a month and if they did not wanted to give me the service for that price they could have given me a warning saying :" Heidi, let's do it this one more time but from now on, the price will be $117. Instead of that they just let me go, upset. They lost 98 dollars to the business and $30 tips to the therapist. But my masseur tonight was Jasmine, she knew exactly how to get after my stress knots and helped to alleviate lower back pain with sports stretching. I have had sports stretching aide before and do stretch on my own in the gym but she really knew the length of time and correct pressure to use. I have 12 credits equal to $780 in payments and can't seem to use them. I've been a member for years but the past 2-3 years, the service level has gone down tremendously. Cancelled appointments with no notice, therapists no longer working there, etc., Seems every time I find a good one, they leave. Today I had an appointment at 8AM that I booked 6 weeks ago (that was the soonest I could get in with my therapist of choice). I arrived this morning to be told that all appointments for that therapist were cancelled as of Tuesday. Though they said they called everyone - I received no call or v/m. Even if they had - how about you book me with another therapist at the same time? Why would you do that to someone who had already waited 6 weeks??!! I was extremely disappointed as my shoulders had been hurting pretty bad and nothing was compensated over this mixup. She went ahead and gave a full body massage but put this warm compression under my neck which felt good at first but at one point I had to ask to remove it since it made my neck so stiff and soar :( she massaged it out and I could tell she felt bad about it, I went ahead and got dressed and went to front where o walked out to a bunch of drama and a client who had received a facial who cleverly was unhappy and looked awful esp for just having a facial I would never get one there after that hot mess but the main reason I'm giving a low review is I was not asked how my service was nor was I offered any kind of membership info not that I would have taken it after he massage I received but the girls at front were just flat out rude and unprofessional the girl checking me out was over listening to the angry customer next to me rolling her eyes he was not Trying to be pleasant in any way I was not given a receipt for my transaction or thanked for my business for $96 that included the tip I would never recommend this business based off the customer service or lack there of that is given as well as feeling like I've been in an and felt worse walking out of there then when I arrived. read more

The thing I love about massage envy not only can I enjoy 60-90 min massages, but I often go just to have Elle stretch me. So important to maintain flexibility as well as the benefits of massaging on a regular basis. Elle, is very knowledgeable about stretching to decrease the tension, or knots that I have as well as checking in during the massage... Always asking about pressure, if an area is sore. She is very professional and I feel she wants to help the clients get the full benefits from her massage. Relieve stress, tension, increase circulation. The front desk is very helpful with making sure you are informed about the essential oils that you can add to any treatment and the different benefits each have. I have utilized several Massage Envy locations during my membership and this one is closest to my house. I average a massage every month and a half or so -- sometimes more often. I have three therapists that I prefer but unless you book several weeks in advance (not practical with my schedule), they are rarely available. My issues: The walls are thin and you always here talking, doors closing and general noise during the massage. I found this to be true with every Massage Envy I have tried, so sound-proofing must not be part of the equation. Almost every time I check in I am asked to fill out (again) I health history. Then the therapist asked you the same questions before starting the massage. I filled it out - READ IT and get going! This is a waste of time. Scheduling: I had a massage cancelled a few hours before I was scheduled. I had a 90 minute massage start more than 15 minutes late (I was there early, waiting) and then finish as if it started on time - in other words paying for 20 minutes of massage I did not receive. I always book a 90 minute massage - several times (and at different locations as well), I discover either when I check in or when the massage finished that I was booked for a 60 minute massage. I was not over-charged in these instances, but it is a let-down when you are expecting one thing and given another. Final straw - two weeks ago I called on Saturday to schedule a massage for the following Monday evening. I did not receive a reminder call so I called to confirm my time as I was driving to the location. I was told I did NOT have a massage scheduled for that night. After a little digging, it was discovered I had been scheduled for March 6th - almost 6 weeks away! I had to ask for something to make up for the mistake - supposedly 30 minutes extra "credit" has been added to my account - I feel that the next massage should be comped. Then I asked for the manager to call me the next day so I could speak about the scheduling issues (and other issues) - NO CALL! At all! No one has contacted me since. Memberships, lotions, upgrades, etc. Also, lets say you buy their stupid membership and don't use your monthly massage. So, suppose you want to give that massage to somebody else. That will cost you a transfer fee. Whoever came up with the Massage Envy idea is brilliant and probably a billionaire right now. Massage Envy I'd give you the name of my favorite massage therapist, but then I'd have to kill you. Back when I had a big paying job, I used to go to the Camelback Spa as often as I could. It's luxurious with awesome amenities in a gorgeous setting. Well, Massage Envy is NOT that. However, for those of us who are more money conscious, Massage Envy offers a wonderful experience. Massage Envy is located in a strip shopping mall. When you walk in, it's a pleasant environment and friendly check-in staff. After you sign in, you wait in comfy chairs until your masseuse calls you back. Each therapist has a copy of your chart showing your preferences and past experiences. They'll also ask you if you have any problem areas that need special attention. Then they'll step out of the room while you get ready for your treatment. Most of the masseuses will ask you about the pressure and your comfort. The massage table also has a built in heater, should you become cold. The lighting is soft and the music soothing. All in all, this is a pretty awesome experience for $49 a month for your first massage and then $39 for any other massages you receive during that same month. They also have a family discount plan. If you need to use a different location, even out of state, your membership allows you to use the services of more than 600 Massage Envy locations nationwide. read more

I have tried this place out 3 times. The last time I went it was only because my sister gave me a free massage there, otherwise I would have passed. This is the thing, I love deep tissue and when I say deep, I mean deep! I have a lot of pain in my back and shoulders and if the massage therapist is not really digging into my muscles, it pretty much erk's me! All three times I went here, I had to keep telling the therapist "deeper, Deeper" They never could get deep enough. I don't know if it's because they are massageing way too many people and their muscles are sore, or is it that they just don't care? I do however like their prices and the fact that they are on time when they go to take you back. But I think it's more important that you get the massage that best fits you and your problems. It's a hit or miss whether you get a good or bad therapist and you have to learn to ask for specific ones~ the good thing is you can almost get an appointment last minute. BUT at this particular location, the staff seems to have forgotten they are a massage place and not a used car lot!!!! I came out of the massage not entirely happy since the guy that massaged me was a bit I don't want to use the word weird, okay, weird, okay, to be kind~ not to my liking. But I decided I would still be pleasant and pay for the massage . . . at the counter, the girl checking me out just would not let me go without arm twisting me to sign up for membership!!!! She told me they were offering a membership special that was for THAT day and if I walk out the door, the special was expired. Even after I said no I was not interested multiple times, she continued to strong sale me and would not return my credit card to me!!!! I left feeling upset and very tense, which totally negated the massage that I just received AND I also did not get my credit card back! I had to go back to get my card. What a hassle. I went to this massage envy after a pretty bad injury. I really need regular massages so the membership made sense. My therapist was wonderful and really worked my trouble areas. I was in intense pain and I felt almost completely better. I continued doing the stretches she showed me over the next few days and now I have really felt a major change. I will continue to see the massage therapist there for the next few months and hopefully it will really pay off. I only take away one star because they use appointment time to talk about what you need to do, the desk attendant asks you want you need and so does your therapist. I don't object to this but I do object to it taking away from your appointment time. I have been to many spas where you are told to arrive 15 minutes early to check in and speak with your therapist. They should use this method here so customers don't feel they need to purchase 1 1/2 hour messages to get a good massage. read more

Membership expired at February, still had one more massage credit to use and was told can be used 60 days after expiration. Called in the 60 days period to set up a massage and was told the credit expired because they count it since last payment and not from when membership expired!!
