Customer service and management experience wasn't worth my time or money. Stay away. Communication was the biggest flaw. After arriving for an appointment and brought into a room for massage. I was informed that the service I paid for wasn't possible due to restrictions of the masseuse who recently had surgery. The masseuse blamed management for not giving her clients a heads up prior to showing up and mentioned how other clients experienced the same last minute notice after arriving and forced to reschedule once they had arrived. I have a busy schedule like many others so a heads up would have been appreciated. There are other factors that went into this rating but management never apologized or tried to correct this horrible experience. Do not recommend Massage Envy Oswego, especially for prenatal massage. I joined as a member a few months ago at the start of my pregnancy. Scheduling prenatal massages has been a bit difficult but overall not bad (I was told there's only 1 person that offers prenatal massages and they book up fast). Fast forward to the end of my pregnancy and trying to cancel - it's been a nightmare. I called on 9/24 and was told the manager would need to contact me so I gave my contact info and was never contacted by a manager. I received a phone call the next day and was then told to "stop by sometime" to sign cancellation paperwork. As you may imagine, I've been super busy with working, doctors appointments, getting things ready for baby and just stopped by yesterday 10/9 to sign the paperwork, as i had thought it was just a formality. I then see it takes 10 days to "process" the cancellation from the day you sign. I was never told this so now I need to reach out and get approval to not be billed for this month even though I first called in September to cancel. I've never had a membership where I've needed to jump through more hoops to cancel... Today, I called to speak with the manager Samantha and she could not have been less caring if she tried. I told her I was disappointed in the lack of flexibility for a pregnant woman and explained my situation and that I may be having an emergency c-section tomorrow but I won't know until I have my scan tomorrow morning. She didn't care and said if I had a massage booked later that day and needed to cancel same day (even due to HAVING A BABY) that I would still get charged the cancellation fee. Then, I had asked for a little flexibility on using my services before they expire. As mentioned, I will be having a c-section and will be healing so I can't get a massage...not to mention I will have a newborn. Once again, not an ounce of empathy she just said nope, they expire 60 days after cancellation. I am a firm believer that there's always something that can be done and she could offer me a gift card for a free massage or something. I mentioned that and she refused. I am so disappointed in massage envy and how they treat pregnant women and will absolutely remember this moving forward and will get a massage literally anywhere but here. I don't understand how a place can advertise prenatal services yet be this cold and unwilling to help during a difficult time. read more

I came here to get a massage after my first pregnancy. My joints were all stiff and my body just ached. I needed some TLC. I have been to a few Massage Envy locations and I feel comfortable here. I know things will be clean and there is a general routine to how the massage will go. While the prices are relatively high, I have usually had a good experience. Unfortunately, I don't get massages frequently enough to warrant the membership. I got a massage with Autumn and she was really good! She gave me a deep tissue massage in the exact location I needed it. I wanted her to focus on the shoulders, neck and upper back. She really worked on the knots in my neck which felt amazing. The only downside to Massage Envy is I feel like they don't actually give you a full 60 minute massage, even though that's what you are paying for. I think the clock starts the second you enter the room and you have to undress then they end 5 minutes early so there is buffer between appointments, so you actually only have a 45-50 minute massage. I know the masseuse will need time between to sanitize and set up, but they could build that into appointment times. I feel an extra ten minutes to make the massage 55-60 minutes will make a difference. Overall, I do like this location. I feel it is as good as most Massage Envys I have gone to. The staff was nice, the rooms were clean, and I ended up with a good massage. read more

Tried this location for the first time in 2012 and had mediocre experiences during a couples massage and single massage, so I kind of wrote them off. I accumulated several gift cards over the years and reluctantly decided to use them after returning from a vacation where we walked over 50 miles. Called on a Friday evening to request a 60-minute Swedish massage that weekend. I was expecting her to say they were completely booked, but to my surprise, they had quite a few openings. A coworker recommended Denise or Christine, but neither were available. I asked the receptionist many, many, many questions (who is the most popular? who is always requested?) and she suggested Meghan. I've been getting massages for 10+ years, and this is the first time a therapist told me what time they started and what time they will end. She's a young, petite gal... and it's usually those types who have He Man strength. I enjoy medium to hard pressure, so it was great for me. I got a full body massage but asked her to focus on neck, shoulders and back. She complied and used different techniques to get the knots out. Fantastic job! read more

My overall experience was great. The woman who helped me get checked in was professional and helpful. I was there a bit early & they were able to take me in early as well. My therapist was great. Perfect amount of pressure and adjusted to my needs. The bed warmer felt amazing, I'd never been to a massage with heated beds before. Yelp has a "check in" offer for a free 1 hour massage. My boyfriend and I were looking around for monthly packages and thought this would be a great option to try them out before commiting. Upon calling, no one at the salon knew what we were talking about. They were more than polite and professional, and stated they would have to email the owner and call me back within an hour. Quite some time later, they called back to say they were not participating in Yelp offers, and I tried to tell them this was specific to their salon, not all massage spas on Yelp. At any rate, we went elsewhere and received great service. And signed both of us up for monthly massages. I'm giving a 2 star because they were polite on the phone, even though they would not honor the offer. This is a Massage Envy location but for some reason all phone books have it listed as Envy Massage. A little backward. Anyway, This is a great place to go if you are looking to make massage part of your lifestyle. When you first go you get an introductory massage at 39 or 49 dollars depending what special they are running. After your massage they will ask you to join their membership program where they charge you 59.00 a month and you get one-one hour massage included each month (which also roll over to the next month if you don't use it). After that any additional massages you want are 39.00 each. I looked this information up before I went so I wouldn't be surprised (I hate when you are surprised with sales pitches and whatnot). I had decided to give it a try because I get migraine headaches and the medication I take is so expensive. I thought if this could help me feel better why not. The first month or two I just went once and the massages were good but I didn't know if it would really make me feel better or keep my headaches under control. Then one day in October I was stressed and had a terrible migraine and called Massage Envy to see if a massage could help my migraine go away. They put me with Mark. I was in so much pain that day and he made my headache pretty much disappear. He put together a custom massage for me working on my head and neck. I started seeing him once a month after that and noticed a huge difference, I also noticed after about 2 weeks I would get headaches again so I decided to try going once every 2 weeks. It has helped SOOOOO much! In the long run I save money because I am not spending as much on medication and its nice that it is a natural way to feel better without the side effects medications give. I definitly recommend trying Massage Envy out if you are looking to make massages a regular part of your life. If you only want to go once every couple months it may not be for you considering I know a lot of places that charge 65.00 for an hour massage and you are paying 59.00 a month at Massage Envy. If you want to go once a month or more it is a good deal and its nice to go to the same person who knows you issues and makes a massage custom for you. I have gone to 3 or 4 massage therapists at Massage Envy and all were good but Mark was by far the best. Even if you decide you only want to go once and not get the membership, go for it. My wife and I have been monthly members for a few years at the Orland Park location and we just recently moved to Oswego. Our experience was overall very positive and I want to give credit where it is due. The young blonde haired lady at the front desk (forgive us for not remembering your name yet) was very warm/welcoming and informed us about the gift card promotion so that we could receive $50 after purchasing $100- thanks again!! The ambiance is beautiful, they currently have awesome Christmas decor decked out in the main lobby. My therapist was good, I am going to receive massage therapy from others there until I find the best fit. read more

I had a facial using their new products for the first time, and I am very displeased with the new format of services. I have been a member for a couple years now, and have had many facials which were always a pleasant experience. The facial is now only 45 minutes of hands on, no steamer and no facial massage. I was told they are "trying to be more clinical and work on skin issues versus being fluff". Well, one of the reason I do get facials is for the relaxation, as well as, the skin benefits. I was not made aware that the format was changing so drastically......I would have reconsidered. Decrease in service yet the price is the same. On my way to my 9:00 appt, I received a call from Massage Envy at 8:30. They politely informed me, "We need to move your appt back to 9:30 because we are running behind. Is that okay with you?" I said "Actually it isn't. I am driving an hour to get to your salon and I am almost there." She continued with "Well we have a waiting room that you are more than welcome to wait in." I should have known at that point... The therapist came and got me at 9:30. At this point I was thinking I could get past the ridiculous 30 minutes of my life wasted, waiting in their 'tranquility room.' But it gets better. The massage itself was mediocre, to say the least. My second problem was that I was dressed and ready to leave by 10:45. A mere hour and fifteen minutes later. I was paying for an hour and a half massage. That doesn't add up right? After I left, I called to speak to the manager. Not to receive anything or to be reimbursed but to let her know that I was disappointed. Her response: "And what is it that you would like me to do about it? If you would have said you were upset while you were here I would have comped something for you. Why are you calling me an hour later?" She also informed me that my massage WAS an hour an a half because she watched the therapist take me in and saw the time when I came out. "Our clocks are all different in here, so maybe that was your problem." Well, let me tell you YOUR problem. Your salon is unprofessional and rude & I would not recommend this salon to anyone. My daughter bought me a massage for my birthday and I have to say it was a great present. I have been getting massages for about 10 years not as often as I like but I enjoyed my massage enough to sign up for a membership. I've had a handful of massages cancelled on me last minute which is really annoying when you have to call far enough in advance to get a massage anyways (plus make sure you have childcare lined up, etc). To begin, the website is great and the owner is extremely nice and professional...I think Kelly might have a slight obsession with her and not looking at the greater issue at hand..fabulous and REAL Spa Services. This location of envy not only LOST my appointment but the girl at the front failed to apologize. Most importantly, I never ONCE received an apology for it..I was only asked if I could come back later OR agree to a membership..WHAT? If you want to experience a GREAT Spa with an owner who actually cares...go to Argos right downtown! I am a member. I have had several massages and a couple of facials done here which have been satisfactory up until today. I scheduled a cranial sacrum massage to relieve an ongoing headache. The nature of my massage was confirmed at the time it was made and the massage therapist available to do this technique was Heather. When I got into the room, Heather asked if I wanted soley to focus on cranial sacrum or worked into a general massage. Now why would I have made this type of appointment not to focus on that alone. The pressure of hey technique was painful. Granted, I have tight muscles but I felt she could have been a bit gentler. My face was getting pyshed into tge headrest so much, my cheek hurt later. She never asked me my opinion of the pressure. At one point, she cradled my head in her hands for a couple of minutes. Still trying to figure out the therapeutic benefit to this move. I came out of the massage feeling more pain than going in. Counter productive. I'm canceling my membership and returning to my chiropractor's therapeutic massage technician. At Massage Envy, it's just too much of a roll of the dice if the technician is qualified or not. This is not acceptable when ones health and wellness is concerned. read more

Reminds me of the saying, "you had one job" so I arrive at my appointment and they said they are unable to bump any one, but they are able to bump me.
