I would not recommend this location to anyone with a membership, and overall I would not recommend this company. They find so many ways to bend the rules and increase prices. They also can cancel on you less than 24 hours prior but you can't cancel on them. Regarding this location specifically, it might be the worst location I've ever been to. I moved and this one was the closest location while I used up my remaining credits. The front desk staff are unhelpful and don't seem to know what they are doing or have any power. Anytime I had an issue they told me they were not able to help and didn't have the ability to do what I was asking. Stay away unless you want to be as frustrated as I was. read more

This location hasn't been given a fair rub. Sure, I've had less-than-perfect experiences at many places, including Massage Envy. However, that alone does not constitute a lotion-less Yelp lashing akin to a reputational glycolic peel. No person or business is perfect; the real question is, "How did management respond and did they attempt to resolve the situation and change the experience for the better?" The business model of Massage Envy lends itself to far more negative experiences than the average service. Customers are willing to take any masseuse available when they call at the last minute, hoping to get squeezed in. Just remember - if your therapist was the only person available at the last minute, there's a high probability they're not in demand for excellent reasons. I recently made this error. The beauty of Massage Envy is that if you're patient enough to find a masseuse as good as Shastina, you can book her out indefinitely; any worries of bad massages, abated. Pre-Shastina, I had a horrible experience with one of the therapists. Suffice it to say I was subject to 90 minutes of torture by knuckles and elbows (no actual massaging). Despite my continuous protests for lighter pressure, the masseuse felt his methods were "needed" on my knot-infested neck and back, so I actually left there with bruised ribs, a strained neck and a migraine. Why did I still give them five stars, you ask? Customer service; that's why. The minute the front desk learned of my ordeal, they swang into action to ensure my satisfaction. They were empathetic, attentive, and kind. They couldn't take back the massage, but they righted the situation in every way imaginable, including a follow-up phone call the next day to check on my welfare and offer incentive to come back to their location, with a new masseuse of course. I couldn't be more pleased with the front desk staff and management. Plus, now that I've found Shastina, I'm confident my neck and ribs will be safe, and my muscles will actually relax during my future sessions. I absolutely LOVE the Bellevue Massage Envy Spa! Of all the locations I've visited - this one is my favorite! As soon as I walk in the door I'm greeted with a warm neck pillow and a cup of tea! I like to arrive early to sit in their quiet room and just decompress. The lighting, the music even the aromatherapy - it's all perfect and invites me into a state of pure bliss, even before my appointment starts! The massage therapists are top notch! I've never had a bad massage and always walk out feeling relaxed and rejuvenated! Even if there's a sore or tender area I don't want worked on - I only have to mention it once. The therapists are very attentive and skilled - so all I have to do is enjoy my massage and let the stress melt away. Customer service upfront is another area where this spa really shines! The front desk is more like a concierge in operation - what do you need? What would make your experience more enjoyable? How can we help? They are always friendly (even when I may not be after a tough day) and really set the tone well for the spa from the first moment I walk in. One recommendation: it would be lovely to add a fountain to the quiet room. The fountain in the main waiting area is gorgeous! First, please ignore all the typical Yelp "no one is any good" and "I should have it all free" crowd who only came here for the introductory $39 an hour massage and will complain about anything and everything. (and, no, you do not need to join to get that $39 deal--once.) I have been a member here for over a year, and I can say there are several good therapists here who will listen, follow what you say, and provide an outstanding massage. I love that I can choose different therapists until I find one or two whose technique I really like. Kirby is one such amazing therapist to me. He has "the Kirby touch,"as I've come to call it. And I love that I can also go to the other locations (all over the place--Redmond, Woodinville, Kirkland, etc.) when convenient. The only disadvantage is the model is a bit like a hair salon, with the therapists not being the owners. That means sometimes therapists move to another city or into private practice (where I am sure they make more money). But, this is an excellent place overall to get an outstanding massage on a regular basis. And I have always found the front desk staff to be attentive and accommodating. Join for best results that you get from regular periodic massage (read the contract first before you sign it--it is a commitment--and don't be like some of the negative posters here who apparently don't know how to read). read more

I've been here 10+ times over the last 18 months and always have a good experience. Staff is courteous and friendly, location is convenient, never a problem with parking. There's a nice chill quiet waiting room available after you check in that even includes complementary Tazo hot teas. Justina is my masseuse of choice and she is AWESOME. Hands of magic, she makes excellent use of the time and I always leave feeling relaxed and refreshed, never sore. Definitely my favorite ME in the area and there are several to choose from. I went for an introductory massage, joined immediately, and have been a member for 18 straight years! What does that tell you? There has been a change of locations, changes of massage therapists, and changes of front desk staff, but I have never had an experience that was less than wonderful, and until Covid, have never taken a pause. Massage Envy has a real service ethic that I recognize and appreciate. This is uniform among staff, therapists and managers -- even those individual who are responsible for cleaning. Covid added an unsettling element. ME was, by the governor's edict, shuttered for a time, and when they reopened, I'll admit I was apprehensive, certainly until I got my vaccine. But my neighbors, who are doctors and long time members also, ventured back and convinced me that it would be safe. They expressed confidence in their feeling of safety, and they are both very cautious professionals. When I returned, I was relieved and delighted to see for myself all the steps that ME has taken to protect their clients. Every staff person there is vaccinated, for starters. Everyone is wearing a mask and even more importantly, they make sure that other clients will not infect you either, by a number of protocols, a list which I will not bore you with here. But let me say that ME has taken many steps and introduced many procedures which are impressive and which are sufficient to make me feel safe and they are sufficient to make my doctor-neighbors feel safe. ME is serious -- very serious -- that there will never be an incident. Now, more than ever, I need my massages! Have you ever needed a massage so badly that you looked forward to it all week? As a new mom, someone gifted me a massage here and I counted the days until my appointment. Unfortunately, I arrived at a different Bellevue location for my massage and we quickly figured out the mix-up. The Eastgate location's staff was so warm and friendly and offered to call the other location and let them know what happened. I just tried to cancel my membership and found out that the membership is like a cell phone contract - to get out of it you have to pay the montly fees of the remaining months (apparently 6 months in my case). Left in tears. The guy massaging me before even touching me asked if the eczema on my back was "contagious". I have always had eczema and have always been insecure and self conscious about it. WATCHOUT: Their contract is sticky, one sided and, makes you realize this place is really about their monthly dues and not the quality of their service. I labored with this company for 3 long years (my bad). The upside is, I get massages almost weekly and the potential discounts were attractive. The downside(s): scheduling and finding a consistently decent massage therapist (I finally found an excellent therapist in the Juanita M/E) was close to impossible. Scheduling is nearly impossible: Unless you have time during the business day, this place is booked. Great for them, not so great for a guy who travels a lot, has a busy calendar and who is prone to a lack of planning in his personal affairs! Transient therapists: The massage therapists appear to be a bit transient and either just starting out or, working there as a last resort. Morale appears to be less than stellar at ALL M/E locations and, many lacked general massage etiquette: talking throughout the session, dripping sweat on my body whilst massaging me (GeROSS!) and chronically bad (or food) breath. Seriously, not even worth $25, much less $79 they charge non-members. Breaking up is hard to do: Finally, the front desk is scripted and trite. They make it incredibly difficult to cancel AND only give you 30 days to use unused massage time. (Yeah, you pay a monthly fee and they let you bank them...till you quit.) Feels a bit like a cell phone contract! Frankly, I'd have given them at least 3 (maybe even a 3.5?) stars had it not been for this really crappy approach to ending our relationship. I can't say there is anything at this location that really stands out to me. I got a gift card from my MIL to go here. Well, I had to drive up here from Renton just to fill out paperwork. I notified them, and kept pressing the fact that I do have a back injury and to be careful with me. They have cotton in their ears, and probably all write in personal languages that nobody else knows. What I told the first person, did NOT get to the second guy. Not only was this chatterbox talking over my relaxation, but he made me feel worse when I left, than better. I shouldn't have to go home and lay on a hotpack for a week just to reverse a "massage." They don't tell you up front that you have to cancel your membership IN PERSON at this location. I joined here because it was close to my work at the time, but have been getting services at the Capital Hill location (great therapists, btw) since I moved. When I called to cancel my membership, I was told I would have to drive to the Bellevue (almost-Redmond) location and cancel in person. They wouldn't let me do it by email, fax or in writing. In fact, I was told it was a company policy because they had people canceling other people's memberships (???). So I had to drive 19 miles (38 round-trip), only to sit in the manager's office and listen for 7 minutes while she tried to convince me not to cancel. Three times she asked if there was anything she could do, and three times I said no. I even said, up front, that I didn't want a sales pitch. Imagine my surprise this afternoon when I found out Capital Hill lets you cancel in writing. I am beyond annoyed. read more

Decided to come here a few days after going snowboarding for the first time this season and try to heal some of the damage I had done. The massage itself was pretty good and relaxing (unfortunately I can't remember the therapists name) but I think everyone's experience here will differ depending on which therapist they got and how much experience they have. For example, my boyfriend said his therapist used really fast strokes and didn't really seem to listen to what he had to say. I also don't like how their advertising is a little misleading. To get the $39 massage deal (which is supposed to be for first time customers), you actually have to sign up for their membership deal in which you get a massage for $60 each month. Even though I called ahead to ask about the deal beforehand, I only found out the full details after I had had the massage and then had to pay full price for it since I didn't want to sign up for some package deal that forces me to spend $60 each month. I'm not super picky but I know what I like and I hate being the "no, do that" person. Dominic was amazing. He paid the perfect amount of attention to the areas that I needed the most work in. He was super efficient at getting a good full body in within the 50 minutes and not making you feel like you'd been cheated. The intro rate is an amazing value, but I'm not sure I'd sign up for the membership. I don't have that kind of cash to pamper myself with. Not completely impressed with the massage or facial of this company. I was trying to treat myself in order to help with stress of work and my muscles after training yet both of my experiences were not enjoyable and it is making me think twice about going to this location again. By the reviews from other members my assumption is that each location near by has had issues and I may have invested in a company that will not be able to provide what I wanted in the first place: relaxing and stress relieving environment to be pampered in. Both appointments that I have had so far has not turned out that way. I have used the services of several Massage Envy locations in the past. At this Bellevue location, I have received many massages from Lea and Reggie (Reginald). I highly recommend both of them for firm pressure. I have come in with some serious muscle tightness and limited neck mobility, and both of them get rid of that during the session. They pay attention and focus on the areas that need the most work. They both have good technique, and I experience no soreness the next day. As they are both popular, I would recommend booking in advance. I appreciate how considerate the staff is, and I always feel this location is clean and safe. read more

Gordon can deliver! He is skilled in a variety of techniques and is also great at making you into a pretzel to give you a good stretch. A must for all triathletes and runners. It is impossible to get on the schedule. I prefer a female with anything other than light specialty. I couldn't get in for any time length fitting those parameters for 49 days. They charge monthly... You do the math. It's absolutely ridiculous. And to be clear, this is at 3 different massage envys. With 3 locations entered in my search (Bellevue, Bellevue Eastgate and Issaquah), none of the 3 could get me in for 49 days. I wouldn't sign up again if I could do it over again. This is my second time to this location. The first I had a great therapist, this time, my therapist was horrible. I would ask her to work on a specific area and put more pressure and she would tell it's not the pressure that she has issues with, it's that the muscle may not let her in and literally did the lowest pressure for almost no time. It was truly a waste of an hour and half. Additionally, you can hear the people in room next door!!? How relaxing can this be??? When I inquired about it she explained that their walls used to worst that this is significantly better, so even if someone was talking in normal tone, you can hear them.. What ??!?! Not ok! I give them five stars for their massage services. They have really good therapists. However, their billing practices are really shady, and for that, they get negative ten stars. The comments from others on this topic are accurate. They make it really hard to quit. FWIW, I canceled my account (which one must do in writing) a month back but they will continue to bill for the next month. Also, they limit the amount of hours their therapists are allowed to work, so good luck trying schedule an appointment. I suggest finding someplace that will not lock you into a contract that you can not get out of without considerable effort and time. read more

Diana was great if I were to just review her this would be a 5 star review. The place is always clean and friendly and they can usually get you in on a pretty short notice. I am a member so therefore I prepay for a massage every month and I like that a lot. I wish they could do the phone calls to remind you of your prepay available as my massage envy did when I lived in California. They say a computer does it not. Nothing like the personal touch... Make sure if you have a prepay that you remind them. They charged me again anyways and it was a pain in the butt to get the refund. read more

The price is incredible - $60/hr, compared to about $90/hr for a comparable massage by an individual or in a spa. I expected the quality to suffer as a result of the lower price, but I was completely wrong. Ashley was amazing, but left, because she had a couple jobs and a long commute from Kent. I was sad to see her go, but Ana was even more amazing, a naturopathic doctor who was doing massage until her private practice could get going. She was the most solicitous, intelligent and gifted masseuse I've ever had, and I've had several great ones who charged more. Since Ana left to start her business, I haven't found a great replacement, but I'm sure there's somebody on staff who'll be equally good once I find her. This is one of the worst places I have been for my massages. I had a therapist who performed Swedish massage for me and I am sure that she doesn't know how to do one. The $60 I paid was just waste of my time and money. When I told the front desk that the session was not satisfactory, all they cared about was to get money from me and said that they will be give me one more introductory offer for $60 massage which is otherwise a $100 for the massage. I've had massages at this location and Redmond multiple times but today was my first time getting a facial. Sheree was amazing! I came in having some unusual break outs and left with my skin feeling amazing n my break outs weren't as noticeable. She was easy to talk to and told me step by step what she was seeing and doing. I walked out with a future chemical peel appt (that I was previously afraid to try) and some mask she used on me during the facial that I loved. Crystal at the front desk is not the nicest person in the world. She's short on the phone, not friendly in person, and seems to hate her jobm even though she's been there almost every time I've come in over the past year. Maybe she's not getting enough massages.. Either way, it took me a few times to find therapists I like - it seems that they range from the straight out of/still in massage school to those that intuitively know where it hurts and how hard to press. I HIGHLY recommend Gordon. He's amazing. Without telling him where it hurts or what I want to focus on, he knows, and he has ridiculously strong hands so that he can get in there and work it. I'm not the froo-froo massage girl, so if you want someone who can make muscles you didn't even know you had sore the next day and give you your range of motion back, Gordon's your guy. read more

I've been a Massage Envy member for about 5 months and am on the verge on cancelling my membership based on the massively high turnover of the therapists there and the inability of my Bellevue location to handle its client volume. The massages are good and the pricing is very, very reasonable. Unfortunately, the last 2 times I've been in I've had 40-45 minute massages instead of the 50 minute massages I paid for because the therapists are behind. If I pay for 50 minutes, give me 50 minutes. Also, the turnover at this place is at lightening speed. I find a good therapist and within a month or two they're gone. And they must be short on therapists because it seems like whenever I call they have nothing open. I started out happy with Massage Envy, but I think the honeymoon is over. ... read more

I want to start by saying that my massage was amazing and that the therapist was very knowledgeable and respectful. Possibly the best massage I've ever had which is the only reason I'd ever go back. My low rating has nothing to do with the massage and everything to do with the front desk staff. When I booked my appt online it gave me an error screen saying that there was a problem scheduling. The website then crashed all together and wouldn't let me back in. I called the front desk to confirm if my appt had been booked or not. They told me that I was not on their schedule for that night to which I responded, "how can you know that when you never asked my name?" She then told me that I probably got an error message because my therapist just clocked out for the night and left. (Again she did not know my name or the name of the therapist I had tried booking with online) she ultimately told me they had nothing booked for me and to not come in. About five minutes prior to my appt start time, out of pure luck, I happened to be going through my emails and saw an email confirmation for my appt. I called back again to clarify and she realized that I did in fact have an appointment. Unfortunately, at this point my appt time was in 3 minutes and I was still at work 15 minutes away. I told her I was on my way but that I still want my full hour because I was only late due to her mistake. She responded by saying that she would tell my therapist I was running late. (Which of course made it sound like my fault) and I know that she never communicated her mistake to the therapist because I ultimately did not get my full hour. She kept saying it was just a miscommunication when in reality is was poor customer service on her end. If I had not seen my email in time I would have lost my monthly session that I had already paid $65 for. The front desk staff needs to be confirming the name of the caller and not assuming anything before telling someone not to come in. I was very unimpressed by the poor service. read more

One of the worse massages I've ever had, only second to being groped! I had a hot stone massage with Reginald and I advised him I have a lot of neck problems from previous whiplash. He decided to rub the one not on both sides of my neck repeatedly for 45 minutes on the end of the stone! He did not use smooth slow strokes it was fast, quick, deep strokes rolling over the huge knot in my neck over and over and over! He almost rubbed my skin raw in the process. At least 60 minutes of my 90 minute massage was in excruciating pain. I almost got up and left, but I was too afraid of confrontation. I have had over 100 massage and it was very obvious he does not know the musculature. I will definitely be more cautious before visiting other locations other than the one I usually use, that is if I don't cancel my membership over this. read more

I've been a member here for a couple years. I have a few sessions backed up, and when I went in, asked to transfer sessions to my wife (also a member). Was told it was done, but it wasn't. Then got a voicemail that I'm not allowed to transfer, even to a member. I then decided to put my account on freeze +. Again was told it was done. Was still charged full price. No, they didn't do that either. Manager Jackie was very condescending. There are good massage envy's out there, this one is not one of them. They do not value their customers. And the two massages I had at this location were not impressive. If you want to be a ME member, find another location that values your membership. Horrible location read more

Very disappointing service. I called in for the special. Fortunately, they had a spot open. Before the massage, the girl asked me a couple questions and said that it looked like I am the perfect candidate to receive multiple massages a month. Based on what? Really? It gets even better. The worst was the massage. The massage was a joke! They gave me an inexperienced guy therapist who just started out. (They probably only use the beginners for the special price) The therapist kept taking a couple minute breaks at a time-looking at the chart and checking things off in between-this is not an oil change... He wasn't listening to anything I was saying and kept adding more pressure even after I asked multiple times to go lighter. My sister can give me a better massage-for free! I wasn't relaxed at all- as a matter of fact, I was more tense as a result of this terrible massage. About 10 minutes into it, I wanted to just end the massage and get my money back but I didn't want to be rude. Massage lasted literally 40 minutes. His stomach was growling the whole time which was pretty bad. At the end of the massage, the dude said he'll go grab me water-which I didn't really care for. I wait, nothing, then 5 minutes later I go to the lobby-he disappeared- I told them my experience and the girl still proceeds to sell me a package. They said they were sorry and did offer another special with a different lmp-at least they tried. This was a waste of time and money- moral of the story, you get what you pay for. Your money is better spent with an LMP who owns their own business or doesn't get paid hourly. read more

I now have to sue them, report them to the DA, and file a dispute with Visa.
