She has developed a deep understanding of my physiology and knows exactly what's needed to get my body back to 100% through incredibly deep tissue work and fascia manipulation. A quick heads-up: the walls aren't floor-to-ceiling, so you can occasionally hear ambient noise from the hallway. However, it's a minor trade-off and very typical for similar boutique spas in the mid-peninsula. In terms of cost, prices are consistent with the area -- not the lowest, but a great value given the quality. I have never had anything less than a stellar massage here, whereas other local spots can be hit or miss. If you want consistency, this is the place.

However, this evening, I had the worst experience here. First, they offer a stamp card where you get a free massage after 10 stamps or so. I left my stamp card at home tonight, so I asked if I could just get a new one. The manager said they don't give out stamp cards to returning customers, but only new customers. This didn't make sense because stamping an existing card would've been the same as stamping a new one, but oh well. That's fine. Then, when it comes to payment, their advertised price for a 60 minute massage is $75. I paid cash this evening, so no issues there, but my sister who came with me paid by card. She was charged $79 for using a credit card. We questioned them because my sister has always paid $78, including her last visit which was just a week ago. We were then told that they charge $4 extra for credit card, but only $3 if using a debit card. It's a $1 difference, but this practice is very shady. I am not even sure they are allowed to pass on credit card fees to customers. When it was time for the massage, the lights weren't dimmed and it was cold. My sister's massage table apparently had a heated blanket, but mine didn't. My masseuse didn't bother fixing the blanket over me and she also left in the middle of the massage for about 4 minutes. Also, the towel that was over my head while facing down fell off my hair at some point, but the masseuse eventually picked it up off the carpeted floor and used it to cover my eyes when I turned over and was facing up (just so gross). Upon checking-in, they also ask you to fill out a sheet where you can indicate what body parts you want them to focus on and/or avoid. I indicated not to touch my glutes and arms, but the masseuse did anyway. This isn't such a big deal, but why have your customers take the time to fill out this sheet every single time if the masseuse isn't going to accommodate the request anyway. After the massage, they have you rate their service on the same sheet you filled out upon checking-in. They also have your masseuse standing there by the door waiting for their tip. So awkward. Needless to say, they lost a returning customer this evening.

Experience was completely ruined when the massage therapist was very closely looking at me writing tips like terrorizing me. Of course no asking how it was, how do I feel... You start off online, deciding what package you want or what type of session. When you arrive at the location it's all the way in the back of the salon slightly to the right. M'lis greets you as you enter her area and is immediately very warm and inviting. She will talk you through what the process is, she will inform you that everything is up to you! How much pressure you want, to what degree are you comfortable undressing and what areas you may want her to focus on VS what areas are off limits. She then gives you a mini tour of her room where soothing music is playing. She will tell you where you can put any/all affects for the duration of the appointment and she will step out so you can undress and lay under the sheet she has provided. She will then knock and ask if it's okay to enter and from there she will get to work! My problem areas are my lower back and staving off carpal tunnel. I let her know this when I initially spoke to her and she definitely paid close attention to those areas! I chose medium pressure but if it's your first time I would suggest light and if you're comfortable asking for harder pressure don't hesitate to be vocal! Overall this was my first massage and now that I know what to expect i can know exactly what to ask for for next time!
