Can one carry during the Mass Firearms Class? I will taking the Multi-State Class soon, and was wondering if I should leave my gun at home?

I took my LTC class at WSC with Mark V, which was very good and included a live fire session (10…read morerounds of .22LR). The class was ~8-10 people, both men and women, of diverse backgrounds. No one will feel out of place. They also have regular LTC classes for women only. I've taken other firearms classes here too and they have some very good instructors like John K, who has written a book on pistol shooting. I've since become a club member. This is the nicest indoor club/range that I've seen in MA, with a locker room (the small lockers cost extra, but can be used to store guns/ammo/cleaning supplies), lounge & kitchenette and a conference room. This would fall into the gun country club "guntry" category. Membership is not inexpensive, but worth it to maintain such a nice shooting environment. They have a plenty of social events too, and the facilities can also be rented. The well-maintained, 8-lane, 50-foot indoor range allows handgun shooting and rifles of typical handgun calibers, but no shotguns. There is a live-fire shooting simulator in one of the lanes. There is no outside range. Drawing from the holster or combat action shooting is only allowed on one lane for members who have demonstrated skill and have received approval by a Range Officer. No limit on rate of fire. Access is 24/7/365. Membership requires a short interview with the full-time manager (as part of a tour), but you don't need a sponsor, but you do need a FID/LTC. So not the level of hoop-jumping that some ranges require for membership. They operate a FFL on the side (not open to the public), so you can order a gun through them or if you buy a handgun out of state you can have it shipped here for legal transfer to you at a minimal charge (don't do that without asking first). They do have a very small selection of guns in stock. However, they are very conservative with regard to applying the law, so don't expect them to do everything, even if it is something every other gun shop in MA already does. They also have a new sister club, Founders Shooting Club in Fort Lauderdale, FL (and I think they are expanding to multiple locations in FL like Miami), and as I understand it membership at WSC gives rights to shoot there for free as well. The owner recently bought the building that houses WSC, so plans are being discussed to expand the facilities here. The only downside I've experienced is that they allow cigar smoking in the lounge after 3PM and the "smog" also affects the conference room. So it became a bit unpleasant in the later part of my 6-10PM LTC class due to the poker players smoking in the lounge (the strong HVAC prevents this being a problem in the gun range, which also effectively keeps the gun smoke out of your lungs). Hopefully this will be improved with the anticipated expansion. Unlike another reviewer here, I haven't found the range to be cold (and they run fans in the summer) or the members to be unpleasant. It is a somewhat older crowd, but you wouldn't expect many college students at these prices unless they are in the family of a member. It's not the place for people who want to pretend they are characters in a video game. Gun safety rules are strictly applied, as they should be. WSC is conveniently located just off Route 128, with ample free parking outside.

Owner is an asshat and range has no heat for the winter. Could of been good. I would avoid and find…read moregood people to shoot with.

I took the Basic Firearms Safety Course last Saturday with a couple friends, and it was great. The…read moreinstructor, Tom & his father made the 4 hour class go by super quick. Prior to this class, I had never shot a gun, let alone loaded one etc. But I left feeling confident enough to do so. They also went over the different laws & procedures that entail getting your gun license, which was helpful, given I did not realize what is and is not allowed in MA. I would highly recommend this class and be sure to partake in the live shooting at the end of the class!

The worst customer service experience that I've had in my life…read more This training center is so uninterested in communicating with customers that the quality of their services is COMPLETELY irrelevant. I got my certificate from them a couple years ago when I applied for my FID. It's a long story, but I need another copy of certificate. I go to their website to lookup my info to see if I'm in their records, and find out that I need to contact them for a manual search. No one picked up when I called with the phone number on their website, and no one replied to my voicemail. I found a second phone number, which gave me the same results, but the voicemail message told me that the best way to reach them is over text. I try sending a text to the number, but it doesn't deliver. Eventually I found an email address to try. I never got a reply. Then I tried DMing their official Instagram page. No reply there, either. I decided to stop by the facility in person to ask them about my certificate, and also why they so hard to reach, and the place is locked during the hours when the website and google maps claims they're open. I showed up again and FINALLY caught them when they were actually holding a class. After telling me at first that they didn't have my certificate, with enough pushing they finally pulled it up. Then they had the nerve to charge me 20 bucks to print a copy. I hope that this is enough to deter you from giving these people your money, but maybe all you care about is the quality of the training itself. So, how was it? Fine, I guess. Sort of. A good sign that you can trust someone for advice about personal safety is whether they're in somewhat healthy physical shape. My instructor (both 4 years ago and now) couldn't self-defense his way out of a narrow doorway. Along with his neglect of fitness, I also distinctly remember him saying not to carry Glocks because they don't have manual safeties, which is ignorant and outdated advice.

NOTE: This is a BYOB club (Bring Your Own Bullets) I am a 1st time visitor, 1st time shooter, and ready to join. This was a SUPER STRESS RELIEVER...and fun as a group! This small, shooting facility offers it's members 1 basement, indoor range, with removable privacy walls between each shooter. Club appears to be well as maintained and clean as any gun club. *smile* Each member is expected to clean up their own bullet shells & cartridges.

Let me start by saying I am not a Member of this club. WIth that said I feel the membership fees…read morefor the facility are rather high. After joining you can save some money by volunteering extra hours, which is fine if you have nothing better to do but otherwise it can come as a pain. I have several friends who are members and I do shoot here ever so often. The rules are very strict here, shooting faster than one shot a second is not allowed. Dont get me wrong, I always follow gun safety rules and the rules of the club I am shooting at. But, when rules become to strict they take some fun out of shooting. The outdoor range is nothing impressive as it only goes out to 100 yards but its in Southborough MA so you cant really complain about the length of it. Over all its pretty clean and they have a decent amount of lanes in the outdoor range. The indoor range is on par with most private clubs, decent ventilation and adequate lighting. It take a year of memebership before you are allowed 24hour access to the indoor range. And as all shooters in MA know its darn cold most of the year here and outdoor ranges close when the sun goes down. SO the majority of the year you'll be shooting handguns and .22lr rifles indoors. If you want to practice IDPA, drawing from the holster or anything actually useful for defensive shooting THIS IS NOT THE CLUB FOR YOU. If you want to go hang out and bring the kids to go fishing in the small but stocked pond its fine. The people in general are not as friendly as other clubs I have visited but good enough. You're milage may vary. I got a bad attitude from these two older guys hanging out in the kitchen which is above the indoor range one time I was shooting with a friend. We were not doing anything outside of their rules and they commented I was "shooting to fast". Since I was not a member I apologized and went back down to the range. I told my friend and he was pretty upset that they decided to say something to me. Anyways, this club is close to my house so aside from location I wouldn't go. I have been a member of a few clubs in MA and visited the majority of them. My top three are Harvard, Holliston and Ashalnd. Harvard is a hike, but they have excellent facilities and you can actually have a good time shooting. Holliston is also excellent with their sand pits, you can shoot more or less whatever you want(like rapid fire a saiga12!) They have Resettable steel plates and dueling trees. Ashland is by far the least expensive (all of these three clubs are less than Southborough btw) Ashland does NOT have a outdoor range, but their indoor range is fine. They also have a BAR in the club house with dirt cheap drinks, a very nice baseball field and tons of land for ATV and a stocked pond. No one is going to turn their nose up at you at this place. So if your new to firearms or just new to the area I would suggest checking out other clubs before this one. I
