Shortly after the injection, my leg became numb and I was temporarily unable to walk. The doctor explained that some of the injection may have affected a nerve. Fortunately, feeling returned to my leg about 24 hours later, but the injection did not relieve my hip pain. I expressed my concerns about my experience and the bill to both the front desk and the doctor. Afterward, I received a letter stating that the doctor would no longer be treating me as a patient.

I was confused at a pain center referral as I thought this was a relatively straightforward procedure but have since learned why this was the correct path. I was also confused at the need to schedule a consult first as I was very much afraid that this would delay treatment as pain was increasing and greatly impacted my ability to sleep or even sit down for a meal. As it turns out, this is pretty much a legal requirement for pain center treatments. Lots of online releases and other forms but they did not take a long time to complete. The spine center referral was on a Friday afternoon and I painfully waited until Monday morning to schedule the first appointment. I was greatly relieved that, as long as I was flexible on locations, could be seen Wednesday at their Frisco location (in the Baylor building next to the Star Center.) That went very well with Dr. A and I met with the scheduler for the next challenge; the procedure itself! As it turns out, I was scheduled for the next morning!!!!! So, at their Plano location, and, after a couple more forms and verification that I did indeed have a driver due to anesthesia, I was out of the office an hour later. No immediate pain relief but the general expectation is 1-3 days. Well, no. I took my victory nap after getting home and, surprisingly, was able to sit up out of bed for the first time in 4 weeks (YMMV)! Still painful but 50% reduced from that very painful morning. Ending up taking a long walk and things got even better. As I write this, I'd say pain is down 80% and I expect my best sleep in ages tonight. Many thanks to Dr A and his group.

I got used to other clinics making me wait an hour or more past my appointment time to get into the clinical room and then wait some more. I was pleasantly surprised that was not the case here. The Dr. was not rushing to get out of the room to the next patient, listened to my concerns and offered me options for relief.

I should have left after my first visit when patients were left standing out in the cold last winter. It was after lunch and the office didn't unlock the doors for 20 minutes after their office opened back up. They said they had an office meeting that ran over. The patients were very upset. I know because I was standing outside with them. I overlooked that, but the first time I tried to call, after what I thought was an error, went unreturned. This was my second visit. The text I received, showed my appointment with Kyle. I tried to call about that, but my calls were not returned. I mentioned that to Dr. Zhao who immediately took notes and had the office manager call to apologize. After more visits, I had a minor surgery that was over $109, 000. Even with insurance, I'll spend the rest of my life trying to pay off. That doesn't include his dr visits or therapy visits. Almost a year rocked on and my last visit was with Dr. Zhao. I purposefully asked to see him for my appointment because I wanted what I thought would be my exit visit to be with him. After the tech took my blood pressure and asked a series of questions, she told me Kyle, the PA, would be in to see me. I told her I made that appointment with Dr. Zhao, and at that point, she said, "Let me see what I can do." I could hear people laughing and talking right outside the door, but no one came to say, "Just a few more minutes" or anything!" After an HOUR in that room, I stuck my head out the door and said, "I've been waiting an hour. Do you know how much longer it's going to be?" The tech said, "You are next." After another 5 minutes, Kyle, the PA came in. He said I'm going to access you and then Dr. Zhao will come. You could tell he was mad. After he did a quick assessment, Dr. Zhao came in. I told him an hour of waiting is too long. He just said, he has Kyle to help with some of the appointments. I told him I understood that because many of my visits had been with Kyle, but I specifically asked for him on the appointment whereI was hoping to have the restrictions lifted. The restrictions were lifted, and I could not wait to leave that office. It seems the price of healthcare is rising but the level of care isn't. Needless to say, I would not recommend this office.

Dr. Schade has been my husband's pain management doctor for quite a few years 10+. He's an ok…read moredoctor--nice guy, nothing super special. I had tried to get my husband to change to someone (hopefully) better over the years, but it's such a hassle, he decided to stay put. We are finding out now how much of a hassle it is. Dr. Schade has decided to retire and from now on only do some surgical type procedures. I've had many issues with the way they run things over there...The latest is he tells his patients they need to get another pain management doctor, but when you call new PM places they need a referral. Dr. Schade refuses to give referrals. Why? His staff (if you can really call them that) said it's because we don't know who would be covered by your insurance. We had already checked and the Doctor he was told about is on our plan. Dr. Schade's (staff) indicated that the doctors name was given to my husband by one of them out of courtesy--not an actual person to be referred to...What? This office will not deal in email at all---shady. Which makes it extra convenient for them as you can't hold them accountable for what you've been told, if you have no proof. This office takes forever to get a refill called in---Irresponsible. This office has messed up my husband's disability case--unforgivable This office wanted a copy of my husband's FCE report which was over 30 pages. They would not upload it from a thumb drive to print it out themselves. They expected us to go get it printed for them...uh no. If you ever needed forms filled out for anything they charged you $75.00+ depending what it was. This office staff will turn argumentative and say no to most requests. When you talk to Dr. Schade himself, he says yes. What's the truth? I feel they have been unhelpful and rude. In my opinion, Dr. Schade is the ONLY one in that office that is really knowledgeable about anything. The PA that refers to herself as a Doctor is a joke. We are very happy he's decided to shut down his practice. I really should've complained before now all the mistakes and plain stupidity that has gone on there to The Texas Medical Board and insurance board. Ten years with a doctor and he is unwilling to give a referral? In my opinion It's just plain irresponsible.
