IF YOU'RE UNDER THE AGE OF 70, GIVE THIS PLACE A PASS...
This is the most useless excuse for a pain clinic, or doctor's office, that I've ever seen. My medical background consists of a broken back (L-2 - L-5 damage), (C-4) neck damage, and nerve damage on my right side, from a rollover motor vehicle accident. I also have stage 4 endometriosis. Due to these two conditions, I have been in chronic pain for years. This has apparently caused a third condition - one that affects my autonomic systems. In other words, if my pain kicks up, my blood pressure and pulse rollercoasters. I've been hospitalized from this, due to pain events that caused my blood pressure to rollercoaster from 55/35 with a pulse of 22, to a blood pressure of 250/200, and a pulse of 255, all within an hour. This event was well documented by Methodist, and they hospitalized me immediately. (They took excellent care of me, and helped me get a diagnosis). My neurologists have determined I need a pain solution to cause this to stop. I also need surgery to correct the current damage the endometriosis has caused (I've had eight previous surgeries, and 4 miscarriages). When I started going to Advanced Pain Solutions, I could still travel. But they have dragged their feet for six months with NO HELP. They continued to come up with hoops to jump through, things to try, all to no avail. They wanted to give me shots in my spine, which I was amenable to when I first started going there, but now, six months later, I can no longer lay down in the position required. This was unacceptable to them, and again, they said they needed to consult other doctors. On my last visit, I was barely able to travel the 45 minutes to get to the clinic. By the time I arrived, my vitals were beginning to rollercoaster, due to the pain. I had to sit, half out of the chair, in agony. The PA, (in six months of visits, I only saw the doctor one time) was judgmental, and rude. He had clearly made up his mind that I was a malingerer, or a drug seeker, even though I have reams of medical records to back up my claims. More likely, they do not prescribe to anyone under 70 (I am 51), so they don't have to worry about the medical board questioning their decisions to prescribe opiate pain medication. After waiting half an hour, I could not sit there anymore, and when the PA began his spiel that he needed to talk to yet another of my doctors, I said, "Fine, talk to whoever you need to, but I can't sit here anymore, I'm in agony." And I got up and left the room. This man had the gall to call me the next day, and said, "Your behavior makes you untrustworthy, you should have stayed and listened to me." I'M UNTRUSTWORTHY?! Do these people not realize they are treating chronic pain patients? Have they forgotten their Hippocratic Oath? Both the pain from the visit, and his subsequent phone call, have caused significant heart difficulties, and actually caused MORE pain, not relieved it. I understand there, may be people out there who misuse pain medication, but there are a great many more people who now suffer, due to selfish, unethical, useless, greedy doctors, who CARE more about their bottom line, and protecting themselves, than they do their patients. I encourage everyone at Advanced Pain Solutions to watch the many documentaries about pain patients choosing to end their life, rather than deal with the pain, after the CDC guidelines caused selfish doctors to cut off chronic pain patients. I also encourage everyone to read the NY Times article
