George and his crew were great. He is very concerned with aesthetics and returned after the job was completed to do more blending on the interior brick tuckpointing - also on the first day he didn't like the match in one of the rooms and had his guys redo it before I even saw it. He is very honest and thorough. They ended up needing to replace more bricks than he estimated, but honored the original quote and completed the extra work that was needed. One of his guys used the wrong tape on my interior wall and damaged the paint - George immediately asked if I had the paint for him to fix it or would prefer he take it out of the bill. He went out of his way to be sure I was satisfied and came by after I got back from work each day to do the walk through with me. We'd go over what was done and he would point out things he didn't like and would have them go back over. Really great experience overall. Things like the damaged paint happen during jobs like this, but George was professional in addressing it and makes sure the completed project is something he is proud of. read more

WOW!! I cannot say enough wonderful things about Bill, George and the entire Restoration team! We had some stucco work on our porch that needed to be repaired. Within hours Bill was at the house to give us a quote. He was honest, quick and fair. When they started the demolition process they noticed there were some structural issues with our porch. With the house being built in 1909 we were worried that we would have problems in the future if we didn't fix it now. Bill was amazing with giving us options, kept us updated on price and always set realistic expectations with the timeline. I would like to HIGHLY recommend Masonry Restoration. They completely built the entire front porch of our 77-year-old Tudor house, with a flagstone top to match our flagstone steps, Before Masonry Restoration had stepped in, the bricks were crumbling and the entire porch was sagging. We weren't sure that the porch would make it through another winter! There are many choices you have when you need brick work done. But when you house was built 80 years ago (like our Park Hill Bungalow) the materials were different than they are today. A lot different. Bill is an expert, and he understands that those differences matter both to the way he does the job, and ultimately to the way the work turns out. Masonry Restoration did an awesome job tuckpointing my home. My home is 100+ years old and built of stone. Other estimates I received did not take into account a special technique used with the mortar 100 years ago. I didn't even notice it, but George pointed it out to me and how he would restore the mortar to its original style. He did such a great job that it's difficult to pick out where the repairs and restoration were done. I also liked that he did not give me a quote on the spot but was thoughtful and emailed it to me later. He was in the midrange of estimates that I received but no one else proposed adding the special labor-intensive, rolled technique as a part of the bid. We have used Masonry Restoration on two jobs within the last year. Building a new brick wall surrounding our Balastrade on our patio and Stucco work on our patio. The brick wall was expecially difficult as Bill had to consider how to protect the integrity of the wall from water. His solution was most creative and effective. We have a 2 color brick home (yellow on the top and red on the bottom) that had a very large (10 ft) patio door that did not function well. We replaced the patio door with a wall and a 5 ft window. We also had a regular door that we replaced with a window above and a wall below. Obviously there was a lot of brick infill that was required. They also did a lot of repair work where the house was settling. The work Masonry Restoration did was beautiful and you can almost not tell that it is infill and not the original construction. We had some damage to a small section of our walkway on the side of the house which caused some water to come into our basement we needed the walkway repaired immediately. I called several masonries and Bill called me back and came to give me a quote the next day. He and his son-in-law came out and repaired the area and the walkway looks amazing. I have a 97 year old brick, bungalow in the north Washington Park area. After almost 100 years it was looking a bit sad and neglected. My poor house had crumbling bricks, cracks and missing mortar.
