Called to get clearance to bring in cupcakes for our friends' birthday and to make sure we didn't go during league times. The woman kindly said cupcakes were fine and gave us the best hours for our group. I ordered $60 worth of gorgeous cupcakes from Molly's Cupcakes (highly recommend, always stellar) loaded up our cars with gifts and balloons and rolled up to Mason Bowl. Walking in, i saw the sign prohibiting outside food and drinks, and was walking to the counter to make sure we were still good to bring in the cupcakes; there was a male employee (bald, late fifties, miserable expression) who appeared to be in charge. Before i could open my mouth, he said, "You can't bring that in here." "I was just going to ask you about that! We called Friday night to get your hours and the woman told us..." He interrupted me and said, "No one who works here would tell you that." So now i am a liar and a rule-breaker?! "Do you sell cupcakes?" I was prepared to buy them from here if they sold them. It's my friend's birthday, we really wanted him to have the whole experience. He flatly told me NO. I understand how businesses work and they need to make money if they offer food. Totally get that, we support independent businesses and that is why we chose to try this place and also called for clearance. The cupcakes are melting in our trunk and based on the (mis)treatment, this is probably my last visit here. A polite explanation that was accusation-free would have helped. Went for early morning open bowl. Paid $6 per person per game. It was clean and updated.

We came here on a Monday after an anniversary dinner just to have some fun and laugh. We checked the website to make sure they were open and for info on the place. It was outdated and still had Winter hours. Anyways, we decided to go there and placed a drink order. I think it was $4 or something. After we got the drinks I asked if we paid at the same time for bowling and he THEN informed me (after asking "you're with the league right?" And me saying "...no?) It was league night and we couldnt play until 10pm. I tried to cash out and he said theres a $10 minimum.... really??? You just informed me we couldnt even bowl. Make an exception. Anyways luckily my girlfriend had cash. We paid and then left. It would have been nice to have a sign on the door, an updated website, or atleast a notice letting us know it's a league night before we drove 20+ mins. Gave 2* just because the parking lot seems ample and the place seemed like it could be fun. P.s. we typically dont bowl often so if this was a mistake on my part, as in all ally's have league after 6, I'll gladly remove the review. read more

Excellent lane conditions, friendly staff, and great food make Mason Bowl my favorite bowling center in the area.

Clean, bathrooms updated and staff was pleasant. Family friendly for open bowl n Sundays which was really nice.

We had fun on Friday afternoon bowling just one game. No real issues as far as glitches in scoring, but the ball return let a ball come out on another lane, pretty odd. And not in that lanes ball return, literally came toward the bowlers in the center of the lane. Not sure when we'd be back, but I wouldn't be against it. The scoring was very high tech on iPads with interactive options. The place is surprisingly pretty small, maybe 10 lanes. Just expected double given how big Mason is and it being the only alley I know of close by. The service was fine, we didn't eat or drink, buying shoes and one game for 5 people was steep at $35 though. Fine enough for an hour of entertainment, but budgets don't allow that often! read more

They dont have a rating low enough to properly suit mason bowl. I have gone here multiple times, why I keep coming back is beyond me. Every time I come their lanes are "full" but when I walk in no one is there. Horrible costumer and employers are rude. Don't recommended as a nice place to come with your family. One of my wife's workmates was holding a fundraiser at the Mason Bowl yesterday (or a while back, dependent on when you read this review) which is what prompted my visit. Although I had a good time due to good friends and good drinks....well, drinks anyway......the alley definitely had some shortcomings. First off, it is TINY. They had 18 lanes. In your head that may seem like a lot, but I assure you it is not. The bowling alley right up the street from me has 34, and my favorite alley, Eastgate Lanes, has about the same. Secondly, we were there on a Saturday night, and they only had three employees on hand. One to start up lanes/rent shoes, one to bartend, and one to fix food. There was a point in the evening where the customer line at the main counter for food and beer inside the alley got so long I decided to simply go in to the "bar and grill" portion to get my drink. Imagine my surprise when the same guy who was serving the counter outside of the bar and grill poked his head in and told me "I'm the only bartender tonight, you may as well come around and get in line out here." What the....how can that be? How can you have a "bar and grill" attached to your bowling alley and have nobody to service it? I mean, this is at 9:00 on Saturday. In general, bowling alleys are seedy places, I think, and this one certainly doesn't defy that tradition. And that's all fine and good. I would rather pay $2.50 for my Miller High Life than go to some new-fangled "posh" bowling alley and pay $4.00 for a Budweiser. In general, I'm not sure any bowling alley could garner a 5-star rating, but due to its under-staffing and size I have to score it below average. read more

This place would of got 5 stars if the lanes didn't malfunction as often as they did. The overall place is clean and the counter help is what you would expect from a bowling alley so no surprise there. We had 14 people in our party so we got two lanes. Had 4 kids with us so kudos to them having the automatic bumpers that come up for each player who needs them. Seating areas around the lanes were the newest I have ever seen and not the old "lounge" look we are all used to. The place was live and vibrant and well lit so you didn't feel like you were stepping back into the 70s when you entered. Food and drink were good. Full bar was a bonus as well. The soft pretzels were some of the best I've had in a long time even though they were $3 which was a little high for a bowling alley I thought. Draft beers and bottles were all between $2-$4. The problems were that the frame would jump ahead of a bowler so if they bowled the first ball and got a 7 than once the pins were picked up it would either give them a spare or open frame when they didn't even bowl second ball. This is a nice little bowling alley. It looks like it has been recently updated and is in very good condition. The staff was very friendly also. The jukebox was a little too loud (maybe I'm too old) so the kids and I had trouble hearing each other. All in all a very nice place. read more

Wow! Isn't a hotdog supposed to be hot? Well, here at Mason Bowl the HOTdogs are frozen. That's just for starters. Staff is rude! Don't expect to bring your family here and have a relaxing and fun time. Lanes are old and keep breaking down. Very Frustrating! Family fun, icy cold beer, lanes look brand new, renovating interior. . . Today is my second time to go in as many weeks.

BOWLER BEWARE!!! This place is unbelievable! We've bowled our last season at this place because the owner just wants her money! I started off the bowling season this year and during the first game (first night of bowling), my bicep ruptured and I wasn't able to finish the first game - didn't even establish an average for the first night. I've been in therapy ever since and I've been paying the prize money to keep my team current; HOWEVER, I now find out that regardless of my injury (that I suffered at that alley), I'm responsible for paying the lanes fees for the entire year!!! SERIOUSLY???!!!! I've never heard of such thing. This also confirms when one of our girls hurt her shoulder a few years ago and had to stop bowling to go into therapy, we got our prize money shortened because she had not paid the lanes feels; however, NO ONE explained that to us and/or could explain it and now all of a sudden it's a "house rule". Sounds like the rules are made up as they go along. Besides the horrible service (only certain people get their food brought too them - others have to pick it up themselves), lanes always breaking down, way too high prices for drinks and food - it's not worth your time at this place. We surely will not be back! read more
