The staff is rude AF, there's a "large" woman (I think anyway) named Megan - "it" (just to be safe) is EXTREMELY RUDE & acts like she owns the place, favors African Americans & honestly (not trying to be rude either) but has absolutely horrible body odor - maybe she/it shouldn't be in a customer service position, b/c it has NO CUSTOMER SERVICE SKILLS, place is dirty and I've seen some of the employees drink behind the counter, the teenagers that "work" there do nothing but sit around on their phones, the adult employees are drinking and bowling on their clock instead of cleaning the disgusting place- needs new staff, management & brought up to date- just gross read more

This place is great. A classic bowling alley with 20 or so lanes. Offers lighter balls, bumpers, and ramp assists for kids. Bumpers are manual while the score keeping is electronic. Pizza is delicious- highly recommend ordering one while you're there. Prices are fair and they offer a kids bowl free program during the summer months. Restrooms are a bit small but work just fine. They have an arcade area with a half a dozen games - only 1-2 worked last time we were there. Overall, it's a good spot. read more

It's kind of a throwback location, in that the style, furniture and equipment is likely from the 80s. It's a dark and dank bowling alley, which some folks may find appealing. I attended a children's birthday party with my two kids, and an overall party of about 16. These young kids were sitting and crawling on the floor as kids tend to do, and I was mortified because the carpet is very gross and unkept. I have a bad feeling it hasn't been cleaned in years. The equipment is dated, no animations or anything to hold the kids' attention on the screens like some of the more modern alleys. There is clutter everywhere, with folding tables, packages, supplies and equipment crammed in wherever open space had been found. The lanes were pretty full during this Sunday afternoon. We had two lanes with little kids (3-6 yo) and adults playing. I saw the ramps that kids can use to roll the ball, stacked in their lounge/bar area. There were two employees behind the counter, very busy serving drinks, food, assigning lanes, shoes, etc. I waited in line to ask about the ramps, and since they were so busy, simply asked if I could grab a ramp for the kids to use. The gentleman that answered me said, "Yeah, go ahead". I went in to get a ramp (about 3 feet tall, large plastic dinosaurs) and a couple were pretty beat up, so I was rearranging them to look for one with no cracks or holes in it. During this I noticed and odd stare from an elderly gentleman wearing an overcoat from about 20 feet away. As I carry the ramp out from their bar/lounge/storage area, his glare intensifies toward me, and I just look at him confused. He said something about knocking people over, but it as loud and I couldn't tell what exactly he said. I looked at him confused and just walked past him to head toward my lane, when he raised his voice and repeated himself (which again, I couldn't hear with pins being knocked down and the ambient noise). I turned and walked back toward him so I could hear what he was saying, then he very sternly announced "I'm the owner!". I said, OK, what's going on? He mumbled something about his staff would take the ramps to us, and I shouldn't move them myself because they don't want anyone knocked over. I'm just more confused because, I didn't knock anyone over, and why's he being so rude. He didn't say "Hi, let me help you with that." Or "Let me get someone to move that for you". Now I'm getting defensive, so I told him I waited in line and asked if I could get this, and was told, go ahead. He asked who told me that, and then said "I'll go talk to him" as if he believed I would appreciate this kid being yelled at or something. He went over and started talking down to the employee, so I followed and just said, I appreciated the staffer's help, and I can move the ramp myself, or if one of them wanted to, great, but I didn't see any problem. The owner gave me another quick explanation that they didn't want anyone to get knocked over, then both stared at me for a couple seconds before I just walked off, still carrying this ramp. I take it the owner doesn't really care about safety, he likely just saw me in the area and wanted to play tough-guy owner. I was annoyed and uncomfortable the rest of the time there, and of course, now all I can see are all several things around the business that the owner should concern himself with instead of worrying about me doing an employee's task after asking to do so politely. Tears in the dirty carpet, rusted ball racks, broken mirror, bathroom in disrepair, no trash can to be found, reset pins button not working on one of our two lanes, and clutter in various places including heavily in the arcade area, where the games have faded screens and are in disrepair. I have been coming to Crossgate since I was a teenager. I brought my kids and now I bring my grandson. It's a great place to have a kid's birthday party. It's your basic bowling alley. It's not super fancy but it's well maintained. The prices are reasonable. There's 24 lanes, the scoring is all been updated to digital, there's a bar, a pro-shop, a tiny game room and the staff is friendly. Right now they have a Kids Bowl Free offer. It started in the spring and runs through the end of August. Kids get to bowl 2 free games a day! And it's completely free to sign them up. I signed up my grandson. My husband and I signed up for the family free game pass. It was just under $22 and up to 4 people can bowl 2 free games a day. The daily coupons are emailed weekly. We took 5 kids on a rainy Saturday. We used the kids bowl free coupons online so all we had to pay for was the shoes. The lanes are high tech and the kids bumpers are automatic depending on who is bowling. Scoring is automatic. The staff was awesome. Crossgate is a great house for serious bowlers and just-for-fun bowlers. It's a great league house - the equipment is up to date and there's a good competitive mix of people who bowl up there. I'm a New Yorker, but haven't always been one. I was once an Aviator. No, not like DiCaprio. I went to Sycamore Jr. High and was on the football team for a season. 3rd string Right Guard, aka benchwarmer, but I was still on the team. I used to bowl at Montgomery Bowl with my buddy Joe. Good times, although the place is gone now. I just came down to visit him in Reading and we checked out Crossgate for a few games. Really nice place. I'm a USBC league bowler with a standing 196 average, so I'm a series roller. My second home is Shell Lanes in Brooklyn (https://shelllanes.com). Crossgate's staff were all friendly and attentive, and the place is clean and well maintained, unlike a lot of bowling alleys I've been to and I've been to a lot. They have a great pro-shop which I might visit again before I head back to NYC. For a serious bowler this is your place. Its a nice well maintained bowling alley - nothing fancy Rental prices are reasonable. We used to go more often however with the recent poor service at el pueblo we haven't ventured over as often however that has nothing to do with crossgate. I haven't had issues with mechanics and they have a plethora of different weight bowling balls This all being said I am a "if i break 100 im happy" kinda bowler so I have no experience with their leagues etc. read more

Crossgate Lanes offers plenty of bowling fun: a variety of leagues, bowling parties, and walk-in bowling for those who just want to play a game or two. There are 24 lanes, and it can fill up, so at times when it may be especially busy (i.e. Saturday afternoons during glow bowling tend to be popular for birthday parties), you might want to call ahead about lane availability. There is a bowling shop onsite, plus a refreshment bar offering your usual bowling delicacies - beer and pop by glass or pitcher, nachos, dogs, etc, plus vending machines. Parties can bring their own food and even have pizza delivered. Parking is plentiful in the lot outside, and the restrooms are clean. They also have two large screens above the lanes and play music overhead. On our most recent visit, they were showing basketball on the screen and playing some 90's hits that were totally giving me a flashback. Good times. Bumpers are available on the lanes. There are a variety of bowling balls available for those who don't have their own (A tip - if you need a ball and you can't find the size you want, ask at the desk). One change that has taken place is the removal of the machines where you entered your own scores. It is now automated, so be prepared to tell the friendly employees the names of the people in your party. I was in town visiting a friend and accompanied him to his bowling league. Crossgate lanes was great for it as they have many lanes and plenty of table space for spectators. The facade is welcoming and the atmosphere is relaxed to enjoy a general good time with peers bowling. The bathrooms are also clean. It was pretty much as I would expect from a bowling alley. Prices seem affordable and the bowling balls weren't all beat up. The cocktail waitress was nice and friendly and the names of the shots (i.e. "leg spreader") were pretty comical. The bartender was an older lady who seemed to grill me on my I.D. I understand the need to card people who look to be under 35 years old, but no one else seemed to be getting the third degree about their ID's. I am WELL over the legal age of 21, as if I didn't already feel old for adding another year to my life one month prior to my trip to Cincy, this lady was making me feel bad as if I was trying to pull a scam on her. I pulled out my other ID's to verify and help her out, but it wasn't until my dear friend, Gary, a Cincy resident and Crossgate Lanes regular, came to my side. It was then that the lady's questions regarding my birth year, birth date, address, and other ID related questions ceased. geez! I just wanted a beverage to pass the time while bowling. It wasn't worth it to visit the bar to experience this hiccup in customer service. I DO want to believe she was well-intentioned, but it definitely made me feel bad, even though I shouldn't. It's really more of 2.5 stars... but I'll give the place the benefit of the doubt. I was here for a birthday party on a Saturday afternoon. If you're planning on bowling then, don't. The place is overrun with little kids having their birthday parties. This place seems like it's seen better years. It just looks and feels old. The screens are the newest thing there it seems. They're also lacking medium size balls, in the 10-11 lb range. They had 6 lb and plenty of small ones for the kids, but then it seemed to jump to a few 12 and 14lb balls. They no longer have the computers to take care of the names yourself. You have to write the names down with the shoe size, give it to the person behind the counter and wait. we had 3 lanes that day. One screen had the names entered in but we couldn't play yet. We paid by the hour for 2 hours... the time we waited for them to get everything up and going counted against us. There were also quite a few jamming pins problems throughout the game. In our first game alone, and on our lane only the reset button didn't work and an employee had to go back behind the place and reset it at least 4 times. That was only our lane. They have food and drinks, the pitchers of pop and lemonade are steep at $7 a refil, but they do let you bring in outside food, so I guess thats a plus. We had made a reservation for 3 lanes, but they only gave us 2. They did quickly rectify that situation fortunately. I just feel like this place could use a little sprucing up, and maybe some customer service as well. When your time is up, its up lane shut down. Even if no one is waiting and you only have one frame left, and regardless of any problems that the lane itself presented... The whole thing was just a little... weird. read more

Crossgate Lanes in Blue Ash, right off Ronald Reagan Highway, is a great place to bowl. With 24 lanes, the option of bumpers, and automatic computerized scoring, Crossgate is always a fun to go. Crossgate also organizes leagues, while the Blue Ash lanes have been home to the Sycamore, Moeller, and Reading high school bowling teams. They also have a game room and a lounge, as well as Dave's World of Bowling pro shop. Bowling allies are bowling allies, meaning I haven't seen one that is especially clean or classy. With Crossgate, however, I will say that compared to the other three or four bowling allies I've been to in Cincinnati, it is definitely the nicest, and in my opinion the best. Games are $3.69, while shoes can be rented for $2.50, but all day Monday and from 10 a.m. to Noon from Tuesday through Friday, games are just $1.99. Crossgate has also somewhat recently introduced the always popular "glow bowling," which is available on four different days during the week for a combined 11-and-a-half hours of fun. From now until September 30, there is a buy two games, get one free deal as well. Whether it was at the numerous birthday parties I attended over the years, just a few friends having some fun, or a group at high school I went with, I've always enjoyed Crossgate Lanes. It's the best lanes around, the staff is very helpful, and they even have a large selection of lightweight bowling balls. I will say, however, that my grandmother got her new car keyed while she was taking my cousins there, and I also think it may get sketchy on a weekend night with people hanging out front. Great parking and close to Cross County Highway. We came here for our annual work party. Nice big private room upstairs with separate bathrooms and it's own bar. This would be a great bowling alley except each time I bowl here the lanes have little to no oil on them and I'm in a weekly league (granted it's a fun 9 pin no tap league but a league none the less). They should have them prepared before each league comes in by reoiling the lanes. Or at least have some semblance of oil on the lanes. Instead me and my team bowl horribly compared to how well we usually bowl. If they'd make sure the oil was up to standard each week I'd give it a 5 star rating for sure. read more

This was just an OK bowling alley. It was a bit small only about 20 to 25 lanes. It was crazy packed with birthday parties on the Saturday afternoon so it took a while to get shoes and everything set up. There were some things I did not like. It had up to date screens for the score but there was no key pad at the lane. SO you had to wait for the people at the counter to punch every bodies name in and then wait for them to start the game. When it is busy this takes forever I could have had it done faster with the key pad at the lane. The other thing is that our lane kept jamming and cutting into our two hour of play time. The only reason I would go here rather then other alley is because it is close. read more

It is the closest good bowling alley to me, so I have been there a lot. It is not totally clean, but what can you expect? They do a nice job, are helpful, and the pricing is reasonable. They have good shoes (but they look kinda like a clown's)! And also have a variety of balls. The scoring is computerized and you can even request a printout of a memorable game. Extremely poor service. Came in when it was not very crowded (30 mins Til close) and were unable to bowl. We were naturally very disappointed as our entire night and realistically our whole summer depended on being able to bowl tonight. The staff was unsympathetic and disrespectful toward our situation, and verbally harassed our group when we expressed our disappointment. Trying to make the best of a bad (horrible) situation, we tried to grab a few beers and sit around so our trip wasn't completely a waste. When we tried to order, the staff member became belligerent and refused to serve us. Despite our polite reasoning, the staff continued to aggressively berate us and deny our business. At this point we legitimate feared for our own safety and left the bowling alley on our own volition. Words cannot describe how dissatisfied we are with the service at this establishment. I enjoy this bowling alley, but my buddies and I did have one complaint. We have been in a few leagues over the last few years and the guy behind the desk is always jumping on the microphone and rambling on. We have talked to other bowlers in the league and they seemed to get a little frustrated when he jumps on the microphone for no real reason, other than to hear his own voice, while someone is trying to bowl. If he weren't on the PA system rambling on while people are trying to bowl, I would have given this place 5 stars. read more
