I cannot rave about Manning enough! I have a very "unique" background, that is hard to fit in the…read morejobs I was applying for, due to a career change because of certain circumstances, leaving me burnt out and depressed in the job application process. I went months and months of applying endlessly, and the only interviews I seem to get were the ones where I had a connection (and I'm not particularly good with networking to begin with, so they were far and few). I searched for 'top recruiters in Boston' and let's just say they all disappointed. I won't mention them by name, but they wasted my time, gave me false hope and had little follow-through on their part, with no contact for months, and I would get pathetic, measly replies after hounding them. After being burnt several times by useless recruiting agencies (you know who you are), I decided that I will try the next one down the list, with no expectations whatsoever. I worked primarily with Dave, and he was so caring and kind, and I finally felt I had my own cheerleader in this dreadful job hunting process. Within a week, he had 3 interviews lined up for me. Within 2.5 weeks, from first contact, I started my new job! I would've started sooner if it weren't for the holidays. They really follow-through, and when they say they're looking for openings for you, they mean it! Before every interview, I had a call with Dave to prep me for what's to come. I didn't even ask for it -- he just did it! They went above and beyond, and they continue to keep in touch with me to make sure all is good in the new place. I met several former Manning candidates in this job and other places I interviewed, and they all have nothing but amazing things to say, and it's no surprise there. I know at this point I am sounding like I get commission for endorsements lol, but the truth is, I was in a difficult spot, mentally, financially, and I would want anyone else in a similar situation to find the same help that I did. Vocational rehabilitation, if you will. Save yourself the frustration, and start with them first.

It was so refreshing to have people in your corner who are dedicated to getting you placed in a role. Ellie is an absolute sweetheart and she and Kelly worked around the clock to get me into a position. I'm genuinely a little sad that I won't get my daily (yes, you read that correctly DAILY) updates from my girls at Manning. Thank you so much to the Manning team! Work with them, you will not regret it!

Overall I think labor ready is a life saver. I mean really? There is NO EXCUSE for ANYONE to not be…read moreemployed. It is GUARANTEED work. All you must do is fill out an idiot test as I like to call it ( they're basically just making sure you don't show up to work on drugs and won't steal) and then boom just show up early when they open and there's a job to do. Yes, they're not ideal jobs (construction, factory work, minimum wage, no benefits, etc) but it's money! And you get paid same day in cash!! I remember when I lost my job because my car broke down and I had no way of getting there. Now yes, I can just go get another job but it's a timely process of applications, interviews, follow up interviews, training, and then waiting usually 2-3 weeks to get your first real pay check. I didn't have time to wait to have money. Rent was due, my car needed to be fixed and paid, phone needed to stay turned on, fridge needed food, I couldn't afford to wait even if it was just 3-4 weeks to get paid. One day, after telling a friend about my situation, they suggested labor ready. I had never even heard of it! I thought they were exaggerating at how simple and quick it was. So I woke up at 4am the next morning, called, and walked my behind an hour to the middle of the city there. I took the test and showed up the next day for work. At the time I lived in Taunton so this was the Taunton location. They were rude, mean, disrespectful, judge mental, but I had work and just like that I had cash in my hand same day. The work sucked. It was cold, early, repetitive, factory work with a short break and no benefits at minimum wage. But I was just so blessed I had an instant opportunity for income until I found a job. I found a job and started working 3 weeks later at a great job but that month at labor ready saved my apartment, car, everything! A year later I moved to east Boston, got a great job, was Finishing up at Umass Boston, and had my own place. I lost my job a year later and in fear of losing out on continuous pay with out any pauses I looked for a labor ready near me. I found the one in Chelsea and even though I was dreading doing this all over again, I went in. They were so nice, helpful, non judge mental, kind, respectful, professional, personal, and accommodating!! Unlike Taunton, this labor ready was clean, warm, comfortable, organized, and welcoming. They found out about my past and knowing I had degrees, a license, car, and past labor ready experience and set me up with a job that was fit for me. They have me a driving job that paid over $20/hr and was great! I worked there for a few month until I could find another job. I'll never forget how they were so great! They still call me to this day to see if I'm in need of any work, etc. they really supported me and treated me like a friend until I could get on my feet. It meant a lot especially knowing they don't have to. Great labor ready location!! John and junior were the best!!!!

Applied online and got a call back from Jen who was very friendly, told me to come take a visit for an interview. The building was very nice, prime location in Financial District. Front desk person asked me to fill out an application and led me to Jen after. Jen was telling me that she has been working at John Leonard for almost 30 years holy moly! She was very professional, knew what she was doing, and sounded like she has a great relationship with their clients (employers). Asked me couple questions about my skills and experience, what I want to do in a long run. After the interview, she explained some of the jobs they have in the system and asked me if any of those spark my interest. Really liked this short term assignment in Cambridge, was places there a week after that interview! Went through many assignments with various employers through John Leonard so far, was a great experience to work with all those employers. John Leonard seems to have a good clientele of employers that would treat you well as long as you do your job! Long story short- no matter what kind of career goals you have, John Leonard will listen to you, learn your story to find a great assignments that fit to your needs and qualification! Shout out to Jen, you are awesome!

She is genuine and kind, her impeccable communication skills and team spirit are ideal for engaging between her customers. Routinely she puts the best interests of her prospects and clients before her own. She is persistent at finding you the right talent with fast turn-around times without pestering you. Now that I am looking for work, I trust Laurie in finding the best companies for my specific skills. HireMinds is very different from other recruitment agencies, they find the company that is a great fit, both for you and for them. Most talent agencies send you endless job listing that are not in your realm of the work just to try and fill a position. I admire and deeply respect Laurie for taking the time to find a perfect match for both sides of the business. And enjoy working with her from both perspectives. Debbie B.

Terrible experience. Went through 8 (yes 8!) interviews only to be casually told in an email (not…read moreeven a phone call) that the client is "moving on". One day previously the incompetent recruiter asked me to send them proprietary documentation from a previous employer, which I refused to do for legal and professional reasons. In all my years in my field, never had this kind of lackluster approach when working with a recruiter. STAY AWAY!
