As for the staff, I have not been treated bad by anyone, from the cart guys and starter, to the wait staff, to the function coordinators. Just attended a new member appreciation reception and was over whelmed. Went with our sponsors and had so many wonderful apps. we skipped going to dinner. Everything was gratis and the excellent musician played all different types of music and even got us dancing. Many of the staff are now wonderful friends to look forward to seeing. Maybe the difference is how you treat someone is how you are treated.

My first time playing this West Course. There are a total of…read morethree 18 hole courses all together. Visiting the area with the Golf Guys, a group of 24 guys for a 3 day long weekend for golf. The forecast was for rain because of Hurricane Isaias, category 2. We were fine through the first 9 and then the rains came and delayed us for about an hour. I was ready for a rain check but the rest of the guys wanted to finish up so we could get the points totals for the last round I was fortunate to card two Closest to Pin winners. This is an older course and it feels like it. There are no GPS on the carts. The cart path asphalt is broken and missing for yards in some areas. All the Staff was nice even though it was threat of rain, there were quite a few people playing and the Staff did a great job of managing it. I would recommend this course though. There is not a lot of water but quite a number of fairway bunkers and green side bunkers. It's pretty wide open and I especially liked the short Par 3's. First time I've ever seen a course where #18 is a Par 3 finishing hole.

First, after the $250, they charge $8 for 30 balls for the range. Really!! The range is mud barely any grass. Mats would be better. Only friendly and engaging person at the course if the cart lady. Wonderful bloody mary's. The water logged course is only made worse by the almost comical greens. I kept waiting for a clown mouth to jump out. Too many courses with personality and charactor to endure this place again. I'm an 8 handicap. Have played in 20 countries and all over the US. I would not recommend Myrtle Beach National.

Lots of bunkers, lots of waste area, lots of water, numerous blind shots...but a fun course, five…read morePar 5's & five Par 3's, a couple of very short par 4's. A Mike Stranz aware winning course on the site of a former Indigo plantation, thus the name True BLUE! The day I played in mid-June it was 91 & 71% humidity. Stay hydrated people, heat exhaustion will get you out here! You get a VERY small bucket of range balls included with your green fee. The NATURAL areas are massive, lots of sand, saw grass and undergrowth. Rather than build cart path along fairways, many holes are connected by the Natural areas of sand very similar to Tobacco Road. I really like the Shank Shack between holes 9 & 10 where you can get food & beverage and not come back to the Club House. The carts are equipped with GPS and they will BEEP at you when you go rogue off the fairway or near the greens. Stranz won 'Golf Architect of the Year' in 1998 with this design along with the adjacent Caledonia Golf & Fish Club.

It was a great experience and so busy they have a dediated attendant to get you set up if you've never done Top Tracer. This was a little different in that you don't buy your range balls separate, they are included with your golf round. The ball dispenser is on the tee and you just wave your club head over the LED light and out comes your ball...one at a time! The course is decent, nothing really special. I did like the replica of the Ben Hogan bridge from Amen Corner at Augusta. It was a beautiful sunny day so you got the full refection of the bridge in the water, just beautiful. They close down the bar/restaurant at 6p on Friday. Thought that was kinda odd to close up so early in high season of a Friday. The course was in decent shape, a few greens need a little TLC. Great staff in the ProShop and on the course.

There are 80 plus courses in the MB area now, no wonder they call it the 'golf capital of the world' and yeah they are A LOT of hidden gems. Can you blame me for being a shade skeptical? Not so fast my friend, this course was the final of the Golf Guys Pawley's Island golf extravangaza. There are many things to like about this course. The layout and design of the 18 holes, winding through the Low Country wetlands with Egrets, Osprey's, Herron's and GATORS will keep your head on a swivel as you negotiate creeks, ponds and marsh. The 100 plus year old moss covered Live Oaks are beautiful...and dangerous. Some strategically placed so they block out all but the most strategically placed approach shot from the fairway. The course was in exceptional condition, great tee boxes and greens. The fairways were a little sparse of grass along the edges which made it a challenge to 'pick' your ball out of the fairway. Just a few little nits: The EV Carts don't have GPS so grab your range finder. The only food option is INSIDE the club house and you can NOT call in an order from the course. On a VERY busy Sunday, they had only one lady scrambling all day. Even though they have an experienced Cart Crew at bag drop to help w/check-in, NOTHING about it is intuitive or easy, no signs to #1 or #10 tee, driving range or practice putting green. You HAVE to wait and get one of the CART crew to answer these questions because they DON'T offer any of this info at bag drop. They want to get your bags on a cart and get you into the ProShop to pay. When you finish your round, there are NO signs directing you to CART RETURN. It's all mixed in with the bag drop so yes it's a recipe for CHAOS. Once you've done it, yeah you learn but it could be so much BETTER. All in all, the nits can be forgiven after you play your round because it's such a beautiful course with a great design and so much history and wild life. After your first round, you'll be telling others about this 'Hidden Gem'.
