I have two expensive suits alterated by Mr Ma and he did a great job a on them. I was so impressed by their skill and service, I ended up tailor made six more dress shirts from them.

Stripe on the front of the dress left by the tailor.

Do not trust this tailor!!! I had a horrible experience bringing my dress to have the slip hemmed (nothing to do with the front of the dress) and 3 large stripes, burns? were left on the dress. No accountability was taken. I will never ever ever EVER bring anything here again. Be warned, poor quality service!

Hemmed to exactly the length I asked for!

So glad I found this place! I recently moved to Outer Richmond earlier this year and went to Helen's Alterations in the area for one of my altering needs! She did an OK job but since it was right before Halloween weekend when I came in she was frantic and said it would take longer than usual. I was fine with that. Fast forward a few months - I was in a bind for shortening a skirt for my engagement photo shoot and I needed the dress back in 5 days. She completely freaked out and said that was impossible since she has sooo many weddings, bridesmaid dresses, etc. I took my skirt and was about to leave when she said, " OK I'll do it for you but for $70." She was saying the skirt material was difficult and she would have to stay late this week blah blah. I told her no thanks and left. All I had to do was travel a little further to find Ma's Alterations! He promised me it would be ready by my Friday deadline and he took a lot of time to measure and make sure he was being precise, as well as checking for my approval during the process. The dress came back PERFECTLY HEMMED - straight, exact length I wanted, and with no evidence of having been altered. The best parts were his considerably cheaper price than Helen's AND it was done a day EARLIER! What I was being told needed at least a week at the other place literally took him 3 days. I am so happy with his attention to detail and customer service - I'll definitely be back.

Got my dress hemmed and his jacket tailored! A+

Always do a great job! Got my dress tailored and my boyfriends jacket. Both were fantastic.

My wedding dress fixed to be more fitted, was a little loose before around my thigh area before. Such delicate fabric to work with too!

Ma's tailoring fixed my wedding dress and at a very reasonable price! I was nervous leaving my wedding dress here at first but am so happy I did! They do speak some English though I brought my mom to help speak Chinese since I wanted the dress to be fixed exactly how I requested. They did a fantastic job though and I definitely would recommend

    The suit in question.

I brought in a cheap suit and I had a deadline to have the pants hemmed and the jacket taken in, not only were they able to meet my upcoming deadline, but they did wonderful work that went far and above what I expected for the price. Thanks to Mr Ma I was able to look great on a budget officiating my friend's wedding!

Before and after of my dress - Mr. Louboutin would approve ^.-

Mr. Ma and his associates do a great job of tailoring, be it a simple hem or a complex alteration.

Mr Ma and his tailors are great with the details but it can get pretty pricey depending on how many clothing you're getting altered.

And I am very happy with my decision. 100/10 would recommend.

The regular place I take it to, A-track Cleaners, said they could NOT dry clean it, saying it was a complicated task, as my dress was pleated, and that it could ruin their dry cleaning machine. Very disappointing. Anyway, Bluebird Cleaners is also in my vicinity, and they took it no problem, although did give me the disclosure that the stain may not be able to be removed, and that the pleated part of my dress may be ruined too, but the chance was unlikely since the brand Ted Baker was a good one. Bluebird was willing to do the job, $28, which I thought was well worth the price since I love my dress! The turnaround time was 7 days. Within one week, I returned, and the lady remembered my name when I arrived! Wow. And the best part, my dress was stain free, and also still had my beautiful pleat. I am very thankful for their wonderful customer service. I would highly recommend this place. They also take Apple Pay, which was quite handy on my walk with my dog.

I also coincidentally used to work in that area in my suit wearing work years. I would sometimes bring my collared shirts to be cleaned there or jackets that required dry cleaning. In the past few years, I've brought my mom's old jackets and bed comforters to clean. Back to the now, I recently had a major 'oops'. I tried my work neighborhood cleaner but they could not clean my special stain. I came here while on an errand and spoke with the lady co-owner. She examined my problem and could not guarantee being able to clean it, asking me to return in a week. Having a bunch of errands that day, I forgot to pick up my shirt until the following week. Upon getting my shirt, the lady co-owner told me that her husband spent several hours to remove my difficult stain. Big thanks to the husband and wife owners for appreciating my joy in wearing this shirt especially with the Orange and Black doing so well this season. This is just the more reason to support local minority owned businesses.

We…read morehave never had a custom suit made in the U.S. before, and have only gone through the experience once ever for that matter, so we really didn't know what we were doing lol. He had some ideas in mind and so I started the search online. Only a few stores got back to me, and fewer still were able to do what we were looking for, and Knot Standard was one of them. There was a small hiccup in our initial experience - when trying to book online, the confirmed appointment time didn't match what was actually requested (tried more than once and it was always off by an hour). In the end, it was easy enough to email the consultant (Maggie) to fix the issue. We met with Maggie a few times over a few months. The initial meeting was getting an idea of what Knot Standard offers, prices, timelines, etc. Throughout the meeting, we felt informed but didn't feel overwhelmed (for the most part) nor pressured to continue the process if it turned out not to be what we needed. The following meetings were consultations + advice, measurements, fittings, and any adjustments. Maggie is very experienced and was able to answer our million questions! In the end, he chose a blue-ish purple fabric (from Italy IIRC) for a 3-piece tux. We were even able to bring a piece of home with us to our destination wedding via a hidden embroidery of our cats on his inner pocket. He also bought some custom-fitted dress shirts. Pickup was a breeze and included a couple garment bags and a pocket kerchief.

After returning to the office and needing a complete wardrobe refresher, I found Knot Standard during tailored made suit searches. I'm making an appointment was very easy to do online. Maggie was our sales rep and she moved at lightening speed making recommendation of patterns, styles, and textiles. After just a quick 45 minutes, we purchased 3 suits, 2 jackets, and 2 dress shirts. The total was roughly $14k for all of this. Unfortunately one of the suit fabric was out of stock but a close substitute was made. About 6 weeks later, I followed up on the arrival of the clothing and scheduled an appointment for the fitting. During the fitting, my husband and I were shocked that everything fit him perfectly without needing any adjustments. He said the clothes fit him so well, they felt like they were clipped on him like a Lego piece. He was so happy with the look and fit of the clothing, he purchased another suit. Additional Comment-The unfortunate part of my experience is you must be the one to follow up with your suit's arrival. Your sales rep-at least in my experiences-never was the one to call or email me saying the orders where in. Every time, I have had to email the sales rep and when she didn't respond, email the company and they have never responded. So, if you want your orders, it is all up to you to follow up.

I am also writing this knowing there will be a reply blaming me somehow, and I truly just want to help another person who has never been to tailor before. I came to Tina's looking to hem my dress, adjust the waist, and adjust the top of the dress. It seemed like a complicated series of alterations so the price of 500$ seemed justified - especially if Tina was the expert. I read reviews and pictures looked fantastic. I am a bride on a budget for a small backyard wedding. When I came to pickup my dress I tried it on and the bustle looked great. The waist seemed perfect and while the top felt weird I blamed my undergarments. I should have brought someone with me. People also tell you to not freak out if the dress fits a little different compared to when it was clipped at the bridal store, so I paid in full. After trying it on in my room again days later...something did not feel right and I decided to get a second opinion from a bridal salon. After their head seamstress looked at the dress on me she recommended I ask for a refund. She was shocked and claimed it was unacceptable alterations. The hem IS COMPLETELY uneven. I did not notice but one side is higher while the other touches the ground. Not only this but the top needs to be redone. My dress is going to be extremely difficult to fix, and overall I will be paying more than the price of the dress just to make it not look embarrassing. I am a non-confrontational person and I am not asking for a refund; but I am only writing this so that if you are like me and on a budget trying to make your life easier, just suck it up and go to a boutique. Bridalzilla is a term everyone wants to avoid but I wish I followed my gut. If your alteration is complicated go somewhere else. Looking back there were several things that should have made me leave: 1. She is working from her home so it can be awkward. 2. I was not correctly measured 3. Pins at the hem did not go around the entire dress. 4. Several people showed up at the time I was told to arrive. Things were awkward and I felt rushed
