It is tucked in the corner of a small shopping center in the town of Prunedale, near the intersection of Highways 156 and 101. While the outside is nondescript, the bakery itself is beautiful on the inside and the selection of baked goods is extensive and spectacular. So many unique and tempting creations. It is difficult to choose one thing to order because there are so many that look amazing. We tried what they call a roulette which is a round layered pastry that is loaded with flavor. It was absolutely delicious. Not too sweet but just right. The disappointing factor at Gourmet Central Bakery is the coffee. It was incredible weak and flavorless. Not sure if it was the beans they use or the mix of water to coffee, but it was hugely disappointing. It did not compliment whatsoever their incredible baked goods. I hope they will focus on providing beverages that match the quality and creativity of their pastries. I would say check out GCB for all of their incredible baked goods, just don't order coffee until they make some changes. Their baked goods deserve, as do customers, a satisfying coffee pairing.

I used to live on Oahu and went to Adela's for the best ube cheesecake iykyk, so I've been missing…read morereally good ube cheesecake ever since moving back to the mainland. This completely reminded me of it and honestly, it might even be better. The texture was so creamy and smooth, the ube flavor was just right, and everything about it came together perfectly. Not overly sweet, but still so rich and satisfying. If you love ube cheesecake, you NEED to try this. Easily one of the best I've had in a long time!

The cheesecake was so good I had to sit in silence for a minute and reevaluate every life choice that led me to lesser cheesecakes. Creamy, rich, perfectly balanced, and somehow emotionally supportive. I'm pretty sure one bite repaired my credit score. The staff were unbelievably kind too. They treated me like I was a long-lost cousin returning from war with important cheesecake-related news. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming, and smelled like happiness and butter. At this point I don't even think this place is a bakery. I think it's a public service. If Cheesecake Dreamations ever starts a loyalty program, I will accidentally achieve platinum status by Thursday.

What makes this place extra special is how much they do to bring our community together. From Devotions in the Field to storytime for little ones and opportunities to pick your own flowers, there are so many wonderful experiences for families and people of all ages. On top of all that, they have amazing fresh produce! Whether you're looking to enjoy the beauty of the flowers, spend quality time with family, connect with the community, or simply slow down and appreciate God's beautiful creation, The Farm is a special place. One of my favorite places in Salinas!

We love the summer storytime and singing on Wednesdays with Jess, along with the cow train, feeding the goats lettuce cups and doing the u-pick flower experience in their flower field - which is beyond gorgeous! In October we love going for pumpkins and all the Fall things, and my boys love playing in their little outdoor toy tractor area (my boys are 2 and 5 years old for context). They produce the tastiest strawberries, make the yummiest sweet pies and family-size chicken pot pies, and their pizza (offered seasonally on Wednesdays) is also so good! Their farm stand offers a variety of organic produce and gifts and always has a unique hand drawn mural to enjoy. It's curated with adorable toys and books for kids, plus unique finds for adults--perfect when you're looking for a thoughtful gift. Their staff is always so friendly and helpful, and you can tell they pour their hearts into this place, which also makes our time here feel that much more enjoyable! They are a small family-run organic farm and offer a variety of things, some on select days and some only seasonally, so always check with the business before you go so you know what to expect. If you haven't been here, this is a very unique and special place

In my opinion, cookies are one of the most underrated desserts out there. There's really nothing…read morebetter in my book than a good cookie--well, except maybe a cookie and tall glass of ice-cold milk. And yet so few shops here on the Peninsula serve good, old-fashioned cookies. Carolyn's Cookie Company has become my go-to stop for cookies. Carolyn frequents many of the local farmers markets--Pacific Grove on Mondays, Alvarado on Tuesdays and Old Town Salinas on Saturdays. Cookies are available for $1 apiece or six for $5. Carolyn's Cooke Company excels at the traditional cookies--the chocolate chip and the oatmeal raisin cookies are two of my favorites. She also makes some cookies with a little more flair, like chocolate chip and craisin, chocolate chip and mint chip, or toasted walnut and pumpkin spice. And let's not forget the special menu additions, which include chocolate chip and orange or the infamous chocolate chip and bacon. (Yes, a cookie with chocolate chips and bacon! It's actually mighty tasty--sweet, salty and smoky all at once.) Follow Carolyn's Cookie Company on Facebook for news on specials. Whether it's a classic cookie or something with a twist, the dough is so fresh and the cookies always taste homemade with care. The chocolate chips aren't too sweet, letting the flavors of the dough and the mix-in's shine through. My only complaint is that they don't keep very long. So I've taken to ordering in moderation so I can consume my cookies fresh within a day of purchase. Such a sacrifice. Ha! Carolyn's a trooper--always there at farmers market with a smile ready to serve up delicious cookies. I'm looking forward to stopping by this afternoon to pick up a cookie, and I'll try to do my best not to impersonate Cookie Monster while eating it.
