I had my diastasis and umbilical hernia fixed as well as an abdominoplasty. I was fairly happy with the results of the surgery except that after a week at home with my drains, I began having severe pain and redness. I called and she said to come in. A day later I ended up in so much pain I couldn't walk without tears streaming down my face and nearly blacking out. My mom drove me in to her office and her PA said my drain was loose and that's what was causing the pain so she pulled my drain out and immediately I had a lot of pain relief so I could at least walk okay. I told her I thought it was infected as well but she said no it was just painful because it was loose. When I got home, I called Dr. Peter's that evening because I had inflammation (red and hot area), oain, chills and extreme fatigue. I told her I thought I had an infection. She proceeded to completely dismiss my symptoms and told me I just needed to rest. A day later I ended up in the Emergency Room with my belly swollen and super red and hot. Yes, I had cellulitis and an abscess. The bill for that was $3k (with insurance!) and all I needed was antibiotics. This happened yet AGAIN...a month later. I went in...Yet again she dismissed and said it was fine and that I should go work out! I ended up with yet another one...swollen, hot, painful and feeling crappy. Months later I popped a stitch or something happened (I felt like something tore or popped in my belly when I got sick and was vomiting profusely). Over the next few weeks my belly began to get swollen and then painful then hot again. I went to my regular physician because at that point I had no trust in Dr. Peter's. Not only had she missed two infections but she was dismissive and seemed like she thought I was just being dramatic or wanted attention. Do you know what a pain in the butt it is to take a ferry across the water and spend nearly a whole day plus $65-70 just for one measly appointment when you have 3 kids and pets to care for at home? It has now been 18 months and I keep having recurring infections every few months...My belly button has become deformed and randomly begins bleeding and discharging a creamy fluid every few weeks...it ruins my clothes and is embarrassing. Every single time I have gone in she has told me at the longest. I have begun working with a general surgeon in my area who at least ordered ultrasound and MRI scans and aspirated one of the abscess or lumps I keep getting in my abdominal wall. It turned out to be staph. He thinks my belly button is the cause of it and wants to just remove it. Dr. Peter's says don't do that. It'll eventually get better. I'm torn but At least he has taken steps to get an idea of what has been going on. Dr. Peter's never even mentioned a scan or biopsy or gathered any data to solve my issue. When ever I go in to see her, hoping she'll finally care or come up with something to try to figure this out, She just says I'm fine or prescribes an antibiotic and sends me home. To say that I'm frustrated is beyond an under-statement. The fact that I had so many recurring infections was a factor in losing my job in Sept and it has been a huge stress on my family and me (who are already going through an insane amount of stress)...but there has been no actual effort to figure out what's going on and rectify it. read more

Saw Dr. Peters for a consultation. She told me I could take a nicotine test between pre-op appointment and surgery date then wrote something different in the visit notes. When I called to schedule the pre-op, I was informed the office policy is no pre-op or surgery scheduling without a clean nicotine test. True, but she told me during my consultation that I could take the test between surgery scheduling and the pre-op because I told her I know I'll need the hard line motivation of a surgery date to ensure I don't relapse. She and her admin were both condescending and just generally treating me like garbage insinuating that I was just trying to have surgery without quitting nicotine (definitely not the case as I'm not stupid enough to roll the dice on tissue necrosis). She also misquoted me, blatantly lied, and made a racist comment in my visit notes. Apparently, I'm articulate for a black woman! Yay me! Someone should let her know patients can see her notes these days. I decided not to proceed with her for obvious reasons and found there was another surgeon in the same office who is highly skilled at the procedure. I called to schedule a consultation and was spoke to two different people who each contradicted themselves repeatedly. Apparently I can't see any other doctors in the office because they don't "steal patients", but at the same time I need to pass a nicotine test before they let me have a consultation with a different doctor, but at the same time they won't write the lab orders for the test so I need to ask another doctor to order them. All of this to say I've seen quite a few doctors in my lifetime and this experience was far and away the worst healthcare experience I've ever had. Meeting with a doctor to ask for help with such a sensitive issue (breast reduction) puts you in a very vulnerable place. To the find out that doctor was making at least one racist judgement about you during that moment of vulnerability is a truly painful experience. read more

Ever since I was 16 I have wanted a breast reduction, but my mum always said to wait until I was done having kids, so I did. I'm a young mom of two beautiful kids, and once my youngest turned one in September (2016) I stopped breastfeeding and immediately started looking into getting breast reduction. I emailed their office and asked if they took my insurance, they called back the following day and asked me a few questions and confirmed they take my insurance. I made a consultation appointment for late October. Upon meeting Dr Peters (who, by the way, has the most beautiful office and amazing views of Seattle!) I felt very comfortable with my choice of surgeon, she is so friendly and knowledgeable. She had a staff member take pictures and I made a couple pre-op appointments for January. A couple of times my appointments got moved around because they had something urgent come up, meaning the child care I had arranged for wouldnt work out anymore and I had to bring the kids. The staff were great with my kids. Moving forward to my surgery, after my first call to the office in September I started working out and eating healthier. I lost 30lbs by the day of my surgery because I wanted everything to feel amazing and smaller after my surgery. My appointment was Feb 15th at 5:30am, I felt well prepared for everything that was going to happen thanks to all the pamphlets they sent home with me. The only thing I didn't know was that I'd have to provide a urine sample and I went wee while I was getting ready that morning and hadn't had anything to drink since 8pm, whoops! Had to give a blood sample after a long time trying to wee. The surgery went very well, I believe it was about 3 hours, and I was discharged maybe an hour (?) after I was done. Dr Peters called my husband after she was done and informed him everything went well, we both appreciated that. I am ABSOLUTELY AMAZED with what a fantastic job she did, they are perfect!! Every time I pass by a mirror now I ooooh and ahhh at my new boobs, so small compared to what I had, I can wear normal shirts now!!! I haven't been sized yet because I am not fully healed but I'd guess I'm a 36D or DD. I went to Nordstrom the day before my surgery and was sized at a 36J! *whew* what a weight off my shoulders (I think it was about 1.5 lbs out of each boob). I did develop an infection a couple weeks after my surgery, it was extremely painful and I called their office after-hours, and spoke to an operator who said an on-call doctor would call me back. Dr Peters performed an arm lift on me a month ago. I had lost significant weight, so six months earlier I had a breast reduction and tummy tuck. Went in for an augmentation and the experience could have been better. Office has a great view. Staff was ok, not too friendly more "blah". Spent 10 minutes with the doctor who didn't give me much information about the process and choosing a size. I spent a vast majority of my time with the medical assistant!! I had a breast reduction done by Dr Peters 5 mos ago. I also asked her to lipo my hips, back and under my arms. I'm happy with the breast reduction but the results of the lipo is very minimal. I was hoping for way better and more noticeable results. During one of my follow up visits with Dr Peters I mentioned to her that I wish more fat was removed in those areas where she performed lipo-especially my hips and back fat. She told me that sometimes it could take a year to see the full results AND if I can loose a few pounds, not alot, just a few it would make a difference! When I heard that I wanted to say "well, the reason why I paid more for lipo is BECAUSE IM HAVING A HARD TIME LOSING WEIGHT especially in those areas!" I mean, isn't that why people have lipo??
