Very Disappointing Experience…read more I had a very disappointing and upsetting experience with Dr. Gold. I went to the ENT because I was experiencing speech difficulties, including slurring and difficulty pronouncing certain words, and wanted to determine whether there could be any vocal cord or ENT-related issue, particularly in connection with TMJ. From the moment I walked into his office, I felt dismissed. He seemed more concerned about his lunch order than meeting and listening to a new patient. I explained that I had already been evaluated by a neurologist, including blood work and physical testing, which had been normal, and that I was scheduled for a brain MRI to rule out other possibilities. Unfortunately, Dr. Gold was cold, judgmental, and dismissive of my concerns about TMJ. He did not explain what he was doing during the examination and simply put an instrument down my throat and told me everything looked normal. What was most disturbing was that, despite saying he could not diagnose ALS, he suggested that my symptoms were similar to the onset of ALS and then told me I "shouldn't go to a dark place." I found this incredibly irresponsible and frightening, particularly coming from an ENT who was not conducting a neurological evaluation. When I told him that his comments had made me very worried, his response was that he was "worried for me." There is a huge difference between appropriately recommending that a patient follow up with a neurologist and introducing a frightening diagnosis into the conversation without the appropriate expertise or context. His comments caused me significant anxiety for days. Thankfully, my subsequent brain MRI was normal. I understand that doctors cannot always provide immediate answers, but patients deserve compassion, clear communication, and responsible handling of uncertainty. I left this appointment feeling frightened and dismissed rather than reassured or supported. Based on my experience, I would not recommend Dr. Gold.

What makes this even more frustrating is that my health insurance had recently dropped this provider, but I was still willing to keep the appointment and pay out of pocket if necessary because I wanted to move forward with my hearing care. After being treated this way, I've changed my mind. I will not be returning and will take my business elsewhere. Patients deserve better communication, organization, and professionalism--especially when they take the time to make and confirm an appointment.

When I called back someone told me the appt was being cancelled because Dr Choe would not be in today. Then they changed back to the original excuse. This is completely unacceptable. If the Dr does not treat a particular condition, that should have been identified when the appt was scheduled-not after making me wait six weeks in pain. Waiting until the day of the appt demonstrates a serious lack of organization and respect for me as a patient. Rather than taking responsibility for their error, the office simply tried to hand me off to another provider at the last minute. This is not the level of patient care I expect from a specialty practice. Mistakes happen but this one was entirely preventable. Unfortunately this experience fell short of a standard that I deserve and expect. It is unfortunate because Dr Choe is one of the most compassionate, caring and knowledgable doctors I have had the pleasure of seeing . There were people with no masks and masks under their chins and noses. The staff did their best to mitigate. I met with Dr. Lesserson, and let him know that I didn't want to remove my mask if he was going to have to send me for a test to get a diagnosis anyway. Instead of providing reasons or reassurance, he seemed angry and said there was no covid in there, it wasn't on the walls and we didn't have to wash food anymore. Um, I didn't ask any of that, or even tell him what I just saw, I was just trying to limit my exposure. Then he said he had other patients, finished the exam and sent me for a test. When I got the results (weeks later), it seemed he was still angry. After several requests over several days, he would not call me to review test results or provide follow up care (what to do next), unless I came in for a 'full exam'. UPDATE: he called, went over everything with me and politely answered all of my questions.

There is also a waiting area outside as well, though they ask you to stay in your car until they call you when the doctor is almost ready. I saw Dr. Scherl who was very professional in his bedside manner and had plenty of expertise. He was able to treat and resolve my issue quickly and took care of the problem gently. The staff was also very professional and friendly. Overall I thought this was a very good experience and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for ENT care.

Consider they are pretty busy all the time. I was able to get a same date appointment with my doctor. I scheduled online which was easier than before (I had to call before they had the upgrades). The staff, nurses and doctors are always nice and caring. They listen to your concerns and perform/order necessary tests. Prescriptions will go to your pharmacy electronically. I would recommend the primary care and walk-in here.
