Wife made appt since D-In-Law takes her small dog there. We have a nice mellow neutered male cat about15+ pounds that is primarily an inside critter but goes out daily and returns. For last 8+ mths we've had a cougar come by our home monthly and our cat in is not inclined to spend as much time outside.
So he needed a full cut, some matting removed, nails done and a Spa day. I brought him in for the appt at 9 am and no one was around and place locked tight. About 915 another client came with a poodle and started with doorbell, nothing, finally banging on the door and a woman came from somewhere and let her in with the dog.
i had be cat in a nice zippered carrier and brought him in, waited my turn (although women knew I had been sitting waiting,. Explained the sitrep with my docil cat, the cougar, more matting than the norm etc and as I had said making appt I wanted him to get his nails done, a bath and as much hair cut off to get the matting removed. Woman seemed to understand, said it would be about 2+ hours and they would text or call with a 20 min notice,
Seemed to go well, got a text, called them to confirm time and arrived within 10 minutes of their estimate. Cat was in the carrier, on floor behind counter which is tall. Woman sat cat on top and I said hello to Harley, he answered me as usual and I paid the bill which made me flinch as it was $100 for a bath, cut and nails. I asked if their prices included a gratutity and if not did they accept it. It did not, so I choked and paid the $100 and gave them an extra $10. As an old retired guy that's a lot of money for a cat cut and bath.
I picked up the carrier with Harley inside put it in the front seat and headed home talking some to the cat as is the norm. Got home, carried him in, set him down by couch, disabled the alarm, picked up a new collar I'd bought from bag and sat down alongside the cat carrier.
Unzipped it called the cat and he jumped on my lap and I was mortified at what I saw. The cat is a long hair Maine Coon cat and they have cut him like a Poodle or African Lion with a full Maine which I had not noticed looking thru the mesh top of the carrier because all I saw was his head and Maine.
I was not a happy camper and sent a pix to my wife at work who was as livid and hot as I have ever seen her and she is a true Irish woman. She called and gave me hell until I said what is above here and then she called the shop and was polite (somehow) and the woman became a condescending bitch and much said I had told them to give him a lion or poodle buzz cut which is BS. Never was the word we'r sorry uttered, nor an offer to trim him foot cuffs, the puff at the end of his tail or the puffed out Lions Maine on his head and shoulders. It was "So? It'll grow out by winter, live with it!"
So, Do not take your pet in there! We relied on our daughter in law and did not look at comments. read more
