    Gross

While I appreciate the effort put into providing a variety of family fun activities that the kids enjoyed, the actual accommodations need significant improvement. The presence of mold and mildew in the shower made it unusable, and the overall upkeep of the facility is lacking. The floors and baseboards are dirty, and many light fixtures either don't work or have missing bulbs. The most concerning issue is the apparent water damage and mold problems. Visible signs of water issues, such as old ceiling patch jobs, and the mold have caused several of us to experience symptoms like runny noses, eye irritations, headaches, and coughing. The "bring a pet and pay a $300 cleaning fee" is a joke, the floors here are so gross I wouldn't let my child play on it. I hope the owners address these critical issues to ensure a healthier and more pleasant stay for future guests, but I won't ever be back here.

Our cabin is the first picture posted on their Facebook page as the winner of the cabin decorating contest.

We had an absolutely wonderful first trip to Marval. However, we won the cabin decorating contest during the Halloween festivities this year and forgot to pick up our certicate for a two night stay in a deluxe cabin. We called when we were only one hour away and were reassured they would keep this for us and we could call to book our next stay at Marval. I called today to do so and was told by the general manager Stacy that I was given the wrong information by her staff and that maybe had I called within a week to rebook or turned around to get the paper certificate this would have been honored. I am extremely disappointed in this response when I was reassured that we did not need to turn around to get the certificate. I am also very disappointed in the way I was dismissed on the phone and told there was nothing she could do to make this right.

dirty blinds, holes in walls, broken furniture, insulation hanging out, rusted sink

Dirty, smelly, old cabins. We rented three deluxe cabins for our family for thanksgiving. There was nothing deluxe about them! They were dirty, smelly, gross and old. The blinds were very dirty, broke, did not fit windows, holes in the walls, rusted bathroom sink, dirty floors, smelled bad, lights flickered, shower's did not drain, leaking plumbing, dirty grout, gaps in walls. Not acceptable. These are not the ones our family stayed in before. These are the ones that are dog friendly! They are gross, dirty, and should not be rented!!

After many, many years of taking my kids here, I will never ever spend another dime with them. I'm the guy that *rarely ever* complains about a bad experience online, and always gives a glowing review when I can. In this case I want to warn anyone that might consider going, they should be aware what they're walking into. The site we paid for was $75... Long story ahead, but the way we were treated was unfathomable, and I hope nobody EVER experiences anything like it there again. We arrived Thursday and our site was under water, but a couple guys were trying to pump water so they started helping me figure out how to get in the site. Ended up parking backwards, unable to use the sewer hookup I paid for, and they got the water to drain with a sump pump just enough to hook up the utilities without being under water. I asked the office if there was anything they could do, and was told "Well you can go home if you don't want to deal with it" - mind you these sites are all reserved a year ahead, so the kids and their friends I brought would be devastated if I took that option. I sucked it up and made the best of it. Overnight, it rained again, and these pictures are how we woke up the next morning. I called and spoke with a sweet lady, told her we were trapped, I mean who wants to get out in 4-6" of water when there's electric lines connected in the middle of the water? I simply asked if she could let the kind gents know that had so kindly tried to help the day before, maybe they could bring their sump pump. She called me back 5 minutes later, said "I'm so sorry to tell you this, but when I went over the walkie to say y'all needed help, the ladies in the office immediately replied with "DON'T BOTHER"... I thought, oh gosh I wish you wouldn't have told me that... She went on to say the guy over housekeeping also said "Yeah don't bother"... I pleaded for them to just get in a golf cart and come *look* at how bad it was. Nope. Nothing. At that point the lady said they have water shoes in the office they could sell me. Sooooo, we stayed in the camper all day. No offer to drag a table over to help us get out, nothing. Eventually a kind neighbor brought over a pallet so we could get out. Of course on the 3rd day, it started drying out, and the kids eventually got to experience the fun halloween activities, despite the absolutely horrific customer "service" at this place. Mid-day a friend camping down the road caught one of the very awesome maintenance guys and informed them of our situation, and he brought his pump down to try and help too. I hope they actually fix this site, or get rid of it so people don't get totally screwed like we did. Be warned, if you have any issues at Marval, they will likely tell you "You can go home if you don't like it"...

Never stay here! We got severely bitten by beg bugs over a year ago. Our family has been going here for many years so we thought we would give it another chance now that it's under new management. After one night, we all had bed bug bites all over us. It was a cold December night and we were inside mostly and there was a screened porch so no risk of mosquitoes. Management did not care and proceeded to rent the cabin out again after that and did not believe us even though the majority of cabins on site were mysteriously vacant yet also unavailable. I peeked in and it looked like the one we stayed in before while it was being treated for bed bugs. Do not stay here. Pic attached showing the cabin which I'm thankful we took because they do not believe their guests and continue to rent cabins out knowingly with bed bugs. Best part? No refunds!

Just planted their pumpkin seed at the magic pumpkin field. Fairy's and scarecrows are so fun!

We camped for 2 nights and recommend site 15, or the 3 spots closest to the river. But what the absolute best part was getting to watch Siloam Springs' 4th of July fireworks from the parking lot at the camp. They were going off literally across the street, and we had the whole place to ourselves. Incredibly experience!!!

What a horrible experience! Let me first start off by saying that over the years I have spent…read morehundreds (maybe even thousands) of dollars floating & camping @ Gypsys. I have 3 kids under 9 that are small enough to sit on a kayak with an adult. Most of the time my husband & I rent 3 kayaks, a $90 rental. On this occasion we had friends with their own kayaks floating and we decided to rent a tandem kayak instead, a $60 rental, and let 2 children ride with the friends. Upon arrival, I asked my husband to pull up to the stairs & drop me off so that I could check in. It's the bus turn around area, there appeared to be no other customers present except 1 other person in our party, my knee was killing me, and it wasnt a big deal. However, the young man driving the bus didnt think so and was quick to reprimand. I explained my husband was just dropping me with my injured knee off so I could check in. The young man with his super trooper shades then repeated himself and continues to tell me about it being the bus turn around and how we aren't supposed to drive there. It was a no harm, no foul situation and I really didn't feel I needed a lecture as my husband was just trying to help me avoid any extra knee pain. My first indication of the rudeness I was about to encounter. The owner Jerrid greeted me when I walked in the office. He tells me I had to pay the take out fees for my friends kayaks. Friends boats, not mine. I tried to call my friends but couldn't get through so I paid the fees for the boats that weren't mine, $15. Then he tells me each of my kids has a $20 shuttle fee adding up to $60. According to the website, this is the fee per person for shuttling boats, but now he is telling me its for shuttling 3 small kids, all less than 50lbs each, on a bus going 3.5 miles with their parents. We went from a $60 rental to $135 to cover my friends boats docking there and shuttle(bus) fees for 3 small kids without boats. I tried to explain that we had never had shuttle fees for my children & I felt at least one of them should be included in the $60 rental, as they had never charged me extra for shuttling them with 3 kayaks and I have ALWAYS been upfront about taking my kids. I mentioned the really nice blonde haired lady that worked the office in the past & how she knew the situation. Maybe that's what set him off, as I suggested she was his wife and he is divorced. Or maybe it was just that I wasn't willing to hand over $75 more to him on a slow, end of the season day bt this is when he began raising his voice & talking over me. He proceeded to tell me how I have been stealing from him if I had not paid his shuttle fees in the past. Lets call them bus fees as there was no boat shuttling involved here. I said I would have my friends at the kayak park come get my children, no big deal. He continued yelling at me and slamming things, not just in front of his children that were in the room but he followed me outside, slamming the doors in his establishment, and yelling at me in front of my children. He literally yelled that all I 'had to do was be kind'. He yelled it! Stop for a second a check yourself Jerrid. I wasn't treated with an ounce of kindness from the second we pulled in. Jerrid slammed the door of his office so hard that it was felt in the stairs on the other side and my family said you could see the windows shake. All because I wasn't willing to pay the excessive fees he presented & found a reasonable way to save $. He then tried to tell us to all get on the shuttle after having a temper tantrum about shuttle fees & me being a thief. As it turns out, my friends had already paid that $5/boat fee. Ironic bc he accused me of stealing from him. When informed, Jerrid threw cash at my friend & told him I wasn't welcomed back & he's going to "put my name in the computer". Jerrid you can put it in the computer, write it on a wall, sketch it in some stone, but there is no way I will EVER support your establishment again. He's clearly unstable. Jerrid & his staff have a lot to learn about being gracious to their customers.

We brought a picnic and the fur babies and made a day of it! The only tiny complaint was the QR codes were scratched out so there was no way for people to pay for parking. Bathrooms were clean and well stocked, trails were in excellent shape, trash cans were pretty full due to all the people but not overflowing. They have a carnival and inflatables for kids too. But this state park itself is one of my favorites. I've been going since I was a child, and the lake is so beautiful. I love to rent a paddleboat! They have yurts to rent, putt putt golf, and a snow cone/coffee stand that has become better and better over the years. The lookout kitchen is finally open after that whole debacle with the state, but I need to go back and try it. The building is beautiful though and right in the water. We've camped here in our RV too, and the spots are spacious, quiet, and very woodsy. It's always fun to hike up to the cave too. The history of this area is so cool. The trails are great, and there are options for ability levels. I always go green or yellow. You can often find people rappelling too! Definitely give this state park a try.
