After years of knowing this place has really gone down the tubes, I reluctantly stopped here for breakfast in the interest of convenience. Lets just say the employees here could be described as anything but intelligent. I ordered 2 breakfast sandwiches and stood back and waited. Within a minute or 2 another customer orders 2 breakfast sandwiches very similar to my order yet different. The 2 sandwiches come to the counter and they call over the customer who came after me with the similar order. I thought to myself ..."Wow that's odd, we order almost the same thing and I ordered before him and yet his is ready first even though his order involved additional steps during preparation" I try to get their attention to ensure he is not being given my order since I was there and ordered before him but I am ignored. The next 2 sandwiches come out and I question them if they're the ones on the specific bagel I asked for and I'm looked at like I have 2 heads. I opened the foil and of course they're wrong, so I tell them but they turned their backs and went back to working. Tips for this place: 1) Don't go here, this is not the same place it was 20 years ago. (They should change their name) 2) Monitor other peoples orders in order to receive the right food because the employees clearly do not. read more

Service is so slow, almost non existent. Like you walk in, any workers there are over in the corner by the grill talking. This has happened to me a handful of times. Workers standing around talking, hiding, no one running the register or there to take a simple order. I literally just wanted a bagel. I cream cheese it myself cause I don't like the way they glop it on anyway. Stand around waiting for no help. Like I said this happened several times, it's on my way to work, however as others have suggested I will just take a different route and go to nyack hot bagels, that is always bustling, and the workers there actually work! Unfortunately this place actually looked spruced up today. New layout, and looks much cleaner than before, but unfortunately I will not be recommending or returning! Six stars if that were possible. The bagels are great. They do really load them up with cream cheese or lox spread, so you might have some leakage. We have good bagels in San Rafael CA, but they are not in the same class with these. Take out or eat in - we managed to be there when it was not too busy so YMMV. read more

It's early in the morning, you just flew into Newark and are heading to your friend's house to crash. After taking the red eye from San Diego to Jersey, you are hungry, tired and a bit out of it. Fair enough, it is technically 4am to your body. Fortunately, there is a place in Orangeburg that has a quick line, warm, fresh bagels and a coveted XXX Vitamin Water just waiting for you. In college, this is where you would usually find me on a Friday afternoon for breakfast after a crazy Thirsty Thursday. Their bacon egg and cheeses always did the trick for me and hit the spot. The bagels I remember; were always fresh. I always received my food pretty quick which I absolutely loved. I always ordered the bacon egg and cheese. The bacon was cooked perfectly, nice and crisp. The coffee was also fresh brewed and hot. In the mornings this place is usually packed which is a good sign. The people working there are also very nice. You can take what you ordered to go or simply stay there and enjoy your meal on one of their high tables. I have tried other bagels stores in Rockland County. I came across Marty's Bagels on my way to Dominican College. I was looking for a good, quick spot to grab some breakfast and Marty's was in a perfect spot for me to do so. I ordered a bacon, egg, and cheese on a whole wheat bagel. Since I was in a bit of a rush, I appreciated how fast my order was ready. On the other hand, my order came out unusually fast. I know it's beyond the laws of physics to cook an egg this fast so I was a little skeptical. As I opened up the tin foil to eat, I noticed the egg looked like it was microwaved. It seemed like something you would get with Dunkin Donuts egg sandwiches. Now I fully understand why my order was ready so fast. The sandwich wasn't bad by any means but when I go to a bagel store I would like to have my egg fried on the grill instead of using the microwave. Anyway, the bagel was spectacular. It was soft and chewy just the way I like it. The bacon was also very crispy and full of flavor. Overall, if it wasn't for the bagel, I would have given Marty's a solid 2 stars. I will give them a second chance one day and I hope they redeem themselves with a nice fried egg off the grill. read more

Absolutely the bane of my existence because I can not get enough of their bacon, egg, and cheese on an everything bagel. I look forward to Sunday mornings when DH goes to pick up our egg sandwiches, coffee, and extra bagels for the week. I have never had softer or more lovelier bagels my entire life. They are like pillows of heaven and the egg sandwiches are always cooked to perfection. There is usually a long line on the weekends but it goes pretty quick. Most of the time they are out of everything bagels which is a must for me but they will let you know if they have a batch coming out soon which is 99% of the time within a few minutes of waiting. The cashiers were really friendly and it was a pleasure to talk to them, but I was not a fan of Marty's deli counter. The rolls were stale and there wasn't that much variety in terms of meats. For a sandwich that wasn't too great it was on the expensive side. Supposedly I got a "free" drink with my sandwich, but I'd prefer they knock a dollar or two off the sandwich and let me determine if I want to purchase a drink! I can't rate this too low because it is a bagel shop, not a deli, and according to bagel reviews those seem to be good. read more

I love marty's bagels and have since freshman year of hs. They have never let me down. In this town, I can't think of another baconeggcheese place I'd rather get a baconeggcheese. The prices are fair, if not exceptionally accurate for the price of baconeggcheese, they have lunch specials, and I am pretty sure they serve baconeggcheeses all day. Yay! read more

What happened to this place? The bagels are still decent but the bacon, egg and cheese sandwiches are horrible. I keep hoping it will get better but it seems to get worse. The high school kids are not in there like they used to be which should be a sign. If you order with the women who is there during the week she never gets the sandwich right, usually forgets the cheese. This morning there was a display case with cold medicine and vicks vapor rub in it. Makes you wonder who is sneezing and coughing on your food. Just gross! read more

Went to the deli for some sandwiches. The food was good, what little bit of it we got. If I'm going to pay $10 for a hero, I expect there to be a decent amount of meat and toppings. What I got was 4 slices of meat, some strips of lettuce and a spritz of mayo. The bagels might be good, but skip this place and go somewhere else for lunch. read more

Marty's Bagels has certainly lost a step since it's prime days. My wife asked for not too much cream cheese and there was literally the tiniest smear on one side. I asked the guy behind the counter for a toasted bagel (just toasted on the inside,) he looked at me like I asked him the Pythagorean theorem. You Are A Bagel Store! My $25 toaster at home has the ability. In the end I would up with a bagel burnt on both sides. I tried one more time with the same result. I've been going to Marty's for 25 years and I hate to say I will be looking for a new bagel shop. read more

I enjoyed the bagels recently purely by accident. I was leaving work and needed a quick lunch. I stopped and bought a tuna on Whole Wheat Bagel. The service was fast the sandwich delicious and they used white meat tuna for the sandwich. The Bagel was chewy and tasty. Additionally, I lost my wallet there , they found it and returned it to me in tack. How nice that they kept it and gave it back. You don't always find that kind of honesty lately. read more

This was my favorite bagel place to go to, however the service has way down hill over the months. I order two bagels with the same thing on it and they write it down exactly how I say it. So two bacon egg and cheese with salt, pepper and ketchup. they finish my order and I get home with two wrong bagels. Neither one with salt, pepper and ketchup. And I understand if they're busy and crowded but there was just me and one other person in there. Don't go here unless you're getting something simple. read more

OK...So you all know that Marty's brother was the ORIGINAL Bagel Boy in Suffern???? Back in the 80's when it was a tiny little bakery??? No doubt though, Martys bagels has definately carried on the tradition of having THE BEST bagels in the county....Always pop in at least once a week, bagels are crispy on the outside, and soft on the inside, never doughy...and the coffee is equally as good!!!!
