Please note, we didn't actually stay here. This review is about the handling of our reservation. We were using booking.com for all of our reservations in Italy but we booked this one directly on their website. And this was a total mistake.
Our flight was delayed 24 hours and we contacted Martius who gracefully provided a credit for 297€ (not a refund). Once we arrived in Italy, we decided to extend our stay and use our credit and contacted Martius again to rebook a reservation. However, the price they offered us was 669€- the price increased overnight by nearly 400€. We attempted to appeal to their professionalism and business practices given that on booking.com the room was quoted at 100€ less. When we asked them to honor their current price they refused stating that it was for online bookings only.
As a tourist who had their honeymoon delayed by a day at a huge financial cost, you can imagine the frustration and sense of powerlessness one feels from an interaction as inhospitable as the one we had with this supposed business of hospitality. We have Italian friends who are also in the hospitality business who wouldn't have exploited their prospective guests in this manner.
I am sure the rooms and experience is delightful for those who make it through the doors but unfortunately this was not available to us at a reasonable price. read more
Gorgeous, old building with very modern rooms with 12-15 ft ceilings, very modern and spacious rooms and bathrooms, exclusive small hotel in great location, very hospitable staff, beautifully decorated, some with gold leaf. Unusual to find something like this in Rome. Prices very reasonable for value. read more
