Our room had a full sized bed and also a bunk bed. The amount of space was just enough for the 2 of us. The bathroom is a little small, specifically the shower but since we're small people it was fine. Check-in is contactless--they send you info on how to check in and where to park the day before your arrival. I really appreciated how fast they responded to requests and concerns. I texted them twice about a light bulb and also about the door code not working and someone was there to fix both issues within a few minutes. Also, the breakfast spread in the morning was really good! They had a coffee machine, fruit, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, oatmeal, granola bars. In addition there was an also a different burrito or sandwich plus pastry for us to grab each morning.

Situated near Donner Lake, the Inn is perfectly situated to be close to the famous Donner Historic Park (just a few minutes up the freeway) and also the beautiful Donner Lake beach area. There is also a great little pub across the street from the beach area, too. Downtown Truckee is also just a few minutes down the freeway. And, although it wasn't snow season yet, it's also close by the Donner Ski area. The property as some parking spots that are convenient to the lodging rooms. The family run lodge has no-frills style breakfast take-away items - such as boiled eggs, yogurt, granola bars, and also some featured made items (scones and breakfast burritos), but be aware it's available from around 7:30a (and our hikes had us leaving earlier than that). The rooms are "self-check" style, so be prepared to read your follow up communications from the managers w/your check in process. The rooms are simple but clean - featuring a controlled temperature stovepipe style fire place and window seat overlooking the forest behind the lodge. There is also a small stream on one side of the property. All-in-all a great spot that's convenient and less crowded and less-pricey than most spots in the Truckee area and the rooms are quaint and rustic but nice, too.

We booked and three bed and three bath and really enjoyed the space. There is also a fully stocked kitchen, full size refrigerator and freezer, a washer and dryer, and plenty of common space. We could have stayed for a month and all been very comfortable. The only reason I'm giving four stars instead of five is that the service was somewhat lacking. This could have been due to the off season, but we had an odd experience where cleaning staff entered our room accidentally, realized it was not an empty room, and left. However, they left our door wide open. We were gone for the day, so we don't know how long everything was open and if anyone else entered the room. Despite the issue with our room, we would happily stay here again. The cost for what you get makes it very worthwhile.

We loved every bit of the place from Opie the Great Pyrennees dog, to the solar power that warmed our bath, to the gorgeous wood buidlings, to the delish mountain water, to the gorgeous remote location in Coldstream Canyon. We will definitely go back. Now I'm itching to learn to snowshoe to go there in the winter! 4 wheel drive & clearance A MUST in the summer to get there. The only improvements I would recommend are for the place to use biodegradable soaps (dish, body & laundry) and other household items. It was disheartening to be off the grid in nature's bounty and discover antibacterial dish soap, and Zest bar soap in use.

So than we get to the front to check in and she says yes we can't honor your free rooms when we are almost booked I said you are always booked every weekend and they said well we have events going on and they bring us in more money than you normal people so we prefer them ummm wtf who say that to people checking into your hotel. We really enjoyed our stay here and definitely will be back. Some things I enjoyed specifically about our room: Each room has its only heating and cooling system so you can control each area. The master baths bathtub is like the biggest tub I've ever seen. I loved how many lights I could dim. Both couches were pull out couches which made 4 sleeping areas if needed. The private parking right next to our elevator. The gondola lifts access right inside our lobby. The washer and dryer. Little bit of everything to make our stay comfortable such as extra towels, laundry soap plenty of extra bedding and toilet paper. My personal complaints: The bedding and pillows at our room were pretty cheap quality. Blankets and sheets were super stiff and uncomfortable pillows super flat. Didn't sleep well or fall asleep well. The bath tub and shower didn't work in the spare room. On Saturday night (I assume weekends the machines running right outside our balcony ran super late and pretty early. Typically I like some white noise but I can see how that would be very disturbing to others.) The hot tub on our site is completely shut down. There was an obnoxious amount of little tables everywhere I just ended up trying to pile everything in an area to make walking room Lastly there isn't any really good coffee at the entire resort I tried every spot including the coffee that was provided in our room. Overall great experience. Beautiful buildings. Friendly staff everywhere.
