My floors look new, and now closely match the color to the connecting hallway. Everything is cohesive. Regrettably, I made the mistake of hiring my contractor (now former!) to previously refinish the same four floors. They made a mess. Fast forward, this team fixed the rough spots and welts, and, left nothing underneath the poly (e.g., brush hair, knee pad prints, etc.). AJ is a testament to flooring being a specialty, just as plumbing and electrical are. (Tip: All flooring services charge for moving furniture, as I discovered while getting initial quotes. So if you want to save a few hundred dollars, have family and friends help you move furniture before and after the refinishing job.) I personally will use this team going forward for my flooring needs.

We had old oil-based orangey wood in the hallways, which they sanded and matched perfectly to the new wood. We then went with a beautiful water based poly that he recommended. His crew worked hard, showed up on time and finished on time. We could not have been happier with their work!

Tao and his crew did an amazing job installing our new engineered hardwood floors…read more We needed to get rid of our carpet and replace it with new hardwood floors. When Tao first came by for a free estimate, he had great suggestions to make the space look larger and more open. We wanted to try to match the existing hardwood floors we already had as much as possible. Tao immediately knew what kind of floors to use and he even had samples on hand so that I could compare them with our current floors. Tao's estimate was very reasonable and comparable to other companies I reached out to. I went with Tao because of his background as a designer and I trusted he would make sure the floors look great! It ended up being a great decision because we are very happy with our new floors! The installation process was very smooth and even finished earlier than expected. The crew was very respectful of our home and did a great job keeping the house clean after their work was done. Any minor issues I found during installation were immediately remedied by the team without any issue. Overall, I would highly recommend reaching out to Tao for your next flooring project!

Tao stood out for how knowledgeable he was. First, he was clearly knowledgeable. Based on photos alone, he corrected me that the wood was not mahogany (as our home inspector said) but instead Brazilian cherry. I verified that he was correct with the listing agent. No other company did this. Second, he had the lowest quoted price for the job. Third, after I selected him, he was transparent about tradeoffs rather than purely trying to upsell me. For example, he quoted me on installing wood registers everywhere when I asked, but recommended I do so only in the hallways. This advice saved me $1k and delivered a result in very happy with. Finally, Tao was easily the most response person I interacted with. It was a pleasure to work with Tao, and I'm very happy with the outcome.

Everyone worked hard - from the time they walked in until the time they left. The quote was great and inside the budget we'd allowed and we got a ton more than we expected - broken boards replaced, boards that had been replaced with the wrong wood were removed and redone with the correct, matching wood, a couple of boards that didn't lay completely flat were repaired, and so on. But the finished floors were the star of the show! The floors look new. Not repaired, not improved - NEW. We have a long house, and you can see a huge expanse of wooden flooring from one end to the other, and the effect is now gorgeous. We are entirely happy and we got exactly what we'd hoped for. We recommend Max and Luxe Flooring 100% and would use them without hesitation on any further refinishing projects.
