I had a really unfortunately placed and embarrassing stain happen on one of my most favorite pair of white vintage Levi's jeans years ago and gave up on them as everything I tried over the years never worked to remove the stain. I usually come here just for the dry cleaning services for my more special pieces, but thought what the heck might as well have them try and see what they could do before I deem them fully unwearable. I was half expecting disappointment and half hoping that professional expertise would make a difference. To say that I am over the moon with the results would be an understatement!!! This specific style of Levi's are really hard to come across in my size and I'm so thankful that they are back in my rotation! A bit expensive, but quick turnaround times. $4.95 for each dress shirt and $15 for a coat. Dropped off on Monday, was able to pick up by Thursday. They accept credit card, so it is okay if you do not have cash! A little pricey for dry cleaning and coin street parking which is quite limited. I am speechless over what this establishment did to my dress shirts. When I moved to Berkeley this summer, I brought in over two dozen dress shirts for laundering. When I got the shirts back, every single one of them had the paper tag *stapled* directly to the shirt, rather than threaded through a buttonhole, the way dry cleaners have been doing it since, oh, the pleistocene epoch. They stapled through tags, and when they couldn't find a tag, they stapled directly through the fabric of perfectly good linen, cotton, and woven silk dress shirts. Stapling through a tag is bad enough: I had to spend over an hour removing more than 50 of the confounded things, since the staples were so scratchy. But what's unforgivable is stapling directly through fabric, leaving staple holes behind. How can their supplier not provide tags that can be threaded through buttonholes? What did they save, like a tenth of a cent per shirt? In some cases the staples -- two per shirt -- were thankfully hidden under the collar, but in the rest the staples were actually visible when the shirt was worn. What were they thinking? And in the pièce de resistance, they actually wrote on the interior of two shirts in permanent marker. A lovely keepsake of their service, I suppose. I've added a photo to document all this. My new rating is one star because without prior notice, the owner, Jack, has started using a scented (perfumed) liquid starch. For years he used an unscented powdered starch but switched to a scented starch when just one customer complained about a few spots of dried starch on his/her shirts. If you are sensitive to fragrances, or simply don't want your shirts to stink of cheap perfume, you should now take your business elsewhere. The perfume in the starch is very toxic to people with asthma or chemical sensitivities, and will also contaminate clothes that are dry cleaned there. Very unfortunate that a trusted vendor has made this mistake. read more

I have only been there once, and maybe this is a once-in-a-lifetime experience, but I really wish they didn't "lose" my brand new Armani Exchange shirt. Who loses a shirt?? And doesn't offer to pay for it? The weird thing is how they handled it: I came in to pick the shirt up, the man goes back to look for it. And never comes back out. Three, four people come in and we are all waiting. Finally a woman comes out, and vaguely says the man is looking for it. After 20 minutes I had to f ask them to call me tomorrow when they found it. They never called. When I called them, the man eventually says he's "looked all night and hasn't found it up until now." "So did you find it?" "No." I'm waiting to hear an apology, and offer of replacing the cost of the shirt...nothing. I finally had to ask him directly to send me a check for the shirt ($64), to which he agreed. Said he would put it in the mail the next day. It's been 4 days....no check yet. Bad experience: evasive, and costumer service that left a real bad taste in my mouth. I wouldn't recommend bringing them anything that you care about: you may not see it again. Oh, and another thing: They mentioned they were working " to get a stain out of the back" of the shirt. Sophia is the lady that runs this shop and she is friendly, efficient, and SKILLED: -Removed stains from a colorful, delicate, 100% silk dress. No fading, color came back perfect. -Hemmed sleeve of suit jacket/blazer where there were four faux buttons and faux stitched button holes on the sleeve that had to be moved up and re-done. Her handiwork looked like the original manufacturer. -Prom dress/wedding reception dress with lace and beading on the bodice taken in 2 sizes. Fits perfect now and perfect attention to detail. She even re-sewed the loose beads. Wish I had taken my formal wedding gown to be altered here instead of another tailor "specializing in wedding dresses" (ahem, this "wedding dress" tailor charged more and their work was not as good as Sophia's) -Reasonably priced for all of these jobs! read more

In a word: disappointed I look for a cleaners that can get my collars super clean. When I first came here, after looking at other Yelpers' views, I was satisfied. But things have seriously gone down hill. My collars are not as clean as they were, and when I asked about it, the response was: "You'll have to get them dry-cleaned." No mention of "Oh, we'll try to focus on getting that done for you!" As for dry cleaning: when I spend $10 for a suit, I don't think it's too much to expect that when I get it home and take the plastic off it WON'T be covered in lint. I had to use 3 lint roller sheets to get all of the lint off. Wait, why do I have to do this? It was SUPPOSEDLY just cleaned! Although I doubt this mom-and-pop shop reads online reviews, I won't be coming back. Your lackluster customer service and UNCLEAN dry-cleaning just aren't up to par. Especially for the price! P.S. There are only 2 spots available for Tower Cleaners in the adjacent lot, and one of them is always taken by someone who probably works there. All of this adds up to the following business mission statement: "Make sure the customer's needs are ALWAYS last!" Look elsewhere!!! read more

Tower Cleaners came though when we really needed a dry cleaner! My wife needed a suit cleaned and pressed urgently and we called around to some other local cleaners (this was Thursday afternoon and we needed to pick up our items Saturday afternoon) and all of the conversations boiled down to either: the company was unable to have our items done in time, or they were very rude and we chose not to do business with them. Finally we came upon Tower Cleaners (which, ironically, is just down the street from our house) and they were just awesome! Firstly, they were able to meet our expedited delivery time (in fact, they had all of the items done Saturday morning) and secondly, they were exceptionally friendly and kind. What really pushed them to the five-star rating was, the suit was expertly cleaned and pressed and was done so very inexpensively! This is my first Yelp Review: I went there once. It took 3 days for my suit jacket, slacks, and dress shirts to be cleaned. They were returned in better condition than when I dropped them off. They do not smell like cleaning chemicals which is a problem that I have found at many dry cleaners. The cleaners were able to get out a massive root beer stain ( 14" x 4") on my seer sucker suit jacket. It cost $5 per item. They were unable to completely remove the mustard stain from my black dress shirt. I will continue to give this establishment my business. read more

This place is under new ownership! The decor is much cleaned up, painted and overall is much more cheery. I brought my first load of cleaning to test out. They came back perfect. What to write about a dry cleaners? I don't know, I'm not much of a dry cleaners-using person, so I have pretty low expectations and needs. I have a couple pairs of pants I wear to work that I must have dry cleaned, and that's why I've gone to this place. It's on my way when I walk home from the BART station, and it's advertised as being eco-friendly in some way. I've never tried to get anything cleaned within one hour, but every time I've dropped something off, I've gotten it back in a timely fashion, clean, pressed, no problems. read more

I had a nasty oil stain in some of my favorite clothes as our caterer didn't secure a plate of lamb very well. I'd already tried washing it out with soap (you're not supposed to do this, it turns out). Tower Cleaners was able to get the stains out of jeans and a top. Super impressed! Jack, and the staff there, are amazing. Recently I had a glass of red wine spilled on my light colored sweater and top. Jack tried 3 different methods of getting the red wine out of the sweater--with 90% success--which means that I can wear it. He worked on the the top for more than a week to no avail. He explained that it was much more difficult to clean because it is stretchy fabric. I so appreciated his communication with me, his tenacity and his dedication.
