I honestly don't know what's taken me so long to write a review? I really like staying at Millpond because I get the authentic Nantucket island experience. The décor at Millpond is charming, a contemporary nautical theme, and the actual set up in the apartment is super cozy. There's a master bedroom and the guest bedroom can accommodate up to three, great for a friends getaway or a family trip. I have a full kitchen, fridge and television in my apartment so it really feels like home for the week! It also doesn't hurt that it's one of the most economical options in terms of vacation rentals on the island. Millpond is also conveniently located, just 1 mile from the beach and a five-minute stroll to downtown. Pretty much everything is within walking distance, but if you don't feel like exploring on foot they also have bikes that you can borrow for free on a first come first serve basis! The Saad family owns the complex, and they are extremely warm and gracious! Any time I need anything they are quick to accommodate and happy to do so. They are also true natives so don't hesitate to pick their brains for local insight. They know the best restaurants, which beaches are too crowded, best grocery stores etc. I also adore the fact that each time I stay at Millpond there's a complimentary bottle of champagne and Nantucket chocolate covered cranberries waiting for me in my apartment...so amazing! If you mention this when you are booking they will be sure to offer you the same VIP treatment. So if you're planning a vacation to the Grey Lady in the near future Millpond Inn is definitely the way to go hands down, both value and comfort wise. It's a hidden gem!

I liked that you can store your belongings before check in, and they offer a fully stacked back patio with snacks, coffee, and drinks. The room was very spacious, well stocked and clean. Also, the staff I interacted with were all very friendly too. I would definitely recommend and stay here again!

A very wild place…read more An absolutely beautiful island of the west coast of Nantucket. it's completely wild, pristine and totally clean and free. The only problem is you can't go there. Or at least I can't go there. I've sailed and kayaked around it but it is very, very, very private and uninvited guests are not allowed. I'm definitely one of those uninvited guests. Only a few dozen families live there during the summer and I have heard that there is no water or utilities. You can see huge yachts parked out near the island and I suspect the people that owned the yachts have the houses on the island. I have certainly never seen any property for sale and I can't imagine what the price would be. So, Tuckernuck is a gorgeous, wild and pristine place 30 miles away from Cape Cod. For that it gets 5 stars. Unfortunately it's only for a select few and that select few sure as hell doesn't include me. That gives it 1 star. Ergo 3 stars.

Too many houses have been built. Many of the original settlers of Tuckernuck were Dunhams and Coffins, family of mine from Nantucket, and prior to running a single telephone line there in about 1901 it was extremely isolated. Very few people lived there year round (my great-great-grandfather's brother being one who did, but only after making his fortune in the lumber business on the mainland), and they made their living by bird hunting and fishing. Today it's a summer retreat for the rich, none of my family still owns (or could afford) anything there, and we're as unwelcome as the first reviewer. I can get no closer than Madaket.

The water is warm, calm and no undertow. Owners are accommodating and on site.

I've stayed here many times and chose different rooms that had ocean view or were ocean front. Each room was cute, comfortable, cozy. The inn is right on the beach and the prices are super affordable. I do go off season so that helps with the pricing. Breakfast is not served in the off season but I'm happy to bring food and make my own. There is a room at the basement level with a mini-fridge and basket for each room to store their food. There is also a closet with pots/pans, etc. and a stove for the guests' use. The eating area is my favorite spot with two tables, a coffee pot, tea pot, toaster, mini-fridge, dishes, and a wall of glass looking out onto the ocean. It is a very casual, comfortable place. Perhaps the casualness of it is what caused the only negatives I've encountered (but not negative enough for it not to be THE place for me). Once a mother and daughter were in the common room having a long and heated discussion/ argument. Another time a young boy took over the TV on a rainy day and stayed there for hours even though he could have used the TV in his room. I think people stay here so often that they get very comfortable, get to know the owners and act as though it's their house. Or maybe they are just inconsiderate. The Beach House Inn is my favorite place, I love bringing different people with me each time so they can experience it, and I can't imagine going anywhere else on the Cape.

Unfortunately, most days we were there it was foggy, but beautiful nonetheless. We visited off season. She gave us ideas on things we can do, since we took our car on the ferry over to the island. The beach house was cozy and quiet. Every morning when we woke up, we smelled and were offered fresh baked cookies. I would absolutely come back here again.

I don't like staying over friends or relatives' houses unless I must, let alone some stranger's house in an area I am unfamiliar with. Call me strange, but something about the concept of a B&B has so much in common with a horror film that ends with me getting killed along the line...but not here. My wife and I joined a few of our friends to go to Hyannis and Martha's Vineyard for Memorial Day Weekend and we stayed here. Craig and Ginny (the proprietors) were so friendly and accomodating. Both of them are very personable and full of great local knowledge that they really helped make our stay easier and more pleasant. You will be regaled with Craig's funny stories if you just take the time to speak with him. Ginny is so willing to make the stay as comfortable as possible. You could not ask for better hosts. At no time, did I think they would kill me, and cure my flesh to make sausages like in the movie "Motel Hell". (Sorry, my paranoia is a bit unreasonable). The place is literally a 10-15 min walk from Main street. The beach is 5 min in the opposite direction. You're so close, you can smell the salty air when you step from your room. The rooms are very nice. In fact, you have 2 choices of where to stay: Stay in the main house or the guest house. We stayed in the guest hose, facing the back yard and the large comfortable hammock that gently rocked me to sleep several nights. Our room consisted of a small sleeping area,, a bathroom and a closet. They got cable tv and I do believe there is wi-fi. But why come all the way to Hyannis to surf the web and watch cable? And the room size? Who cares. I was there to see the town, not stay indoors. It was more than adequate and very comfortable. By the way, the breakfast was DELICIOUS. You get two choices: some awesome egg dish or some ceral with yogurt. I went for the eggs and was pleased everytime. Damn, that was good food. Overall, we were extremely pleased. We're definitely going to stay here again. The rates are more than fair for all the accommodations, and the people here really make it worth the stay. My only regret in writing this review is that you'll read this and stay there with your friends and make it harder for me to do so. Do not make me slay you...

I decided at the last minute to book a weekend trip to Cape Cod. As you will know if you're at all…read morefamiliar with an area, that is not an easy or reasonably priced whim to have in the summer. So after looking at a variety of hotel options that I couldn't afford and lower priced ones that I think I would've gotten diseases from, I decided to look at B&Bs. Having only stayed at a B&B once in the past (in Maine), I wasn't quite sure what to expect. But the rates were right in line with what I wanted to pay, there was availability, and I had read other good reviews. I cannot say enough about how much this place exceeded my expectations in so many ways. Firstly, the location is perfect. A 5 minute walk to the beach, 10 minute walk to Main Street, 20 minute walk to the ferries to MV & Nantucket. But don't even concern yourself with the 20 minute walk, because Craig & Ginny, the proprietors, are more than welcoming and offered us a ride to and from our ferry the day we went to Nantucket. They also provide beach chairs if you're going to the beach, restaurant and local area recommendations (of which we listened and were not disappointed), and most importantly HOSPITALITY. You don't get this kind of attention at a hotel. The B&B itself is very quaint... clean, well-kept, equipped with outdoor seating areas to relax as well as a pool, which was an added bonus I didn't expect before arriving. The breakfast area is very cute and the breakfast itself was delicious every morning. I really can't say enough good things about my stay at Salt Winds... just don't even second guess yourself and just book it and see for yourself. You can't come close to this location, level of service, and accommodations for the price on Cape Cod in the summer!

We have been visiting the Vineyard many years but have never found a hotel with ADA handicap rooms…read more if we ever went it was only a day trip because of no place to stay overnight. the Surfside recently renovated and we took a chance. it was more than we expected. it had everything we required for my husband in a power chair. easy to get around and the roll in shower was exactly what we require. the plus was the lovely outdoor garden patio to sit with friends to enjoy a chat and morning coffee. we are glad to know if we visit again that there is a room for us.
