My recent experience at this station was very satisfying. It's just two blocks from Bowden Senior Multipurpose Facility.

I love MARTA! I was living in Atlanta when the system was built. It made a huge difference in the…read moreamount of time it took to navigate the city known for its traffic congestion. The difficulty of driving the combined I-85/75 through the midst of town at high rates of speed is dreaded & avoided by most out of towners. In the midst of 80mph bumper to bumper traffic, it's difficult for those not familiar with the correct exit lane. When my middle aged son, who has lived in NYC for decades, had a business trip to Atlanta he rented a car. On his return trip to the airport I asked if he planned to go through the middle of town or around the perimeter highway. He responded "the middle of town". I chuckled mentally waiting to hear his reaction. When I finally asked, the NYC driver responded "They go fast.....REALLY fast!" With MARTA you avoid this. There was controversy before construction regarding the counties that would participate in MARTA. In the beginning only Atlanta/Fulton County participated. My 2nd apartment complex on Piedmont Road was new when my roommates and I moved in during 1972. The complex was demolished to build the Lindbergh MARTA station. By that time I was living in East Cobb. But old pictures still provide remembrances of that place in its earlier time. The system has created such easy and fast access, avoiding the traffic congestion that had always been a part of Atlanta. Park & Ride lots provide for riders who aren't in walking distance. Decades after I moved to Coastal Virginia I took my then teenage son to see a musical theatre production at the gorgeous Fox Theater. I chose a hotel close to the Fox. We were able to get onto MARTA inside the airport and exit within a block of our hotel. We walked to the Fox and nearby restaurants. We took MARTA to my longtime shopping center of choice, Lenox Square. Treating him to a hot dog at the legendary Varsity Restaurant was easy with MARTA. Navigating around Atlanta was so easy without a vehicle. It's been over a decade since I last visited the place in which I spent my early adulthood. Still dear to my heart, I'd love to see the expansion of the MARTA line and the conveniences it has added.

If you are an Atlanta visitor (for the world cup or anything else) heed my warnings:…read more Marta is one of the worst transit systems I've ever seen. They are chronically late, there are not enough workers to operate the busses or trains, and their customer service is atrocious. if you lose something, do not expect the marta police or Marta customer service to help you. They may acknowledge you, or they may blow off your inquiry. If you call Marta don't be surprised if they never call you back, if you send an email, do not be surprised if the email is ignored. If the system overcharges you, don't be surprised if you never get your money back. I have lived in Atlanta my entire life, and candidly, Marta's human resources just gets worse every year. They may come out with a new train, and new gates, and new systems, but don't expect it to be perfect. Also, if something goes wrong don't expect the supervisors to assist you. Atlanta also has a homeless problem. So, if you visit, don't be surprised if you see various homeless people taking up space, begging for money, and trashing the bus or trains with food or empty containers. Marta has policies against this, but no one cares to enforce it. Finally, if a route is changed due to Atlanta streets being blocked off, inclement weather (snow, hurricanes, etc), or anything else, Do NOT expect Marta to communicate that to you (the paying customer/consumers). A few years ago when it was snowing, a bus dropped people off at a random spot and made people fend for themselves after they had paid (as opposed to having clear communication with its customers hours beforehand). This is a terrible business. If you can get another way around town, do not choose to rely on Marta.

Going to the airport is my main use of this station. This is suburban so cleaner than the in town stations. Occasionally use it to go to town, which is good deal as you get free parking for 24 hours. See pics of platform and parking. I usually load multiple trips on my Marta card, as they give you a discount. In any case very reasonable price. Be aware on the train as this is a public area.

ALL ARE LIES because TALK IS CHEAP…read more Marta is one of the worst transportation systems, period (Europe and other places in the USA have more logistically sound platforms).. Marta just replaced eliminated bases and DID NOT THINK TO TELL PAYING CUSTOMERS. Marta said for months there would be better routes, and that routes would change. There was no communication that they were eliminating buses at the station. This effects how people get to work, it that they care. Me and another customer asked why the bus was LATE, And he said it was because the route changes (so much for more frequent rides/times). Also, the imbecile who is driving the route does not even know how his schedule has changed. And didn't care about the people who were paying to ride his bus (they make you pay via credit card now). The customer service is atrocious, as is the homeless people who ruin the experience. If you are an visitor, DO NOT TRUST MARTA to get you where you need to go (or communicate adequately to assist you).
