The layout is kinda like a thrift store but way less organized. You need time when you come here to sort and sift through the garbage to find the gems. Also, sign up for their email online for advance notice of sales and coupons. It's a fun little liquidation warehouse but it could be improved significantly with better organization and layout.

The Bay has to have the worst bathrooms in Canada. The ventilation in the men's room at Southgate is so so so bad there's either a cancer patient who's decided to crap himself to death or the sewers are backed up. All of this in Edmonton's most prestigious shopping center Southgate Bay. Any illusion we have that we're a big city is quickly shattered when you step into Southgate Bay and realize this is as good as it gets in Edmonton. It's depressing.

I started looking through one rack of shirts, and I was kind of shocked to see plain cotton shirts selling for $70. I kept looking through different racks, and what I started to notice was that the prices really varied. There were a lot of very expensive clothes, but there was also some very affordable clothes. I didn't see that many bigger sizes, but I eventually came across two really cool shirt dresses in my size. I tried them on, and the black on fit perfectly. And the best part was that it was marked down from $69 to $35! I couldn't believe what a good deal that was for such a nice shirt. I noticed on the receipt that this store only offers store credit or exchanges, but I am quite sure I won't be returning this shirt. They also had some awesome purses and bags, but these were well over a hundred dollars. I love this store, and I would give it five stars, if they carried more larger sizes. All Dots are like a thrift store version of Winners so you need to have time to hunt for the Easter Eggs or hidden treasures. Currently they have some pretty wicked novelty clearance items from Urban Outfitters as well as jewellery/accessories from Urban Outfitters. They have clothing brands from all over the world and they get progressively marked down; sign up for their emails for advance notice of sales and e-mail exclusive coupons. This is a great place for discounted books (I seriously found Choose Your Own Adventures in reprint at the other location for $3!!!!). They consistently have Dex clothing liquidations and other random brands including boutique brands. Today they had Eddie Bauer feather filled mittens! Definitely try your clothing on here though they do have a short 2 week exchange policy. They carry swimsuit 2 piece items throughout the year and usually around the $4-$8 price point. They carry the most random assortments but from time to time you'll find vinyl records, holiday greeting cards with the F-bomb in them, and funky magnets/office supplies. I've found sassy note pads here, great books for presents, hats galore (and usually about $5), runners for my kids (prices vary but cheap, cheap), and dresses for my daughter for under $5. Even lesser-known brand name! What is that, I've never even heard of that brand name! Jeans are $10! Shirts are $2! You can't miss this!" So, you can see why I was always a little bit skeptical. Why would I want jeans for $10? Those have to be knock-offs, or just terrible quality. Plus it never sounded like they carried a ton of brands I was super into. But I was having a girly day the other day (I know, that seems to be a theme in a lot of my reviews) and on my way back into the city from South Common I spotted Dots. Why not? I had half an hour to kill. Here's the thing about Dots. I can totally understand why someone would absolutely hate shopping here. It's like shopping at Winners, only more frustrating. The clothes are jam packed onto rack upon rack. And there are just so many racks. The items are helpfully organized by brand (and sometimes size as well), but that doesn't negate how completely overwhelming it is to walk in here. I would say that 95% of the clothes in Dots are things I would never wear. They're either off-trend, aimed at an older demographic, poor quality, or just plain ugly. But if you take your time, this place can be magic. I found the most beautiful dress I think I've ever seen. Regular $130 (and supposedly, would be more at other stores) marked down to $30. Bought it! Now, the zipper was broken, which cost me another $40 at the tailor's (I know, total rip-off, but that's a whole 'nother review), but that's still almost a 50% discount. Not too shabby. I also found two other very cute, age-appropriate modern working girl kind of tops. They were both really inexpensive and really pretty! I don't think I'll have the patience to shop here often, but it was definitely worth it to come by, and when the mood strikes me (and the sales are on), I'll be back.

I am very disappointed with my experienced this afternoon, September 13, 2026 around 1:45pm to 2:30…read morepm at the Costco in the 91st area, especially during one of the busiest times on the weekend. I was waiting in a very long line, as expected, and went to the self-checkout because I only had six items. While I was checking out, I asked a Filipina employee for assistance. I had almonds with six bottles in a box and other items, that hard to lift to scan. So Instead of helping me, she simply told me to scan the items normally. I understand that employees have many customers to assist, but I was disappointed that my request for a little help was dismissed. Employees are there not only to process purchases but also to assist customers when they need it. What may not be obvious is that I am a stroke survivor and currently in the process of recovery. I have been continuously recovering for 1 year and 7 months. Although I may look physically normal and healthy on the outside, I have limitations when it comes to lifting heavy items. That is the reason I asked for assistance. My experience today reminded me that we should not assume someone is physically capable simply because they look healthy. Not every disability or limitation is visible. I hope Costco can remind and encourage its employees to be more understanding and helpful toward customers who ask for assistance. Sometimes, a small act of kindness and understanding can make a very big difference to someone who is going through a difficult recovery.
