I went to buy a new fragrance for myself, switching to something new. I went to a couple of stores that have fragrance counters. I can honestly say you cannot beat The Bay fragrance department. The staff are so knowledgeable and you get the best deals there. I got lots of extras from the Estee Lauder counter. A great reusable cloth bag. And Estée Lauder samplers (actual samples and not just one use tear pouch) Including 30 dollars to my Bay rewards card for next purchase. Olive was excellent and helped me choose a scent that I loved. I feel really happy about my purchase. read more

Walking through the Bay Southgate or any Bay in Edmonton ( don't get me started on the West Edmonton mall Bay) you realize The Bay does NOT care about the Edmonton market. The stores are poorly staffed, poorly lit, and generally crap compared to other big cities in Canada. I'm sure Nordstrom's thought that if Edmontonians think this is quality shopping they're not ready for Nordstrom's. The one example that clearly sums up the Bay is the men's room. The Bay has to have the worst bathrooms in Canada. The ventilation in the men's room at Southgate is so so so bad there's either a cancer patient who's decided to crap himself to death or the sewers are backed up. All of this in Edmonton's most prestigious shopping center Southgate Bay. Any illusion we have that we're a big city is quickly shattered when you step into Southgate Bay and realize this is as good as it gets in Edmonton. It's depressing. read more

Excellent customer service in the men's shoe department. However, please address the ageing bathroom near the men's clothing. I went for a stroll though The Bay today and I was so happy to be bombarded with sale signs from every direction. My favorite part of the sale was the DKNY and Guess clothing that was on sale. And it wasn't a little bit on sale, it was 40% on sale! Any woman who buys those brands knows what a great sale that is. I only buy big name brands when there is a sale so I stocked up big time! I love The Bay because they have so many clothes, shoes, makeup, lingerie, purses, jewelry, and that's just on the main floor! You can find some great deals and get some great stuff at The Bay. read more

The Bay carries pretty much everything you could imagine. They have electronics, clothing, home decor, furniture, jewelry, and much more. I actually only like it for their casual items. If I want sweats or hoodies, just things to chill out in I always check the bay first because the odds are they have it. Not only will they have it, their sweats or so comfy. Another thing I always come to the Bay for is ties. It's not my first choice for ties but they have such a huge selection that you can usually find something you like if other places have failed you. I am pretty sure almost everyone goes to the Bay, but if you don't you should start. read more

The Bay at Southgate Shopping center has to be one of the best dept. stores around. I always assumed it was a dated store for senior citizens, but boy was I wrong. I went in yesterday to browse their makeup sections, but was caught off guard by their excellent selection of modern and high quality clothes. I ended up trying quite a few things on, although was only happy with one sweater. Unfortunately they were about to close so I ran out of time to shop some more. I could have spent another 2 hours there easily. I also managed to get a Fossil leather purse for about 30% cheaper than the actual Fossil store itself. The lady at the counter was friendly and knowledgeable and efficient. I can honestly say I was pleasantly surprised with the Bay. I highly recommend this store for the latest fashions and classier clothing. read more

Along with the mall it anchors, this Bay is evolving into one of their fashion biased outlets. Therefore, you'll find brands and selection that's a little more varied and a little higher end than most Bays. Not all Bays are the same, and in Edmonton, only downtown and Southgate cater to the more fashion conscious clientèle. The advantage for us is that they still have all the corporate-wide sales and clearance events, which means that you can take advantage of the better selection and "higher-end" merchandise on sale more often and at deeper discounts than this kind of merchandise usually sells at. I recommend patience and going on Bay Days. read more

I have to say, this is definitely the best Bay in the city. If you can hit Bay Days, you're in for some awesome deals. I never buy anything not on sale at the Bay, because they always seem to have sales. The only issue with the Bay's sales is the drastic fine print on every sign. It's ridiculous. "Coats 40% off"... except these 20 brands. LOL. "Watches 30% off"... except these brands you would actually want to buy. It's a little silly, and I think the Bay would do better if there sales weren't so limiting. But for Edmonton, this really is a great place to go for certain brands you might be looking for. In addition to the sale exclusions, my other complaint is the dressing rooms. They are gross. Men's and women's. The bay really needs to update these rooms. read more

I don't really shop the Bay that much. I have done a lot of casual browsing over the years but I find the cost to be out of my price range and the styles there not really suiting to my taste. The clothes are absolutely beautiful do not get me wrong and the quality is definitely there but I do not need business casual outfits nor am I interested in $175.00 dresses. The customer service here makes my head hurt. There is a cash desk in every department but the only department that seems adequately staffed is the makeup/fragrance department. I had a gift card today so I went in for a shirt and it took me longer to find somebody to look after me then it did to pick out the shirt (20 minutes at least). With that being said though they do have some great sales. Most of the discount racks I passed were 40-75% and those are always fun to look through when it comes to designer clothing. The staff when you do manage to locate one here are fairly nice and I do appreciate being able to look at higher end items without having someone trailing behind me watching me suspiciously because I don't dress like I work in an office building and carry expensive handbags. read more

I find that most Bay stores in the city are usually deserted, except for this one that's located in Southgate Centre. The only reason I can think that it would be busier is because people who live on the Southside seem to have more money than people who live on the Northside, so they can actually afford to shop here. I even find this Bay nicer. They have classier clothes and more variety in brand names. The coat section is at least four times bigger than the one at Londonderry. The cosmetics area is pretty fancy here as well. They have a lot of pretty displays. Last time I was here, they were featuring Vera Wang perfumes that smelled really nice. Also, they have a separate Clarins counter here, that I haven't seen at other locations so far. The staff is really nice here. I wanted to get a coat scanned for the price, but everyone was really busy. I found an empty cosmetics counter, and the lady happier scanned it for me. read more

For myself this is the best Bay location in Edmonton. They have a great selection of mens wear. They carry all the top brands and some. They have numerous cashiers located through their store. Its located in Southgate, which is close to everything. I find going to other Bay locations they have not even half the selection this Bay has to offer for men styles. Of all dept stores I would rank this one at the very top. The one regret is they use to have an in store malt shop, made the best ones and now its gone, shame on you. Whenever I am looking for something classy to wear or just look damn good I can usually find what I am looking for right here. The prices can seem a little steep but there always seems to be some kind of sale so purchases don't hurt the wallet. read more

The last time I wrote my review on The Bay Londonderry, not a pleasant experience by far. The lack of customer service then being followed by a store detective while I was looking for a sales clerk. Well after that I was still in need of a handbag, until yesterday, when I came to The Bay Southgate. What a difference, their stock was unbelievable for their bags. Higher end ones, cheap ones whatever you want. And yes, when I had a question the sales associate was just around the corner ready to help me with whatever I needed. And No I did not have a store detective follow me at all, I never even noticed anything weird like that. I did find the bag, that I've been searching for, one with some bling and lots of room. And I even got it on sale. I was quite happy when I left, finding a great deal of selection to choose from, a good sale, and friendly customer service. read more
