Very cool place. Came here post brunch on a Sunday afternoon with friends. They had a nice beer selection and everything was discounted! The place still smelled like brunch, but that wasn't bad. The windows were open and the weather was nice so it was a pleasant experience. It was lively but not overly loud so you could still have a conversation with your friends. Bartenders were friendly and fast. It is definitely worth a visit.

I love that Yelp informed me 30 somethings hang out here. Thanks Yelp for letting me know where the big kids are hanging out. Even though I am a sucker for a $2 PBR I am also willing to splurge on the occasional crafty beer. At Marshall Stack there is a great list of crafty beers. I especially like that they had Ninkasi IPA from Washington on tap. A little taste from home in New York is a definite plus. And you know the Northwest is huge on beer so we know our stuff. The bar is named of course after the Amplifier so it has that rocker vibe to it. I especially love that they used a poster of my fave Siouxsie Sioux as the ladies room sign 'cause those are the ladies that should be hanging out. I also enjoyed seeing the "KISS" Russian stacking dolls! I could use those for my personal home decor. And how could I not point out the smokin' hot poster of Blondie. Waittttt.....I see now why it's "30 somethings", it's because kids these days might not recognize some of the amazing details. Well I am glad I am part of the cool kids and I will definitely continue to stop on by and enjoy a beer or a glass of vino.

Sensational. Excellent beer selection, clean taps. Bar food takes a back seat to nothing or nobody. Pretty sure I overheard the bartender saying he was "going to stab someone with a pencil" one night; I was confused but ok.

Since I get out of work early and work close enough to the lower east side this seemed like the perfect bar to kill an hour. It has plenty of beers on tap and in cask ale with a $1 off during happy hour. Steph had been here about a year ago and suggested it and was shockingly on time! She almost beat me for once. For my first beer I went with penis boy beer or Blanche de Bruxelles. For some crazy reason it was calling out to me. It was light and summery and perfect. I didn't need a second beer and went with a crazy double ipa Brooklyn Blast that I needed help chugging down pre Yelp. But it was delightful as well. They also have board games here and I hear pretty decent bar food and tater tots. This may have to be re-examined because I always find myself at local, epsteins or that lolita place. But this has such a unique variety and its different and it has grown on me.

This is a beer bar. They have Delirium on tap. (So tasty. So freaking high in alcohol content.) Sammys are reasonably priced and tasty. Ordered the blue balls for our friend's birthday (quite tasty, actually). Had the duck sandwich. Pretty good. Nice space for a group get together. Was NOT packed. Now keep quiet about it so it doesn't get packed. (Please?)

Hands down my favorite bar in NY! (and lucky me, right around the corner from my apt) A few tips: -It's cash only. -Great and reasonably priced food selection (try the sloppy joes). -WONDERFUL draft beer selection and happy hour daily (even Sat) -If you're looking for BOOZE or Budweiser ,go elsewhere (good beer& wine only). -It's quite crowded on weekend nights (which, unfortunately, is why I gave it 4 stars). -Good atmosphere. The bartenders, cooks, and manager seem to truly enjoy being at the stack and appreciate good music. What more can i say?....

One of the prices that came to mind was Redbreast 12 for $20 for a pour. I settled on Bitburger which was $10. Service was quick. You're certainly paying for the location as the bar situated amongst many clubs and events spaces.

It ended up being a nice spot for a casual catch-up, though with a few mixed impressions. The space itself is cute and very much feels like a neighborhood bar. One of the things we liked most was that they have games available--we ended up playing Scrabble while waiting for our friend to arrive, which made the time go by quickly and added to the relaxed vibe. Happy hour prices are solid, and the fried pickles we shared were decent. I also had a watermelon cocktail that was refreshing and perfectly fine, if not particularly memorable. Service was a bit inconsistent. The bartender wasn't very warm or welcoming to us initially, though that changed once our friend--who is a regular--arrived. Overall, it's a comfortable spot to meet friends and hang out for a few hours, especially on a weekday like Thursday. That said, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to return, but I can see why it works well as a local neighborhood hang.

Not too crowded, the wait for a pool table was about 30 minutes, enough for a quick round of shuffleboarding. The games are relatively cheap, and there's so much variety, ping pong and board games. The live jazz is really what sets this place apart from the other pool halls, starting around 7 pm with what seems like maybe the house band and I think they have guests later in the night. It's the perfect atmosphere, fun lighting, lots of grungy writing on the walls, good indie music from the 2010s before the jazz starts. Plus the spacing of the tables is good so you're not constantly bumping into other players, which is a pet peeve of mine. I'm sure it's busier later in the night but it's perfect for an early stop in the evening. Cheap drinks and good deals as well!

The whole concept is…read morebuilt around keeping your hands busy: pool tables, ping pong, shuffleboard, foosball, chess, checkers, even some old-school arcade cabinets scattered through a sprawling underground space. It's actually a legacy spot in disguise. This basement used to house Fat Cat, a longtime West Village institution that shut down right before the pandemic, and before that the room itself was a bowling alley, tucked into a 1932 Art Deco building a few steps from Stonewall. Drink selection isn't the draw here, don't come expecting a deep cocktail list. Crowd skews heavily undergrad, and the place is loud, so it's not the spot for an intimate one-on-one or a real group conversation. It's built for a different kind of hang: elbow your way to a table, keep your hands busy, let the noise do the rest. There's also live jazz most nights, which adds a nice layer if you catch it at the right time. Neat place, just know what you're walking into.

Sip & Guzzle - Soft serve kumquat

Currently sitting at #1 bar in North…read moreAmerica and #14 on The 50 Best Bars list, you're definitely in for a treat if you're able to secure a reservation. To be clear, Sip and Guzzle are two different establishments with two separate reservation systems, different set of cocktail offerings, and a completely different vibe. Guzzle is the loud, casual upstairs bar while Sip is the intimate, innovative bar downstairs. Sip is definitely the bar you want to get a reservation at, and you'll want to camp out on the reservation website the moment reservations open up for your desired date: reservation disappear in SECONDS. I've been to SG Club in Tokyo before and thoroughly enjoyed my experience there. After my recent visit to Sip, I am happy to report that Sip maintains the high standards of SG Club in terms of drink offerings, as well as service. Between my wife and I, we tried out five cocktails including the (famous) tomato tree, jamon & cheese, strawberry hotpot, satsuma creamsickle, and their yakitini. Words cannot describe how creative, unique and funky each of these drinks tasted. Each cocktail had layers upon layers of flavors, and the complexity was seriously next level. I can't even imagine how many iterations the bartenders must have experimented with to create each one of these cocktails. The menu can feel overwhelming because of how many incredible sounding cocktails there are, but if at any point you're stuck deciding between a few, I would advise you to ask your server, as they'll be more than happy to provide a recommendation or two. Unfortunately, since we had just came from dinner, we were too full to try any of the bar's food offerings. That said, you can order all the food you can order at Guzzle upstairs, plus two additional exclusive offerings -- a grilled lobster and a charcoal grilled pork skewer. If there's one bar you have to check out while visiting New York, you definitely need to check out Sip.

The stand out for me was the cotton candy foie gras - that was fascinating and delicious. Savory fluffiness apparently is yummy. Luckily I sat next to two travelers so we had a nice chat about Asia. Going downstairs, I learned that there was a late night menu but I was too full. I got three drinks though. These drinks were excellent, I loved them more than the ones upstairs. The hotpot strawberry is probably one of my top 5 drinks ever. The one based on the yakitori was awesome too. I also had a nice chat with one of the bartenders so appreciate the attentiveness.

Since we had such a great time, we stopped in on the next night, and it was a massive disappointment. Shitty attitude from the bartender. (Not sure if there were 2 bartenders with the attitude, or just one terrible bartender and a friend hanging out with him doing nothing but distracting him.) Either way, the bar was not crowded yet and he straight up ignored us. For a while. We left. Drinks are made with the cheapest of booze and served in plastic cups. Based on the quality, the prices are high, even for the neighborhood. Despite the drinks and despite the crappy service on the second visit, we will likely come back the next time we're in town in hopes of finding a bartender who understands the job.
