Despite reading the reviews prior, I stopped by to get my FSC anyway since the it was convenient for me. The front desk woman was very attentive & communicated with me. I didn't get her name but she had a short hair style. I usually believe the reviews but whoever this person was, she was awesome! Watched the video/take the test and made my card in about 30-40mins. Thanks! read more

The Tall White Guy named Daniel Pearson will do all he can to flirt with woman to get there numbers so he can score a piece of " you know what" of course he will wait until you have paid and taken the classes only he seems to teach hes also sleeping with the secretary named Alejandra at least it seemed that way they were being very flirtatious and I thought I seen Daniel kiss her on her cheek I was shocked as he had just been flirting with woman who I think we're in there shooting range asking for one of those young womans numbers Alejandra she's a mess too she seemed so overworked and will give I'm assuming woman she feels threatened by the most difficult time and attitude I tried speaking with another secretary a small very quiet Older woman and Alejandra came up and Preety much pushed her out of the way to see if she could help instead I said No it's ok she already answered my questions but Alejandra seemed to be so upset by that she seemed to storm off t Then a Guy I think his name was Tim walked in said Hello and welcome to Marshall he walked into a small office he came back out to check if I had been helped already he was very kind then Alejandra came back out front from the back where I believe she was probably with Daniel and began being so rude to Tim and the other quiet Older secretary the man Tim asked her a question im not to sure what and She almost shouted No Not Yet Tim and roll her eyes Tim just walked back to the small office He is very professional because I'm not sure as being another employee for a company I would be ok with being treated that way I mean what kind of a place is this where it seems like the secretary Alejandra can be rude to the only 2 people ( Tim and the older quiet woman) who I believe were the only nice and professional ones there in fact I believe The Tim Guy should be teaching classes I feel like he would at least be teaching instead of trying to flirt, I'm not sure if he is capable of doing so or not or licensed to but he should be I asked Alejandra who else teaches classes and the response I got was Captain Daniel teaches all of our classes which was ashame because I would have paid or booked more if it was someone else other than Daniel who I couldn't believe is the captain of this company he is inappropriate with women I felt incredibly uncomfortable and Alejandra is very rude the way she spoke to those 2 employees is just ridiculous read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS ESTABLISHMENT! I came with my wife to get fingerprints taken for an ABC license background check. The girl, Alejandra informed us that it would take 10 minutes and asked us to fill-out some paperwork with personal information. After 30 minutes I asked her again how long it would be and she informed me that it would take at least another 10 minutes for her to get to us and 20 minutes for the process. Why didn't she tell us this from the beginning? I informed her that we had to leave to pick-up our children from school and we would come back another time. I asked Alejandra for the paperwork with our personal information (social security & driver's license) back and she said "No". That's weird I thought. I told her that I was not comfortable with them having my personal information and that I would like it back. She again said "No, it's company policy for us to keep your paperwork and the owner has to review it before shredding any documents". I was not having it and asked her to shred the document in the shredder beside her desk and she immediately told us to get out. What?!?! I informed Alejandra that I would call my buddy who worked for the LAPD to see if what they are doing is legal. She immediately took the documents to a back-office with her and acted like she was calling her boss. After 5 minutes she returned, shredded the documents, and told us to get out. How do I know she didn't make a copy of my documents or a photograph on her phone of my information while she was back there? Why was it so hard to shred the documents with my personal information if I did not conduct any business with them? Why take the paperwork to the back room? I will be reporting this place to the BBB and wanted to make sure that Yelp viewers are aware of some shady business practices going on at this location before conducting any kind of business with them or giving them any personal information. I never write reviews but I wanted this documented publicly just in case I have any unusual credit activity that may pop-up on my credit history after this incident. read more

The business was open when I arrived. During the time I was waiting for the instructor I had a good conversation with employees. After the instructor arrived I paid for the CPR class. The class was straight to the point. I will return for other classes. read more

My experience with Marshall was very short lived. I went in and intended on doing Guard Card training and Firearms Permit. After I completed the Guard card course, just the course, I had a contract with my private business come up, and I decided to delay the entire process. I had not even done the fingerprints or anything, just taken the class. I called to inform them that I would not be taking the firearms permit classes, and would wait until this contract was up to submit my application for guard card. I simply asked for my course completion, and a refund of overpayment (since I did not do the LiveScan or have them send in my application). I was told, very rudely, that I would not be receiving a refund, but in fact that I still owed $50 for the full cost. Mind you, the full cost includes the school course, plus LiveScan and State License fee. I tried to explain to the lady that I only took the class, and therefore should only be charged for the class. She again told me I was wrong. I was looking at the website and referencing it as we spoke. How can you be so confused with what is right in front of both our faces in black and white? She argued with me for 22 minutes. After she made it clear I was not receiving a refund for the other services I did not use, I told her I would just dispute the charge with my credit card company. She told me I would not receive my course completion then. Thats fine. At that point, I would not have paid for it. Just wasted my day in their classroom (I was the only person in the entire building, and the instructor was over 10 minutes late). Red Flag right there! Anyways...she tried to direct me to another website to look at THEIR fees...I told her I have no interest in any other website, fees, etc. I was only concerned with the fact that they were not refunding me for the services not used, and that I was only going to pay for the school fee that is posted clear as day, black and white. She hung up on me. Moral of the story: The front desk lady is very unprofessional (There is alot more to the story outside of this issue that are concerns, but I will stick with the legal facts). To risk the reputation of your business over $80, no matter who is right or wrong, shows their complete disconnection with running a professional establishment. Please save you money and do not be scammed by these people. Based on other reviews, this should come as no surprise. read more

Edmon Muradyan is the least professional person I have ever encountered in the course of being employed at ANY COMPANY. Last Wednesday, myself and another guy who was at Marshall to interview were told we had the jobs by his partner Daniel, and that I was to come in the following day to finalize the employment paperwork, take the pepper spray course that I still needed to begin work, and to have my employee ID photo taken. I was also told that I would be working in the Valley (fairly close to where I live). The other guy who was hired was supposed to start working the next day, as all of his training was complete. I arrived on Thursday and I see the other guy who interviewed with me there, dressed and ready to work. Halfway through completing the paperwork, Daniel came out of the training room and told me to come with him outside. The other guy I interviewed with is nowhere to be seen at this point. We got in Daniel's car and he explained that I am going to start working RIGHT NOW because this other guy "flaked" and won't answer his calls. Daniel told me I'd be standing post at a dispensary in downtown LA. By the time we arrived at the dispensary, we are in South Central, which is not downtown by any stretch of the imagination. I was fine with this, as working in bad neighborhoods comes with the territory of this business, but why wouldn't they be honest with me about where my post was? I'm getting there. I asked Daniel how much I'd be making per hour before he left me at the post, he told me that he had to speak with Edmon because he is the one that negotiated this dispensary's contract. I said, "ok please let me know ASAP." I'd say it is a reasonable request for any new employee to ask what the rate of pay is before starting a new position, especially one in which your life is on the line (these places get robbed all the time). I continued to ask Daniel what my pay-rate was throughout the first 5 days of my employment, only to be told every time that Edmon still had to get back to him about that. I had been out of work for some time and was thankful to have a job again, so I said, "ok let me know ASAP." Daniel finally got back to me during my lunch break on Monday (my 5th day of work) and told me that pay is set at $11.50/hour. Now I understand why the other guy who was supposed to stand this post disappeared before his shift. I'm willing to bet Daniel or Edmon told him exactly where it was and what he would be paid and he just said "fuck that" and left. I finished my shift to the best of my abilities and decided that it would be better to have a face-to-face discussion at their office to speak with them about this on my first day off (which was today, 09/20/2016). I sat down with Edmon and presented my case- I explained that I thought it was unprofessional of them to wait five business days before telling me what I would be paid for my services, and that they had also misled me in regards to where I would be working. Edmon was in no way apologetic about the delay in communication, saying stuff like "things happen so fast, I didn't have time to tell you" and even started attacking my character saying, "if you don't like working security in dangerous neighborhoods then go work at McDonald's." I responded by saying that it wasn't the neighborhood that bothered me, but rather his inability to act as a professional and communicate simple things like where I would be working and what I would be paid. He continued to interrupt me as I explained why I was upset with him, so I just turned in my hours sheet and the gun they had lent me and told him I would no longer be working for Marshall Security. He responded by saying, "Good, I don't want to work with people that are unprofessional like you." That's a laugh. I even went to shake his hand, as I am a consummate professional, and he refused to shake my hand. In retrospect, I believe they INTENTIONALLY withheld this information from me because they realized NO GUARD with half a brain would work in one of LA's most high risk neighborhoods for barely more than minimum wage. There are unarmed guards working in much safer areas for more than $11.50/hour. I am used to working in bad neighborhoods from prior work experiences, and the people in that neighborhood were actually starting to respect me because I am always cordial/friendly when standing post. I seriously doubt the next guy will feel as comfortable as I did there. I am genuinely concerned for anyone employed by this company. read more

Even though the training is good. However, since I never received my card (it supposed to be 6 weeks) I call back and forth to BSIS in Sacramento and Marshall Academy, they claimed they send the money through BSIS, then I called BSIS, no money received via the school. Right now, I am working as a sushi maker inside the Whole Foods, and not as security guard. You cannot bring a baton on a sushi. read more

This is an incredible program. Marshall Security Training Academy taught me the importance of becoming an excellent security officer. Jose is an amazing instructor. He is very motivated, profound, and funny teacher. He wants his students to succeed and is willing to do mock interviews with you. Waste of time and money, to keep it short. We're told there was fee over the phone, then told a higher price when we came in. Very unprofessional. I'd recommend any other place but here. Only good reviews are from "free" classes that they offer. read more

My boyfriend used to work here and this company's policies are absolutely ridiculous. My bf worked Monday-Friday and never got paid on time. We lost our place because Edmund failed to pay his employee because of some atrocious rule of paydays being on certain days and certain times. Paydays are only during the week, you have to come from 3-6pm and if you get there late he says, "Sorry i ran out of money." So if you don't want to get paid and jump through 100 obstacles just to get paid get hired there. Oh and when you quit because he refuses to pay you what he owes, he keeps your last pay check because he thinks he has some hot shot lawyer. What kind of security company has all these rules just to get paid? Now he has a new security job and he can go pick up his check whenever he wants and has not had one issue getting paid. read more

Unlike these other comments below, I however had a very pleasant experience. All the instructors were very polite and knowledgeable throughout my full course experience.
