I highly disagree with the low rating and negative review about Mr. Evans and his training academy. I personally had a great time in his classroom and came away with a lot of respect for he and his wife. His style of teaching and direct approach are both personable and professional. I mean if you like being taught by some foreign donkey or some uptight a-hole jarhead with a chip on their shoulders, then by all means go to those no cost cattle call security schools. Mr Evans has an unorthodox method of teaching in that he keeps the learning interesting and fun, not one of those boring, fall asleep, cookie cutter type classes. The training was/is interesting, informative and thorough. Mr. Evans made sure you were comfortable with what you learned and encouraged dialogue. Once you satisfactorily complete the classroom portion, the onsite firing range made the weapons portion of the training seamlessly flow from the classroom into weapons training. Mr Evans made sure you were comfortable and proficient using the weapon, as he critiqued and corrected your weapons handling to insure maximum performance. I came last week on a Saturday at 11am the time their suppose to be open for business, and nobody ever showed up so I said to myself maybe something happened so I decided to try again another day. The second time I tried was a Wednesday at 11am and once again nobody was there. I've also been calling all through the week and no answer so I'm done with this company I would never refer anybody here. read more

This place is the best to get your guard card. Its the most affordable anywhere around, the training session was quick, and the processing was extremely efficient because of his wife who handles all the paperwork. I personally loved Mr. Evans because he is one of those black old school, no room for snowflakes, no nonsense kinda guys with a huge sense of humor, but very knowledgeable in the security guarding industry. While I was laughing much of the time, I took what he was saying in terms of advice very seriously. He has a big personality. So you gotta have thick skin to enjoy your time here. If you dont have thick skin, its still alright. Mr Evans is just funny in his own way, so just take it with a light heart because in the end his training session will pay off big time. I dont know, but for some reason after I took the class my guard card showed up on the BSIS website in four days, and my guard card came in the mail in the same week. That stuff is supposed to take around weeks. I dont know what Evan's wife did, but it was expedited. This is why I highly recommend this place with 5 stars. If I could give 6 stars, I definitely would because the timing of my guard card being approved after doing my training at Evans' was exceptionally quick.
