Have had asthma my whole life. Have had same prescription for many years but he wouldn't refill it even though they said they would since he booked out for 3weeks. Went to pharmacy they never called it in. I called his office and while he was there he told staff to send me to E.R. for prescription. Playing with someones life is not ok.... My husband was the one to go in here for an ingrown toenail. He saw doctor Marshall who did a jack up job at fixing it when we could've just gotten a referral to a podiatrist. When we called to get a referral, the receptionist was snippy and extremely rude and it was really unprofessional. Dr Marshall is great for medicals. It's about an hour drive for me but worth the trip once a year.

Larry is great but his staff have room for improvement. If you like getting the run around and told they will call you back and never do them this is the office for you. And when you call them back the person you talked to is always on their day off or had to leave early. Brenda and Brandon will reassure you they will call back, but never do and they have no intention of doing so. There is an easy tell to find out if their lying, their talking. read more

Dr Marshall and his PA are great, however, EVERYONE ELSE IN HIS STAFF IS HORRIBLE. First of all, the receptionist does not pay attention to detail and did not set up my files correctly prior to my first visit. When I arrived for my appointment she could not find my information in the system because SHE did not take down my information correctly. She proceeded to blame me because she "could not understand what I was saying." I waited in the reception area for over an hour for my appointment and not once did she update me on the status of my appointment. There is a sign in the reception area that says "if you have not been helped within 20 minutes, please let us know" so I did and the receptionist BRENDA did absolutely nothing. At my appointment I requested a referral for an optometrist because through tricare your PCP generally makes the referral. almost TWO months later and I am finally getting my referral. This is only because I consistently called to remind the staff. I COULD HAVE GONE BLIND!!! This office will not give you follow up calls. They do not care about their customer service. The staff does not care about your medical problems even though this is a doctor's office. DO NOT DO NOT DO NOT GO HERE! read more

I have never been more shocked by a doctor. The total lack of care & professionalism was truly shocking. Dr. Larry Marshall came in 40 minutes late (we were the 2nd appt. of the day), he called my father by the wrong name (he's been seeing him for 10+ years), he gave him less than 2 min. Of his time (no exaggeration) He then actually stood up & walked to the door grabbing the handle as my father was mid-sentence discussing his primary concerns. As a nurse myself I can not fathom the total disregard of a patient. I attended the appointment due to My 80yo father wondering if he was being rushed or if it was just him. The entire appointment was to get a referral for his back, to discuss medications and to update shots. None was addressed by him directly but rather via the nurse. I suggest anyone reading this to find a new doctor. Immediately. Also while our nurse was great there are many office issues, poor follow up and lack of total professionalism in the general office as well. read more

The 1 Star is for the Staff, not the Doctors. I have been going to this office for at least 10 years! I went to Mendoza up until he retired, the only reason I stayed at that office was because of him. The office staff was rude then and clearly nothing has changed. When he retired I decided to give it another try. It seemed as if they were trying to make changes. Another turn over, staff seemed nicer, hours were better. Than I started seeing the Physician Assistant, Jacob, which I also really like. Now it seems as if the staff is back to not caring and being extremely rude and lazy. I Called to make an appointment for my depo, told the person who answered the phone what the card said that the nurse gave me last visit for my dates. Didn't bother to look it up apparently. I go in for my appointment and the first thing the nurse says to me is you know you missed your window. Showed her the card and she could not say anything. So between the Nurse and the front office, they messed up and pretty much pressed the blame on me. I was there for 2 HOURS! I have never been in that office longer then 30 minutes. The nurse was rude, and indicated i was a liar. Reminder to the staff, you can hear what is said in the hall ways maybe you should be careful what you say about your patients that are giving you business. Guess its time to move on and find a new Office even though I really like the Doctors/ Physician Assistant. read more

I was referred to DR Marshall by a fellow pilot friend of mine he got his FAA physical done there. he told DR Marshall of my situation. the FAA has my medical on hold. DR Marshall said he has helped numerous pilots with my same situation . Made appointment spoke with DR Marshall and Barbra i thought it went well assured me it would be no problem. That he could get it cleared up. Paid my $50 consultation and left all my medical records with them. About a month later i hear from the FAA i am worse off now than i was. so i was curious as to what Dr Marshall wrote to the FAA. So i asked for a copy of the letter Barbra said they could not give me copy and i paid $ 200 on time so i asked i am not entitled to know what he wrote. she said he could read it to me fair enough. i will wait fro his call. Four weeks later many many phone calls. And Barbra is always super nice i even had my wife call who is a retired nurse and is very professional still no results. So Dr Marshal is never going to call me so I made an appointment to see him paid my $ 50 again so he could read me the letter. I believe Barbra wrote the letter. And tells me he could do nothing else for me.Dr Marshall strikes me as a guy with a hand full of give me and a mouthful of much obliged. Would never deal with him again even if he did it for free .Good Luck read more

I don't like to write reviews of this sort but no one should trust Dr. Marshall and his staff, especially Karen Douglas. I advise anyone, especially FAA medical applicants, to NEVER engage this practice. I went to Dr. Marshall's practice to seek an FAA medical certificate that required a special issuance. Dr. Marshall and his staff did not process my application for months and lied to me about it. His assistant Karen Douglas was rude, deceptive, incompetent and wholly unresponsive. After the application was finally sent, the FAA determined Dr. Marshall's submission was inadequate and I was required to pay for and provide additional materials from my treating physicians because Dr. Marshall failed to do his part. After the medical certificate was finally issued 6-months later, Dr. Marshall charged above-market rates to keep the certificate renewed in what felt an awful lot like extortion. The facility is antiquated, Dr. Marshall is not on top of his game, and his staff is rude and inefficient. In addition to the many similar reviews in this site, there is interesting reading on the State of CA licensing site as well, and a clue to his competence lies in what is disclosed there about his medical education. I hope this is helpful to other FAA applicants. read more

I had a physical back in Feb (which my company pays in full for) and asked for them to sign the form for the physical after the appt & they told me I have to pay $15 for the doctor to sign in it. I don't know about the other reviews but this place has been pretty amazing. The staff is really courteous and friendly, they are very understanding and helpful. I came in to get my FAA medical exam and it went great. I know a lot of Pilots come here and get it. I recommend always have an appointment. My Maps App doesn't really bring you to the place, it takes you a couple blocks away. Marshall is my primary and I drive from Coronado to come here. read more

Wife is a patient of Dr Marshall for 33 years and me for 19. We have received nothing short of the highest quality, effcient and appropriate care. Dr Marshall is truely special and one of very few caring family doctors remaining in San Diego. His diagnoses and prescribed care is always spot on. The staff is exceptional and always responsive to our neads. Linda is the friendliest, kindest person I know. She has navigated the referral process for use too many times to remember and we have always had these in place before needed. Even with very short notice. I have a love hate with this place...Dr. Marshall is ok but kind of hates his job, I have been in there several times and he is pleasant but at the same time seems rushed and not into anything you have to say are ask depending on the day you go in..he runs hot and cold lately cold...the staff is the same way...and I am thinking it depends on the insurance you have as to how they treat you, which pays most. I am thinking about finding another doctor and honestly I doubt they care I go. its disappointing for me as I have some health issues, and the last couple of times I have felt like the doctor just wanted to get me out of there and on to the next patient. The doctors are great. I adore The doctors at this facility. Jacob is fantastic! Unfortunately; the staff is terrible. When you call it feels like you have to do all their thinking for them. In the past they have usually been pretty good about offering a callback in case of a cancellation. Do not go to this doctor. I went there for a skin rash and was told it was "hot tub folliculitis." I haven't been in a hot tub for over two years and I scrub my entire body like I'm going into surgery when I bathe. I wash everything I own, including my underwear, clothes, sheets and towels- EVERYTHING in bleach. The doc I saw said he couldn't understand where I got it but he was sure that's what it was. As I left, feeling skeptical, I asked if there was something else they could call in if this medication didn't work. Someone at the front desk said yes please call if it doesn't work so the doctor can call in something else. No surprise that the medicine DIDN'T work so I called to have them send another prescription to the pharmacy. They didn't call me back after 3 phone calls and actually hung up on me once. Finally someone put me on hold and came back and said they will not call me in another prescription and to go to a dermatologist. So, thanks for the waste of almost $200. read more

Although he is extremely nice his staff on the other hand.. it's not all of them but a handful of front staff is very rude and have almost no knowledge with patient communication. So unprofessional. In three visits, I have consistently received exceptional patient care - from the receptionist, to the nurses, to the attending physician. Everyone I have encountered is friendly, personable, and professional. My recommendation to family and friends is to ask for Jacob when you make your appointment. Wow I am almost speechless right now, almost! Dr Marshall is great, but that only goes so far, the staff is horrible. They didn't call me about my tests run, I had to call them to get results, which I believe Jessica gave to me incorrectly, so I asked to have them faxed to me. They forgot one test, I call and left a message to talk to someone about them because no one was available and even though their message says they will call you back within 24 hours, five days later I was still waiting. When I called back they said I cant talk to the Dr., if I would like him to review my results I need to make another appointment, said Jessica (again). All this after I had to wait 90 minutes for an appointment while I listened to the staff talk about their inappropriate personal life and how drunk they were. So glad I switched my whole family to this Dr. I was just told that it is not their fault if the Dr. doesn't call me back. Sharp should be ashamed of this office representing them. read more
