Dr. Saifi is a well informed doctor with great bedside manner. I appreciate how he explained my health with visuals, so I didn't feel as stressed or overwhelmed with my health issues. He also provided plenty of insight about my thyroid issues I hadn't previously thought about. Admittedly Dr. Saifi is intelligent, However that does not compensate for his poor bedside manner, personally I left his former practice in La Mesa because his "15 min appointments" after 40 minutes waiting in lobby, consisted of about 3 minutes wherein he asked about 7 questions letting be begin to answer 2-3 before cutting me off and vanishing. His focus appears to be on compensation $$$$$$. It took neatly a month to get any decent response from his new practice, which , in my opinion, adds to the impression that he is a business person with impressive knowledge and experience but a lack of responsibility, respect and concern for his patients. Additionally as I suffer from mental illness I asked for a referral to a specialist who could help me the referral wasn't honored by the providers office. Finally he made me pay cash for the documents he filled out stating a diagnosis of lifetime affliction of my medical condition. Even though it was covered from insurance which he accepted and was already billing. If I'm to understand , he opened this practice in Santee, Ca ~ 2 years ago. So does that mean as a provider relocates he hasn't any responsibility/ obligation or duty to former patients after practice is closed/ opened elsewhere? Moreover, how many times has Mirwais Saifi, M.D. closed and reopened? Has anyone else had similar issues please contact me directly if so, we may be able to coordinate interest and call for accountability! I have reached out to multiple associations for assistance including NAMI, board of Surgeons & Physicians, legal aid society of San Diego, FTC & The consumer protection agency. The information I shared is truthful and accurate to the best of my recollection and the opinions are just that a warning* of a bad experience made worse, an how i experienced Dr. Saifi's "care". I felt my time was wasted as one referral was rejected the other was just awful at the time his suite was adjacent to Stern Dermatology, whom I filed a grievance against due to an over zealous PA, who misdiagnosed a sebaceous cyst for a genital wart which was a huge red flag since it had been previously diagnosed by multiple providers and the fact I have never tested positive for any STD. Yo make matters worse after I complained about waiting undressed for 30 minutes the PA whom was over billing and over prescribing multiple therapies which were unnecessary, Time consuming he tried to schedule 3-5 visits a week and I had to strongly protest after he tagged me with some kind of laser or temperature related device. I was so upset that he would apply a technique or treatment without discussing it before, getting my consent or even properly explaining what it was he did and why. The straw that broke the canals back was the medical assistant who verbally scolded me for doing easing and leaving the room after 30 minutes f waiting. The MA insisted I undress and wait for provider. I refused and tried to follow MA out but he forcefully closed the door with me inside and slammed the door on me closing the door behind him and pulling in the door so I was unable to open for a few seconds. I do not recommend Dr Saifi as a primary care provider as I found him to be inconsistent, often unavailable, and vaguely disinterested at least that's how I felt. read more

I went to see him after I was given a referral. While sitting in his office I saw that he had weightloss advertising and I was so excited thinking I was finally going to get help. As soon as he walked in the exam room I was instantly uncomfortable. He demanded to know why his name wasn't on my insurance card. I tried to tell him I got it figured out with his office staff. He began yelling at me at the top of his lungs. He said something about not feeling good and having to deal with people like me. I said that I was willing to reschedule and tried walking out of the exam room door. He stood in front of the door, which blocked me from leaving. He said you're here let's just finish the appointment. At this point I was so scared and shaking walked past him to leave. He continued to scream at me down the hallway and into the open office area. Never have I ever been so humiliated by someone supposed to be a doctor. Never go to him he's horrible. If anyone ends up suing him, let me know I will go to court over this. This place is the definition of unorganized. Trying to get anything done with them is a struggle. I need some pre operation lab work done. It took me countless calls to schedule this and then he sends me to a lab that doesn't accept my insurance? I'm having a total replacement and it is not getting replaced because it feels good. I had an unfortunate unpleasant experience when Mirwais Saifi, MD took over and bought out my GP's practice. My GP only gave us a weeks notice before Dr. Saifi took over. This was not enough time to decide on another doctor and find out if I wanted to stay with the doctor who bought out my GP. So, since I was on several medications that require that a person just can't go off quickly, I was out of refills and required to see the doctor before I could get my prescriptions refilled. When I did go in for my first office visit, it was very unpleasant. Dr. Saifi does not seem to have a good bedside manner. I felt like I was being scolded and not just talked to for the fact that he was obviously annoyed that the choices of my other GP to put me on certain medications were not alright with him. I reluctantly said I would wean off the medications that he didn't want me to take and left. After I was finished with the first office visit, I needed refills on other medications. I tried getting ahold of Dr. Saifi or any office staff who could help me, with no luck. So I made a second appointment to go in, in person and ask about my prescriptions. In the mean time, I thought I couldn't deal with not being able to get through to a doctor who seemed so hard to get ahold of, and running out of important medication was not an option. So I called Medicare to find a different doctor who was local for me. They gave me a referral to a doctor who was just a few blocks from where I live. I thanked them and made an appointment to interview and screen the doctor to see if I might want to change to him. Well days had gone by, and a week later I kept the appointment with Dr. Saifi. He noticed on my record which is available to all Sharp doctors, that Medicare had changed my primary provider to this doctor that they referred me to. At my second visit with Dr. Saifi, I could here him loud and clear as he was yelling about seeing this other doctor on my records. When he walked into the door of the office to see me, I had not been to the new doctor yet and wasn't even sure I was going to keep the appointment which was the next day. I just wanted to see if it was a better fit for me then to stay with Dr. Saifi who took over my GP's practice. I said to him, that I over heard that he found out that I was planning to see this doctor Medicare referred me to as a possible fit for me and I was going to see him to find out if he was more alright with me staying on my current medications. Dr. Saifi went off and yelled at me how insulting it was that I came in to see him with an appointment already with another doctor. I explained or tried to that it was an interview to find out if it would be easier to have my medications managed by an office that was easier to get ahold of. I told him it was not a decision I had made yet. He was acting hurt and angry and said here is a prescription for 2 weeks of your medication and don't come back. He then walked out of the room with his back to me and didn't even say goodbye. He first before he walked out said some comments about the doctor I chose to meet with that were negative, like why do you want to see him, he is in his 80's and old and probably ready to retire. He was cutting him down and making other comments about how I could have turned my back on him by calling to get an appointment with him. Well, I should have a right to see who ever I feel comfortable with and if it was not Dr. Saifi, then it just wasn't a good fit in my gut feeling. The same thing only worse happened to my daughter who was also a patient of my old GP, and now she had to see Dr. Saifi for the same reason, to find out if he would be a good fit. Only he really yelled at her and called her crazy to her face. When I heard about this, I really had doubts I could continue in the practice where Dr. Saifi took over. I suffered much heartache and feelings of worthlessness over how a doctor who my old GP whom I liked so much could be so mean to me and my daughter. I struggled over and was dismayed over how I was talked to. I do not recommend Dr. Saifi and I wish more people would write their reviews also if they had an experience similar to mine. More people will be less likely to be exposed to the way he treats patients like me and my daughter. Some of the positive reviews are questionable to me and that Yelp is and has taken other reviews that were negative off their page that were about Dr. Saifi. It needs to be fair with both sides of the story being represented. That's only fair and reasonable. Take care and find a doctor who will take care of you for who you are. I like my new doctor and will stay with him. It did put me through a lot of mental anguish however to go through the words ringing in my ears that I heard from Dr. Saifi. read more

I'm only going to discuss my most recent visit with the unethical, unprofessional, misogynistic Dr. Mirwais Saifi at Center For Family Medicine in La Mesa, CA which was on the 21st of March, 2019. He was my family's Primary Care Physician. (PCP) On the 16th of March, a Saturday, I went to urgent care & was then sent to emergency with an extraordinary abdominal pain issue. I was promptly admitted to the hospital for a total of 3 days. My appointment with Dr. Saifi was for a follow up visit regarding that hospital admission, to discuss treatment plans & to obtain necessary referrals to specialists because, insurance. As he entered the exam room, Dr. Saifi began loudly, aggressively & repeatedly admonishing me for failing to attend a previously scheduled appointment on Monday the 18th. (I was in the hospital.) I tried to tell Dr. That I was in the hospital & that my husband had called in to tell the office that I could not attend the appointment. (My husband did call in & did speak to a human being.) Dr. Saifi continued to admonish me, no, bully me stating such gems as "you cost me money", "I'm trying to run a business here", "you couldn't lift the phone?", "you're rude", "you're inconsiderate" & "I could have scheduled that time for a "deserving" patient". Oh, yes he did! I was in tears by this time, I picked up my purse & sweater & prepared to leave without being seen. I said "Fu*k you & the horse you rode in on". I'm not going to sit here & allow you to fing disrespect & abuse me. He yelled "quit cursing at me!" I told him to stop yelling at me. I'm not here for you to verbally abuse me. I'm still crying.) He said "don't you want those referrals?" So I sat down. I need those referrals & he knows it. He then grilled me. "How long were you in the hospital? Which doctors did you see? What medications did you receive iv? How much iv antibiotic did you receive? What kind? (I didn't know so that got this gem, "Can't you read?") How many times did you meet with Dr. X? What did Dr. W say?" He continued to insult me & hit me with a nonsensical barrage of questions. He then demanded I stop taking the antibiotics, pain medications & anti nausea medications that the specialists in the hospital had prescribed because the ct scan CLEARLY showed a massive infection, I was bleeding internally, I was passing large blood clots, I was vomiting continuously & my pain was at a steady 8-9. He then asked me where on my body my pain was. I showed him my lower left abdomen. He proceed to press, quite hard in that region. I squealed out in pain. He all but snickered. He then read the hospital report. He said "oh oh oh, it looks like they think you've got "-----" & they're giving you "-----"? I wouldn't have you take antibiotics for 10 days. You shouldn't take them at all but it's up to you. Don't take the pain meds. How much do you have left? How much did they give you? How many have you taken?" All in very rapid succession. I'm still crying at this point. I ask for a yeast infection med prescription. He says "why? What makes you think you need that?" I explained why, he then heavily sighed. Seriously? He says he'll send for the referral & the prescription. As I'm leaving, I stop at the nurse's station telling them thank you for all you've done for my family & I but we won't be returning to this office again. I called my husband to verify that he did indeed call to cancel the appointment for me on Monday as I was in the hospital as he had previously stated. I had him on speaker phone for doctor to hear. My husband confirmed the previously stated comment. (Even if this had not been done, Doctor had no right whatsoever to attack, admonish, scold, yell at, verbally abuse or shame me.) Doctor then yells from his office for me to stop talking about him behind his back. I told him I'm not, you're door is open, I fully expect you to hear my every word. He then YELLS!!! Yells!!! "Get out of my office you stupid woman!" I stepped into his private office doorway & mentioned he might want to keep HIPPA in mind stop yelling & I said Have a nice day & God bless you. He is a bully. I made it to my truck before falling apart. 1. I just got out of the hospital 2 days prior to this appointment 2. I'm very, very ill 3. I'm in tremendous pain 4. I'm incredibly anxious because of potential diagnoses 5. I'm very nauseated 6. I did curse, only after he purposely & purposefully verbally attacked me 7. He gave a far too vigorous exam for a condition such as mine, bleeding could have easily been restarted with how hard & how long he pressed into my abdomen, I can't help but wonder if he wasn't trying for this to occur 8. He heaped physical, emotional, spiritual, verbal & mental abuse upon me in the short 15 minutes I was in his office This was the single worst appointment I have ever had with a "doctor". I would never, ever recommend this "doctor" to any other person ever for any reason whatsoever. read more

He was so busy telling me I don't need my medications, he overlooked the fact I told him I have cirrhosis of the liver, among other major health problems. I was hospitalized several times last year.
