The office of Doctor Majid Shabaz is large and friendly, especially Grace. In addition, there is a very fine Physician's Assistant by the name of Chelsea. Chelsea is very well versed in medicine, and I have total confidence in her when we have an appointment. She also offers appointments via telephone or online, which can be very convenient indeed. Doctore Shabaz is very good on referring you to tests that will be important to your health. There are also labs and X-ray offices right next door, which is great! Dr. SHAHBAZ IS ONE OF THE BEST AND MOST CARING DOCTORS IN SAN DIEGO. My entire family has been his patient for the last 10 years. I wish my insurance would cover him as my PCP as well. I have 2 disabled sisters and a father with parkinson's and Dr.Shahbaz really goes above and beyond in caring for their health and has truly made all the difference in the world in thier quality of life. Seriously, do not. I was assigned this doctor by my insurance company and will be switching to someone else immediately. I fell from a ladder and hurt my foot. I went to the urgent care to get x-rays and initial care and was told to follow up with my PCP in five days. I managed to get an appointment scheduled easily enough, but that was where everything fell apart. Being on crutches, I asked them specifically if they had an x-ray facility on site so that I wouldn't have to keep figuring out transportation and was told they do. They do not. I got to the office and checked in, got to a room and spoke with a NP who seemed like she could have cared less about me or my injury. Without looking at my foot or the x-rays, I was shipped off with a referral for an MRI and additional x-rays at an imaging center across town, not on site. I had to ask when I would get information on duration of injury, any type of care for it and was told that I would receive a call Friday afternoon with details. That was not true. I started calling back on Monday to figure out what was going on and got half answers from the very unhelpful and rude staff at the front desk. I was told that they had not even seen my x-ray results yet (even though they were sent on Friday and I was told I was going to get a follow up call that afternoon) and from there it seems like no one knew what was going on. They sent the wrong referral to the imaging lab for my MRI. They told me they would be getting my authorization to the Ortho on Monday, which they didn't. Now I am being told that I am having to wait for my referral to come in the mail before I can even schedule my ortho appointment, even though they said it would be faxed over so I cold get started, or the following MRI. The staff has been completely unhelpful and I have not seen the actual doctor one time. These people could care less about their patients and more about the insurance money they get for referring you to outside help. There was seriously NO reason I needed to come here at all. Everything I am having done is being done by someone else and they are playing the middle man with authorizations (and extremely poorly at that). It is absolutely unprofessional and I will NOT be going back to them. I cannot stress enough how terrible this has been for me. Because of their complete inability to accomplish things in the times they mentioned, it will be another WEEK (at least) before I am able to get the care I went looking for when I went to their office. read more

Never thought I would be on YELP raving about an MDs office but here I am. This office is clean, neat, organized. Appts are on time, scheduled in a timely manner by professionals. They have a reputation for being efficient so their referrals also schedule in a timely manner. PA Chelsea and PA Glass are attentive, take time to answer questions and their diagnosis are 100% spot on. They are kind, caring and responsive. It brings back the feel of personal care and having a family doctor you can trust. The office staff shines! Friendly, it's amazing how quickly lab and procedure turn around time are handled. The follow up is almost instantaneous. Jesse, Grace and Dee are just a few of the people that make this team SO Fantastic. On second thought maybe I should stop gushing before everyone floods in. WOW!! Save your money and time. My Veterinary Clinic gives much better care and is many times more educated then this so called doctor. My Husband had a back injury, we were assigned here after our REAL Dr. retired, and then we only see Shahbaz's PA. She prescribed nerve medication. Of course those pills did nothing for him. Called today for help. Nothing. It only took two days for that office to respond. They are so unprofessional I am thinking of suing. Now we looking for a REAL dr. This dr.'s office is quick to give a patient ton's of paper work to see a "specialist", however shahbaz Cannot do anything himself. So what kind of Dr. is he. The kind you stay away from. I have been seeing Dr. Shahbaz for 5 years now. I have found Dr. Shahbaz and his staff to be professional and very helpful. Running a practice has many challenges one of them making every new patient happy when you have a popular/good doctor that you are trying to see, Sometimes it is difficult getting started in a new office. That is the only reason I can fathom some of these other reviews which I find highly inconsistent with my experience. I think it is also important to note that my father-in-law is ALIVE because of the direct intervention Dr. Shahbaz made on his behalf at a local hospital. He heard he went in to have emergency surgery and was struggling for his life. Care at the hospital was negligible and Dr. Shahbaz as I like to say, took a flame-thrower to the place and got him elevated attention that SAVED HIS LIFE! I will be forever thankful for this DOCTOR! I am a fellow healthcare professional with a busy practice and I look up to his clinical expertise as he is a role model for myself and many other physicians. I send many of my patients to this doctor because HE PROVIDES EXCELLENT and thorough care. I can't thank him enough and I will remain loyal to him and his practice for many years to come. read more

If you are wanting incompetent front office staff who do not follow through, tell you to check your messages before you call back because otherwise "you are wasting their time", be told faxes and or text results are not being input into charts because they are too busy after waiting 2 weeks for those results, realizing the office manager will never call back or "take care or look into anything" them this is the place to go. I was referred to Dr. Shahbaz by one of my specialist doctors. I had my first appointment at his office today, a meet & greet basically. I happen to have a myriad of medical conditions and a long list of medications. I openly and honestly provided Dr. Shahbaz with a list of all specialist doctors I am seeing, why I'm seeing them, & my complete medication list. Dr. Shabhaz became very upset because my former primary care physician is listed as the prescribing physician providing me with a specific prescription. (I contacted the pharmacy, they pulled the original prescription & admit it is an error. I asked them to make the records correct & notify me as soon as THEIR error has been made right.) Because of the discrepancy, Dr. Shahbaz requested that I see a Psychiatrist. I easily agreed. Can't hurt right? Dr. Shahbaz then literally yelled in the main section of his office "Why did Dr._ refer her to me? She's crazy! Call Dr. _ & tell her not to send me any more crazy patients like this!" All of his staff heard, everyone in the waiting room heard, including my teenage son, & I heard. He said this because I have the correct prescribing Dr. on my medication list & my medication list does not match the CURES medication list. (because of the pharmacy prescribing physician error). He could easily contact the pharmacy & verify that THEY had made the mistake! I was honestly very wounded by his comment. The last thing anyone suffering from anxiety, panic attacks, & depression needs to hear is that they're crazy. I responded by saying I was not crazy, I received no response from him whatsoever. It was as if he never even heard me. I received no apology, no recognition from him that what he said was inappropriate, unprofessional, & extremely hurtful. So, I went home, I cried, & now I am angry, frustrated, hurt, & disgusted. Seems he has forgotten his Hippocratic oath, "above all else do no harm". Dr. Shahbaz did harm me. His words cut me deeply. My spirit is wounded. He made me feel ashamed of my medical conditions. My integrity was thrown on the floor and stomped on by him. My faith in doctors is damaged. Shame Dr. Shahbaz. Shame on you! How dare you judge me or anyone else like that? 5 minutes of your precious time would have resolved the discrepancy right away. But no. Would I recommend him? Absolutely not! This rating has no reflection whatsoever on his staff. Those that I met were kind, helpful, caring, & the office is very clean. Dr. Shabaz was assigned to my mother-in-law about 6 months ago when her insurance coverage changed. She has a complicated health history. He made significant changes in her medication, including medication she had been prescribed by previous doctors for more than 20 years, without a plan for handling the transition. She has been hospitalized with extremely high blood pressure multiple times since she has been seeing him, but he and his office have not been responsive in calling her back or setting up expedited appointments to address this serious issue. read more

I have had Dr. Majid Shahbaz as my primary doctor for more years than I can count. Ever since he took over Dr. Vern Kent's practice. He has been my life saver with his caring, complete and monthly reveiw of my blood tests, ex-rays and tests. I have had five different types of cancer surgeries and treatments. I have Chemically induced workplace COPD. Rheumatoid arthritis. Sleep apnea. The one kidney I have left is functioning at 39%. Dr. Shahbaz told me I should have been dead ten years ago! I hugged him and thanked him and the Lord for keeping me here! Yes, he can be "straight-forward" with you, but it's because he cares so much. They even have a reputation with other doctors offices but if you stick it out and make it past the front office then you will undoubtedly be happy with your service. He listens when you say something is wrong and he thoroughly investigates everything. He's found answers that other doctors have failed to. PLEASE SEE MY UPDATE FOR 4/7/17 WHICH IS IMPORTANT FOR ANYONE THINKING OF USING THIS DOCTOR. IF YOU NEED FURTHER EXPLANTATION, I WOULD BE HAPPY TO OBLIGE. Ultimately, he demonstrated to us just how unprofessional he could be. When we had informed him that we were going to be getting a new doctor, he didn't take it so well because he sent us a letter terminating our doctor/patient relationship which was not only unnecessary but childish, if you ask me. He didn't like the fact that WE were dropping him as our doctor but rather HE felt the need to drop US as patients. Very, very unprofessional by any standards. And the kicker was that it was sent by certified mail so that he was assured that we received his insulting letter. Drop this doctor like a bad habit. Our new doctor spent more time with us in our first visit getting to understand and know about my mom than Shahbaz did over the course of one year that she was his patient. (4/7/17)Update: This guy is UNBELIEVABLE, he has sent us a bill because we had him send our new doctor whatever information he had pertaining to my mom's care. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I have NEVER been billed for something like this since it should be done as a COURTESY. If this doesn't scream out that this is NOT the doctor for you then I don't know what will. He is the most ridiculous doctor that I have ever dealt with from not doing injections of any kind in office(we were given prescriptions to go to the pharmacy to get Tetanus shot, etc) to his inattentiveness to my mom as a patient. I can't stress this enough to you, DO NOT USE THIS DOCTOR. If anyone would like me to give you additional details about him, please let me know because I've held back a lot in this review since there is a character limit to these reviews and I will let you know just what a joke of an individual and "doctor" he is. I recommend Dr. Shahbaz; my experiences with him have all been positive.. He is extremely caring toward his patients and a nice guy. He is also an excellent diagnostician, a very skilled and experienced doctor. Both my husband and I have been patients of his for over 4 years and I haven't had a problem with his staff. It's true that we have a shortage of Primary Care docs in San Diego and it can take longer to get in or the wait in the lobby is longer than we would like, but this guy is a gem. My mom is new to dr Shabz and I bring her to all.of her appts and we went and sat there for 45min waiting .The staff is rude my mom ran out of pills she has to have to walk and funtion so I called his office and his receptionist gave me nothing but a problem.My mom had all new assigned heart, neourology,general doctors and they couldnt refill her meds untill seen. So tried.to make an appt and the office was moving so couldn't see her for a month.I called dr Shabz and talked with his nurse and she gave me a hassel and said it couldn't be done he could not prescribe the medicine she needed. I went to my moms pharmacist and ask what I can do and she said that's not true the general doctor could prescribe her the medicine ??? So I called dr. Shabazz's office once again and told them what the pharmacist told me and miraculously my mom got her prescription after two days and probably 5 phone calls later.just awlful.front desk staff!!! read more
