Mars agreed to sell me an air conditioning unit. I got in my car and drove over to pick it up. When I got there, all the doors were locked. I knocked. No one answered. It was 2pm on a Wednesday which is during the normal business hours, and they knew I was coming. I went back to my car confused. I pulled up the listing for the AC unit and noticed it had been sold to someone else in the time it took me to drive to the Mars location. They didn't even attempt to tell me they sold it to someone else even though they knew I was on my way to pick it up. read more

Oh My Gosh! I went to Mars today, after a friends recommended them to me. Mars is cool. They have Couches, chairs, barbecues, big living Room rugs, beds, refrigerators, cabinets for the inside of your house lights, bikes, tents, pots and pans, sheets and so much more! My Husband and I loved the place! The staff is so kind and helpful. Arthur helped us. We got an amazing office chair for a great deal. Arthur you don't know how much this meant to us. Ive been going to Mars for over 5 years and im afraid to say they seemed to have changed their model from what it used to be. It used to be a place for great deals, now they seemed to have upped their prices with little or no negotiations available. I spoke with the guy who I have always dealt with and asked him about one of the bikes they had on display. I had checked on line and it was new at Wal-Mart to $159.99. Their model, as with most of their products had some defects. In this case the bike had a few rust spots here and there. I asked him how much and he said $150. I told him the brand new price that Wal-Mart were offering, and he told me "thats the price, take it or leave". Suffice to say I took his advice and headed to Wal-Mart. Thought this might have been an isolated incident, and dont like to leave negatuve reviews from just one encounter. However, I spoke with a couple of my friends, who frequent the place a lot more they I do, and they said they recounted similar experiences. Sorry Mars, but you lost your unique selling point. Now it seems you are just selling over priced, damaged goods with zero return policy. read more

I usually don't give negative reviews here on yelp but I felt like this post might help somebody who might get completely taken advantage of by this place. Back in the day you used to find some really good deals here but now the prices are just incredible and when we went today, the young man who works there was unbelievably rude. We went to get An umbrella for our patio set and we could not believe the prices. $550 for a hanging umbrella where you can find them for $150 brand new. They were selling umbrellas that were faded and old for $125, One of them even had a crack in the base and they wouldn't even budge on the price, and made us feel bad for even making another offer. Overall I would say the quality of the stuff they are getting is really low right now and especially given the price of it you're better off doing a quick Internet search and realizing how over-the-top their pricing is. To be fair some of the staff there were very friendly and welcoming but I don't think will be going back anytime soon after today. read more

I truly love this place!! I recently purchased a new home and have bought things as I can afford them. Andrea always is there to help me. She helped me get my new Casper mattress and had it delivered. Today I purchased a gorgeous rug and got it for 80% less than I would at Pier 1. She's my favorite! This place is horrible Arturo worker outside, is very rude!. I asked him a question regarding Xmas post for sale. I asked how much are these, he replied 15.00 light doesn't work. Cheap stuff. Let's start off with where they get their products from. Most are discarded items from other stores, because of damage or lack of sales. Some might have even come off the sidewalk of your neighborhood. The stuff comes here to get refurbished if needed and then it gets a price put on it. 90% of the time you can get them down in price. All sales final, cause they don't want it back again. So, if you think you have done really good buying a $1500 refrigerator for $200, maybe you did and maybe you didn't. Depends on where it came from and the repairs done. If you are a gambler or have knowledge of a particular item, you will have a success rate, if not, perhaps you will be happier somewhere else. read more

Good place to check out if you know what you're doing and don't feel uncomfortable bargaining. Make sure you have your smartphone handy and Amazon or eBay queued up. Sometimes I see things in there that are actually priced higher than they would be brand new. Don't be afraid to pull up the item on your iPhone and use the online prices to drive down their price. Also, don't assume just because something's in a box that it's nicer than what's on display (boxes are great for hiding cosmetic damages.) My most important word of advice would be to CHECK EVERYTHING! (FYI-their return policy doesn't allow you to return an item for cosmetic damages.) I recently went and bought a steam cooker, that I'm very happy with BTW, but I had to check 4 boxes before I found everything that it was supposed to come with. One had the steamer and directions but no water measuring cup or spatula. Another had a measuring cup and nothing else... You get my point. Check them all and piece together everything you need. Final Word If you shutter at the thought of going to a car dealership this place may not be for you. If you're good at bargaining and have the patience to sift through piles of items to get a good deal this place is for you. read more

I've used Mars in the past and it was OK at best. I went there the other day and purchased Patio furniture. I was told by a manager that if I chose a set with in 30 minutes. We chose a set in 20 minutes, and were told delivery won't happen that day, and it was rescheduled for Monday. On Monday I called to confirm delivery and was told no drivers came in and that it will have to be trained rescheduled again. I tried to explain that I worked the rest of the week during the day, and that it was guaranteed for Monday. The lady became nasty and told me that she doesn't control the drivers and couldn't help me. Due to the broken delivery promises (twice) and the rudeness of the staff, I will never shop here again. read more

This place can be chaotic. I went in seeing that and set my expectations accordingly. The place is thinly staffed, so they won't spend too much time hand holding and walking along side you while you shop. If you want that, go elsewhere. If you want to walk around and get the things you really want to consider buying, THEN ask price, then you will like this place. They will sometimes negotiate, though they do have floor prices they won't go beyond. Yes, prices fluctuate. If you know what price something is MSRP, and what price you want to pay, then you can ask the price and see if there is movement. We bought some pieces, went back a week later and they had significant changeover of inventory in the patio furniture area. This place moves things... quickly. If you like something and know its value to you, work a price and hurry up and go pay for it. We saw 3 chairs we liked, got a price and hemmed and hawed for 5 minutes. We decided to buy, paid for them, and then found out a couple were trying to buy the same chairs while we were paying. We got them since we paid for them first, but boy... move fast here. The staff were quite friendly if you give them room to leave you if they have to. Cornering them and expecting VIP treatment is not fair to this place. Items are essentially Home Depot, Costco & Wayfair items.. at better prices due to being returns / excess inventory / etc items. It IS a mess as other reviewers noted.. Honestly, they don't usually receive their stock well organized.. It comes in, they have to flip it to make room for more. This is not a showroom.. this is a warehouse flipping great deals.. but know the value YOU place on it. I like this place; if your a snob this is NOT the place for you...but if you are looking to save money and get a bargain deal "thumbs up" Dont get me wrong not everything is in perfect condition but that is where common sense and attention to detail come in. be sure to check the item from top to bottom thoroughly and make sure every part is working correctly, if it isnt and you have problems bring it back immediately. They will give you an exchange or credit for the item. I have bought everything from a CA King pillow top mattress (New $300) to adjustable weight set ($30) Both items mentioned were a steal if you actually do price comparisons, so i am not complaining. You never know what they will have so i like to go there just for fun to see what i can find.....open yourself up and you will be pleasantly surprised. Only once did I have a problem with one of the people that worked there in regards to a hepa-filter high end vacuum I bought, he was kinda a D*** to me but I waited a week and simply went in and talked to someone else! I had been to a "Costco" clearance store out in Monrovia numerous times. They had great deals and were very well organized. This place was a dump, nothing had prices outside of major appliances - you had to find the one employee carrying a stack of white paper to get a price and have her write it up on the paper. Small selection and most in terrible condition. Patio furniture looked like it had been out in the elements for years. The large umbrella was more expensive than a brand new one at Home Depot. Will not be seen there again - absolutely horrible. Complete waste of gas and time!!! read more

This is my favorite place to find furniture and other home decor items. Hands down the best prices - it appears their items are usually from Costco but then returned. Some items have damage, some items are in perfect condition. Arthur outside is the best sales person! So helpful and friendly. I bought a patio set in the box.
