I recently stayed there and was fraudulently charged for parking. I have been emailing and calling for my refund. (Even got a submission ticket number) and still haven't gotten my money back. They claimed I parked a car when I didn't even have a car to begin with! I told the front desk person I didn't have a car either when I checked in. On top of that the rooms were small, dark, and depressing. The hotel needs a serious deep clean because it's disgusting. read more

When we arrived and checked in on my phone, got the virtual key that doesn't work for the gate but no signs identifying that. You have to actually have a room key. You are charged $45 a night to park which I obviously didn't see on the app. I went in the front doors which are handicapped friendly and handicapped parking if you need it in the parking garage. You can climb the stairs, an escalator or the elevator to get to the front desk to actually get a plastic room key even though you have a virtual key. The two queen bed on the app photo for the waterfront room shows a balcony, so this is what I thought we were getting. We upgraded to the concierge floor, more in that later. The room we have is very spacious. You aren't crowded at all. Ample room in the large bathroom also. There is a desk, a bench, single serve coffee maker, which we didn't use, one chamomile tea bag and one English tea bag, 4 creamers in a wooden box. The windows start at the floor and go up over 5 ft for a fabulous view of the Savannah River where we saw numerous barges with crates up to our windows, tug boats, ferry and old steam boats passing leisurely by onto serious waters. To watch the river activity there is a small round table and two comfortable chairs. The beds are ok for comfort with each bed sporting 4 pillows. We used the service desk to make arrangements for a trolley tour, the employee stated she was freezing, was a temp, couldn't get the credit card/ticket machine to work, this took over 25 minutes...she complained how old the piece of equipment was. We have a $6 black cup of coffee waiting to be picked up because there are no complimentary coffee offered. The ferry dock is located on this property. The condition of the room is quite surprising for a Marriott property. This definitely needs to be either updated or fixed. The view is worth the price, the condition of the room is not. We're going to try other river view hotels next time. When we came back from the tour, had dinner at 45 Bistro which we enjoyed, we went to the tiny concierge room where no employee could be found. We passed someone sitting in a chair by the door talking with someone loudly on a personal phone call, well she was the employee...she ignored us and kept talking to whoever...we searched the small area for a soda, all were warm. My sister wanted a glass of wine which is normally free in these areas. There wasn't any, we asked the employee who looked not happy to have to put her call down and answer us nastily as she opened a door where small bottles of wine were inside a large black garbage bag and said she had to charge it to our room, we declined and she went back to her phone call. The tiled ledges in the bathroom are filthy, I've been in gas station bathrooms in better and cleaner condition. read more

If you aee visiting Savannah you must stay at this Marriot. Fist the view of the rives is spectacular then you have a ferry right in front of the hotel that will take you to downtown, if you don't feel like walking. This hotel is located just 5 minutes from downtown which is so convenient. If you made a list like us to visit all the places, here is where you start. The stores and restaurants are literally a walking distance and all the attractions as well. Walking through the promenade and stores its a wonderful experience. This hotel offer parking, but you have to pay. The bar is very nice and comfortable. The staff is amazing. They will do anything to make your stay a memorable experience. If you have breakfast included, take it its good quality. Very nice rooms and areas for relaxation. Can't wait to visit it again. read more

I had a wonderful girls' getaway with friends and it was AMAZING because of this hotel. Here's why: First of all, the VIEW. The rooms have a balcony that look out over the atrium so you can see the river. Stunning. We tapped on the balcony with Prosecco and had the best time. Secondly, we enjoyed the food! Don't get me wrong, we ate our way around Savannah, but when we didn't feel like going out, we ordered from the restaurant. The birthed is really good, and the chicken carbonara was DELICIOUS (that creamy sauce!). Also, the hotel is literally from the river, so we can walk to a bunch of cool things without having to Uber. And this might not matter to some people, but the beds were comfortable as well front desk staff was really friendly. Those small things matter to me. I plan on going again with my husband. We enjoyed staying at this hotel. I would recommend that they put a microwave in the rooms. We had a king room with the balcony overlooking the pool and riverfront side view. It was very nice and the food at both restaurants were good and the prices are reasonable. Lastly, the Elite lounge was closed for some reason, so we weren't able to enjoy that added benefit. read more

What was good: Location, location, location! This place is on the riverfront and just a short walk to the historic district. Food is great. Ate at the atrium bar a couple different times. Rooms are clean and well appointed. The price was reasonable. What wasn't as good: Rooms are small, atrium had children running around screaming til late in the night (after 8 pm). My room abutted the roof where all of the HVAC equipment was. It was loud and it didn't give up. They should consider drapes that dampen the noise for these rooms. I am Platinum Elite with Marriot Bonvoy. This was not as good of a stay as compared to many others. There was also a language barrier with some of the service staff. Like many, i have traveled quite bit, 1 million+ miles on airplanes, years in motels (Marriott - 700+ nights - Platinum Elite) But none of that was known by the staff when i arrived at midnight & they couldn't find my reservation. There was a mixup with the reservations made by a corporate agent. Glen Dover (i hope i got your name right) at the front desk was juggling a hundred little girls staying after a concert, other people checking in and my problem. Glen worked with me, kept me informed, and was able to track down my corporate POC, kept a good sense of humor and i was in my room by 1am. I really appreciate the effort he did to take care of me. The room itself is nice as to be expected at a Marriott Property. The is the south, so outside is hot & humid, so some of the tropical scent waft into the room. I'm looking forward to the rest of my stay, after some sleep, of course. read more

This building is clearly old, but should have never been zoned for a hotel. There is no quiet hour, you hear everything. The doors to the rooms aren't even sealed...(picture attached). This makes for an unsafe environment. Also, they asked if we had a car at the front desk and immediately added a 40 dollar up-charge to the already expensive bill to stay at this place. For an over 300 dollar one night stay, I would expect free wifi but that also does not, of course, come included. There are many better places to stay in Savannah, I've learned my lesson, never let anyone else book your stay without doing your own research. I'd say with this experience, this place definitely earns its 2 star rating here on yelp. read more

Truly the staff is what makes this Marriott great. While it shows it's age in some areas, the rooms are still nicely appointed and updated. The river views are unbeatable of the cargo ships coming in. The restaurant in the lobby is great for a drink and snacks or even dinner. Service is always wonderful. Upon check-in, they've greeted my son cheerfully with a basket of toys to choose from that makes him feel so special. Walking distance to downtown or a quick ferry ride to the JW Marriott area if you aren't feeling up to the walk. It feels safer down on the end and parking is easy thanks to this as well. Breakfast in the concierge lounge is nice as well as the buffet in the Blue restaurant is well appointed. read more

The staff were exceptional--especially I.W. at the front desk, who went above and beyond to make sure everything started off smoothly. Her warmth and professionalism set the tone for a great stay. Our room was room 768. It's an incredible view. You can see the sunset from this window and the sunrise. It is far far away from the ice machine, which is great. At first glance, the room looks to be clean they give you two complementary bottles of water . If you ask for more filtered water, they give it to you at the front desk. I was not happy with the cleanliness of the shower and sheets . The bar area was really a hang out for all the guests. My husband got one of the best old fashions ever he got it made a single barrel rum and the bartender muddled the orange and the cherry. There is staff everywhere to be available for help. I could not find signs for the hotel restaurant named Blue anywhere. There should be signage as to where it is in the lobby. My husband comes here for business trips on a monthly basis. This is the first time I've come with him. He likes it because of the free EV charging. There's about four spots. It's also great because it is right on the Riverwalk and there's a great view if you are given a great room. Because he is staying here often it seems like they're giving him better room choices because he staying here so much. I was super shocked at the little things that really matter in this room . When we got off the floor, the lobby right at the elevators reeks of humidity, wet smell I'm guessing it's because of the high temperatures we've been having recently but still that's all on the seventh floor. As Elite members we expect more! By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at. Staff is not friendly, unprofessional and does not help. Now to the bad part: we get here, no help with our luggage. Staff couldn't find our room reservation for a bit. Now the worst part: we take our luggage up, go out to dinner. Come back and notice that our room smells like mold and dirty socks. Horrible smell coming from the carpet, then my wife is sitting down and sees a ROACH run across the floor! A ROACH at a Marriot hotel? This place truly needs to be demolished and rebuilt. You can hear everything inside in the halls all night and on the river, no insulation was considered obviously. All they did was move us to a higher floor, nothing else. Now the new room! This hotel has the famed location right on the river, but it's definitely an older place. The wifi in the rooms is really bad. I was working remotely and couldn't do almost anything from the room. I ended up having to spend my days in a coffee shop. The wifi is a little better in the lobby, but it was loud in there. Additionally, when we first walked into the room it did have a slight smoke/musty smell that other reviews have mentioned. The ac in the gym wasn't working so they had 2 floor fans going. The gym is the one place you really want the ac to be working! All of the staff was pretty nice so that was a plus. And housekeeping was really sweet! read more

I was a little surprised to see the overall rating of this place since it's a Marriott and located on the river. There is plenty of parking; but beware, if you lose your parking ticket they will charge you a STEEP $100!! They do have valet as well. We didn't use the valet. When you walk in, the lobby and bar looks really nice. The bar was very busy! They didn't have a cocktail menu easily available so we were stuck waiting for a while for that. There are no prices on the menu... that should've been my first clue! I ordered a lady lemon, which was good but small and my husband got an old fashioned which had too much ice in it for an old fashioned. Brace yourselves... $31!!!! Highway robbery. We came here for an event, and the event space was very nice. The catering staff was friendly and quick. The food was decent but cold by the time it came out. They had an event bar set up for us, with different drinks than the lobby bar (cheaper by a few dollars, but less options and not as good). Update: Hotel replied to my Yelp review but never made contact with me. I called for daily for weeks and even though I was able to speak with multiple managers it was found the only person that handles "billing" issues is on site once a month. Lots of promises but no resolutions. Please do not let this place fool you. It's poorly owned and managed. There are a lot of options in this area- don't stay here if you have the choice. You can avoid a headache later. I eventually over a month later had to dispute the charges through my bank since the hotel manager could only tell me that they would email the "billing person" and they NEVER CONTACTED me back. My bank investigated and found the hotel at fault. This was an additional step I should not have had to take but unfortunately the hotel is almost impossible to work with. I travel very often and almost always have positive experiences even at "lower end" places. Unfortunately, this place could not clear the very low bar of just charging me once for my room- and providing customer service and a refund if THEY mistakenly charge you again. We stayed here as part of a package we won as a charity auction. This was our first time to Savannah and we lived it, what a beautiful city. Checking in to this hotel, however, was less than a poor par for titanium elite status. No ask for welcome gift, and immediately downgraded into a wheelchair room because I am visually impaired (I do not use a wheelchair and never asked for this). This room has no counter space and is next to elevator, not riverfront view like we were promised. The bathroom tiles are moldy, the spout is loose and spills water to the side, and one of the fixtures in the tub has fallen off. The room smells moldy, despite it being recently renovated. Staff in restaurants is outstanding, however. But I would not come here again. Don't make biased assumptions, check-in staff. read more

I've been fighting to get 1400.00 back for 3 weeks now. Thank you Marriott for such a beautiful and relaxing stay. We arrived traveling from August with thunderstorm and gully washers and the Manager Anthoni Instani (I believe) made us feel so at home. TL/DR: Walkable. Pretty clean. Needs some serious work on Covid precautions. We stayed here for 3 nights the weekend of 3/5/21. Location: The hotel is at the far end of the riverfront. It's not in the heart of downtown, but it's perfectly walkable. We actually loved this location because we got plenty of steps in! If you're willing and able to walk, this is in a great location. It's like a brisk 5 minute walk to the end of River Street and a 15-20 minute walk to most places downtown. Covid precautions (or lack thereof): Staff were wearing masks. They have signs that say masks are required and signs that encourage social distancing. However, we were extremely disappointed in the blatant disregard for these rules. They are doing nothing to enforce them. We saw so many people without masks--even in the elevator. We tried to only get in the elevator when no one else was in it, but that certainly didn't stop people from getting right on with us. They should have signs that say only one party in the elevator at a time. Elite perks: My husband is Titanium Elite, which normally affords us free breakfast and water, but not right now due to Covid. We think it would've been very easy to just give us some water bottles when we checked in. They're offering 750 points per night to make up for it, but why not also just give us the free water? We're sure this is company-wide, so we won't hold it against this specific Marriott. They did deliver a little chocolate cake to our door for his birthday, which was a nice touch! Room: Bed was very comfortable. Plenty of space. Felt clean. We had a nice balcony with a view of the river. Very thankful we didn't have a room with a balcony that looked into the lobby of the hotel. Bathroom: Clean enough. Vent in shower could use some cleaning though. Housekeeping: They're not doing cleanings during your stay due to Covid, which we understand and appreciate! Overall, our stay here was great. This Marriott hotel is located on the river, but because it is at the very end of Riverwalk the historic district and many popular tourist sights and restaurants are at least a mile away. I don't mind walking, but it was a bit of a pain maneuvering our stroller through some of the cobblestone streets during hot and humid July. If you're looking to be closer to the nightlife I would suggest a hotel more centrally located on the river. Our room overlooked the Savannah River and the indoor lobby. My mischievous toddler thought it was funny to open the blinds overlooking the lobby so we were unable to lounge in our pajamas in the morning. Because our room overlooked the lobby it also wasn't the quietest. This hotel is more geared towards business travelers and lacks the southern charm of other hotels in Savannah so it would not be my first choice next time we visit Savannah. read more

The hotel was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The concierge was helpful. I appreciated the Porter helping me take our bags to the room. We had a balcony with a partial view of the Savannah River. Their big porch overlooking the River was beautiful. They have several tables with Fire Pits filled with glass to enjoy at night. Our room was pretty basic. We had two king beds, a nice television, mini fridge and a small one cup coffeemaker. The room was clean overall. The beds and linens were clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was some black mold in the shower. The vent in the bathroom could use a cleaning. Those were the only two problems that I saw. We did not visit the restaurant so I can't comment on it. It looked very nice though. It was always full of people. We also did not visit the pool area or use the gym. Basically, the hotel is fine and the employees were all very friendly. The problem was I found the cleaning products used in the room and in the lobby to have an overwhelming odor of men's cologne. I thought someone must have smashed a bottle of cologne in my room but then noticed it in the common areas also. The sit down breakfast on Saturday was very annoying. Waiting to be sat by a hostess at a table first thing in the morning and then having to order off menu or the buffet was just frustrating as compared with the open buffets many hotels have. We were also sat at a high bistro table with two small children after waiting which was not ideal for kids. read more

With all the walking that you do you need a good nights sleep and these beds just won't give it to you. I've stayed in this hotel four times. This is the last time. From now on, I'm choosing a newer hotel near the river so that I can at least get a half decent bed. I'm not quite sure what writing reviews is going to do. I doubt it's going to change a thing. I also didn't get that nice attune smell this hotel normally has. I guess if you don't mind a comfortable bed and stains on your bed and mold, coming out of the vents, then go for it. This hotel is dated and expensive, but I enjoyed my stay here. I would recommend getting a room that does NOT face the atrium; and instead get one that faces the outside. I got a room with a balcony and it was fantastic! The room was clean and the AC worked just fine. The hotel all around is a bit empty and older; but I like it. The location was also very good because it was not right in the main hustle & bustle of the river street but still very close. There were plenty of parking options, but getting out with the gate and tickets was annoying. Some improvements can be made here, but overall a nice way to stay in Savannah! read more

I took my first visit to Savannah Georgia, and it certainly will not be my last! First off, if you're planning a trip to Savannah it is by far one of my most favorite cities that I've traveled to- it's romantic, historic, emotional, and just beautiful overall! I stayed at the Marriott Savannah Riverfront and I felt inclined to let others know what a convenient Location this Marriott is in regards to everything that you want to explore here in the city. For history buffs, it's the perfect location- it is the last stop on the Riverwalk and I started at the end and worked my way towards the beginning. There are 15 interpretive historical didactic panels which help visitors walk and read along the riverfront about the beginnings, the people, the economy and the waterfront community that make Savannah what it is today. This truly is a sister city to the New Orleans and Charleston South Carolina. All three cities have a very romantic waterfront field. Couple the Marriott location with the fact that it's within walking distance of hundreds of restaurants, dozens of historical tours, shopping and historical sites and you have a perfect place to rest your head and enjoy your stay. It's clean and well-kept, with the luxury you come to expect with a Marriott. I would like to personally commend an individual who assisted me during my stay who went above and beyond to help me find a solution to a problem while staying there. Sabia, who is an agent at this particular location, handled my concern and my problem with efficiency and a smile on her face. She made me feel welcome as well as helping save me from a painful evening of trying to figure out a solution- kudos to her & her team there in Savannah. The day of check out, Sunday. I planned to check out at noon. My plane was departing at two. Our Marriott status is Lifetime Titanium Elite and this year we are Ambassador Elites. Meaning we are entitled to late check out. Housekeeping first knocked on my hotel door at ten. I did tell her I was checking out about eleven-thirty. A different person in housekeeping knocked on my hotel door a little after ten-thirty. I repeated again, I'm checking out about eleven-thirty. A few minutes go by, the first person from housekeeping who knocked on my door at ten. She's back without knocking and enter the room. She rudely says, "Are you leaving?" I repeated eleven-thirty. It doesn't stop there. A new person from Housekeeping shows up with a clipboard in her hand. Same Ol' thing. Ruining otherwise a perfectly great stay! I was there for the Savannah Food and Wine Festival. But I got so much more. I receive each morning a wealth of information from the Gentlemen standing in front of the hotel greeting guest. Those guys made you feel welcome. They were more like friends suggesting this restaurants, or this boutique or this ice cream shop. And after a long day I looked forward to relaxing in the Concierge Lounge catching up with the host. I think we all were vying for his attention. On top of that, the food was delicious, atmosphere excellent. I'll post pictures of the food too. The Atrium/lobby is gorgeous! Floor to ceilings window facing the Savannah River. Plenty of room to sit and people watch. There's a nice size bar to accommodate more than twenty people. I adore my room, beautiful décor, and spacious. The hotel clerk and I joked about my room number, 666. He did give me a option of changing rooms. But, oh no! The balcony outlook in this room I bet is better than any other room.
