Can I give Negative Stars??? I have stayed at this hotel for 8 years for a convention. This year was an absolute disaster. The air wasn't halfway working. The convention spaces were hot and several had mold issues and trash cans everywhere to collect dripping water. My room had a leaking window issue that cause our carpet to be wet and some of our stuff got wet. Some of the other convention goers had black mold in their rooms/showers. We were there for 8 days and after a couple of days our cleans clothes started smelling mildewy from just being in the room. They discounted my bill slightly (removed 2 days of parking and then added a $50 credit). Overall this stay still cost me around $2000. It was not worth it and if I didn't have to stay in the hotel for the convention itself I would have changed hotels. I reached out and all they offered was to add 20,000 points to their app thing that I don't care about or use and when I told them that they never responded again. Try doing upkeep on your hotel. read more

Let me say this is by far one of THE WORST hotel experiences I've ever had at any hotel. Short version: Dirty rooms and common areas, staff is untrained, no free wi-fi, no bottled water, no amenities outside of your basic soaps and shampoos (hope you like patchouli scents) not even pen and paper in rooms. Breakfast? Hahaha. No! They'll charge you $5 for hotel coffee. There is a notice when you check in that you should alert them by midnight if you'd like Housekeeping Service the next day. So when I checked in (there was a dirty plate outside the room with food scraps on it) my room had someone else's dirty socks, dust, dirty carpets, and pink mold in the shower, I immediately let them know that yes in fact I would like service the next day. I even took a handwritten list to the front desk for them to pass off to HK Staff along with noting the dirty dish in the hallway. The next afternoon I returned from a day out, noted the same dirty dish that not only stayed there overnight (no staff walks halls at night?) but was still sitting there. Pop the door open, and sure enough... no housekeeping service. Had to change for a dinner so spoke with the SAME young lady at the desk who I handed the list to the night before. (Red hair, never wore a nametag). I'd like it done now, but if not... please do so tomorrow! She noted it again. After dinner, of course, dish still there drawing ants, and room still dirty. Day 3! Went to the desk on the way out as I now have serious doubts as to the ability of this staff to get a room cleaned and spoke with Catlin at the desk. Let her know about the list, the dish, and the issues so far. She assured me that this would be done while I was out. Returned around 4pm and... you guessed it, dish and room still in the same state. At this point I spoke with Kyle a 'manager on duty' who had your typical excuses of communication issues... blah blah blah. He was nice enough but at this point it was just comical how poorly run this hotel is. I went to the bar downstairs where the ONE! One! awesome member of this staff resides and that is Kay. She was overtly friendly and kind all three days of my stay. A diamond in this lump of coal of a property. I waited there for an hour and a half while they assured me my room would be cleaned. It was... well... a surface level clean. Mold still in shower, dust, and oh yeah, those socks were still there even after they "cleaned" the room and I told them specifically where they were. The plate did finally get picked up. When I say "cleaned" I mean they wiped things down, made the bed (not a full sheet change) and dropped off towels. They couldn't even be bothered to put them on the shelf, just dropped them on the bathroom counter. Lastly, they (the desk staff) could not even get our reservations straight. We were paying for two rooms on one card, I get that you take a credit card for incidentals, but when we tell you at check in AND check out to put ALL charges on an Amex not a Visa you would think they could at least get that done. Nope! Just looked and my Visa has a $700+ charge on it processed the day after our checkout. Would definitely stay here again. Passing through (long story) and Nadine was fantastic at the front desk. We talked about Game of Thrones (HBO access in the room), the free water taxi, and where to go tomorrow on our short stay in Savannah. We ate at the Atrium bar (lunch and dinner restaurant) as Blue is just for breakfast. Dawn was our bartender and server extraordinaire (and she named the restaurant).She made great drinks, talked about places we should see and served up fantastic meals. My Lemon Chicken Picatta was delicious and filling. Hubby's meal was also good and we had no room for dessert. Dawn did mention we could get local favorite Leopold's ice cream at the little shop by the front desk. The room was beautiful and functional and had an excellent view off of the balcony. My only complaints are the AC would not kick on - even when the thermostat was at 60 degrees and high fan it was the same constant low level of air. It was not comfortable after we both showered in the morning and the bathroom had no vent for steam. All the steamy air just stayed in the room and made it hot. Another minor issue is the lack of lighting in the bathroom. I know the big back-lit mirror looks fancy and soothing but it sucks to put makeup on. And the mirror was all steamed up from the showers (hair dryer did take care of that). Despite these two inconveniences, the bed was comfy, we slept well, and enjoyed our stay. read more

As Marriott platinum elite members I don't think we have ever given a property less than four stars, ever. But the blatant disregard for social distancing and "mandatory mask wearing" at this property was so offputting that we quarantined in our room for our entire stay. To make matters worse their phone system for obtaining room service was down and so we had to go to the bar area that was filled with people not wearing masks and not social distancing to find out how to order food. Once there we were told that the kitchen is at the other end of the building and there was no way to order food because system was down. There was no way we were going to eat at any of the restaurants on this property and unlike other reviewers we were not about to wander around looking at The cool items this hotel had to offer. We were quite lucky when a worker from the kitchen came to the bar to deliver food and we gave our order to him. Not too long later our "room service" arrived. We are learning to manage our expectations with COVID however we paid almost $40 for a burger and a quesadilla to be delivered in a brown paper bag in to-go packaging. I am all for takeout, but not if you are going to charge room service prices for it. The two stars are for the excellent shower; very hot water and great pressure. And an extremely comfortable and quiet bed. My husband got up twice and I didn't even feel him leave the bed. The room was nicely appointed with mid century furniture however we were really turned off by the "super spreader" atmosphere in the lobby and bar area. Lastly, this appeared to be a dated property in need of a deep clean; from hallway carpets to elevators. The new girl at the front desk was very charming and we felt badly she was left to explain how 750 points could make up for a closed concierge and no breakfast. TLDR; the amenities mostly suck. Spend your money elsewhere and pick another hotel. Location is good for downtown access. The entry way is nice with a cool view of the river walk. Inside is really open and welcoming and there is a well-lit bar that is always busy. The bartenders are attentive and provide quick service. The room was big, but oddly arranged. We had a room with a connecting door but this lacked any soundproofing. All night we heard a TV blaring sports center. The next night was a bit better until 4 am when a couple of drunk people arrived to this adjoining room and proceeded to have an extremely loud verbal argument. This garrulous quarrel extending in the morning hours of 7am or so....which finally gave us some peace...until 8 am when about 3 alarm clocks blared into our room sounding like an angry Big Ben. We spent time discussing this in person before we checked out...guests will be guests, but providing a quiet atmosphere for sleep should be a minimum requirement for a hotel. Sound proofing a room from an adjoining space is not that difficult or expensive. Dismissed. Dismissed and ignored. Also, the gym exists, but barely. Clean towels and water cups. A couple of cardio machines and some dumbbells with a crappy machine in the corner. Everything was just dirty. The floor, the weights and even the door. The pool is outside and seasonal...which means closed during the "winter" in GA. Oh, $40 a night to park your car. The staff was mostly helpful, but they don't have the authority to fix this kind of problem. This a management issue. This assuredly cannot be the only time they have heard of this issue, but spending a little money to fix this does not seem to align with managements goals. I guess that for 6 nights - $2100 I was expecting a bit more. The pros - comfortable room, location near walkway leading to riverfront. The cons - housekeeping , or lack of was a complete joke. No signs telling me I have to let them know if I want room cleaned- once that was settled- I still had to contact front desk 2 more times and literally beg for room cleaning. Swimming pool is a cement pond- fully shaded until noon time. Water is freezing cold though it has been 90 degrees for a week. Obnoxious odor of gasoline fumes from? Street? When trucks go by - conversation has to stop so loud. No water in room, WiFi $12.50 a day. Not like the Marriotts I have stayed at in the past. read more

The hotel was beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The concierge was helpful. I appreciated the Porter helping me take our bags to the room. We had a balcony with a partial view of the Savannah River. Their big porch overlooking the River was beautiful. They have several tables with Fire Pits filled with glass to enjoy at night. Our room was pretty basic. We had two king beds, a nice television, mini fridge and a small one cup coffeemaker. The room was clean overall. The beds and linens were clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable. There was some black mold in the shower. The vent in the bathroom could use a cleaning. Those were the only two problems that I saw. We did not visit the restaurant so I can't comment on it. It looked very nice though. It was always full of people. We also did not visit the pool area or use the gym. We had a great experience there overall. This was our first trip to Savannah. We definitely want to come back again. read more

Absolutely loved our stay here, and being in the historic district right by the river was amazing. Places to eat and other shops are easily in walking distance, which is great because there is not really parking outside of the hotel. Stayed in a junior suite and was surprised (in a good way) how large the room was for the price we paid. Room and bathroom were very clean, only downside was that the walls are just a little thin, we could hear the person in the next room watching tv at night. Ambiance in the lobby area was great, very modern looking. We did however have to wait about an hour after check in time was though to be able to go to our room which was odd. Would definitely like to stay here again next time we visit Savannah! read more

I always have high standards when I stay at a Marriott and this one was a slight disappointment. It's a walkable distance from all the restaurants but it's not centrally located. Due to COVID they're only doing housekeeping in between guest stays. We were only there for two nights but it did cause the hotel room cleanliness to be subpar. There was dried blood on the walls in the bathroom. There was also mold on the ceiling of the shower (probably because the vent wasn't working). The rest of the room was in great condition and the bed was super comfortable. Their spa, gym, and lounge are closed due to COVID. They do give you extra points due to it. However, when we called if they had free waters for titanium members that they could bring up to the room, they said "the gift shop in the lobby sells water." That was a slight disappointment, especially since they were still doing room service. There wasn't a lot going on at the hotel so we didn't spend any additional time there. read more

Headquarters hotel for a work conference. Definitely nothing outstanding- and really pretty average. I found the people that worked here to be very nice and wanting to please. The housekeeping and front desk staff were outstanding. Straight up though, the hotel is tired. Yes the room had some upgrades- bedding and towels and flooring and some furniture but lots of different aspects were just old. I took a shower and the hand held cord came out of the wall!! Yes maintenance fixed it, but geez . The hot water takes... not kidding- about 5 minutes to get to my seventh floor. They do have what seems to be a really nice menu in the lobby bar area- I got shrimp cargo? Something like escargot but with shrimp and a ton of melted cheese- ughh. Awful choice, I'll leave it at that. Again.., service staff was terrific. This hotel is a 2.5 star with need for work. The management of this hotel should be very grateful for the hard working staff they have. It's along the river which is nice I guess if you have a room overlooking but otherwise nothing special. read more

He almost got me ran over by directing a very large truck to pull in between my car and another car while we were unloading. Room was nice. Air conditioner made a horrid noise every time it kicked on keeping us awake all night both nights and didn't cool the room properly. The bar and food service close early. Shower doors are huge pieces of glass that are not maintained. The roller on the glass door was loose and door came down while I was in the shower. Dangerous and extremely glad my child was not in the shower when it came off. If you choose not to use valet or valet is closed when you arrive, parking spaces are VERY small and for $40/night, I would expect parking a decent distance away, but we had to park pretty far away. Lots of other options for hotels available in the area that would probably be better option if you're looking for a good night's sleep for your money. Been attending Marine Corps balls here for the past 4 years. This year has been the worse for many reasons. 1. We had to buy a domestic beer ticket for $9. Ending up using that ticket for one beer, paying $9. 2. After the ceremony all attending guest left their tables to go wait in various long lines. Whether it was to have photos taken or getting drinks at the bars. Dinner was starting to be served following the closing of the ceremony. Once returned, all the dinner meals (untouched because all the guest were in long lines) were being taking up and thrown away by the workers. As a Marriott Rewards member I was very disappointed with this particular Marriott establishment. We stayed here for a wedding and had two major issues with our room. Well, let me start out by saying that the hotel is within great distance to all the shops and restaurants which is a plus! The hotel is located by an area which looks a little bit industrial it seems as though more shops are being built right around where the hotel is. Okay, now back to the issues of our room. Our heat wasn't working in our room. The vent blew out cold air. I called for room service and also had to walk down to the lobby before the maintenance man came up to fix it. I was told he may have left for the evening. We also found hair in our bed. The sheets had hair on them and were not cleaned! One of the employees came up the first time gave us sheets and said he wasn't able to put them on our bed we had to do it. He left the sheets and the luggage chart with the sheets for us to do. The sheets were too small so we then proceeded to walk back or take the elevator back down to the lobby. We insisted on speaking with a manager. The manager was already aware of the issues and apologized he gave us a credit on our room and had the proper sized sheets delivered to our room. We were extremely tired from the wedding we came into town for and didn't go to bed until wee hours of the morning due to all the hassle with our hotel. We also had to leave the next morning. We were grateful for the credit but will think twice next time of staying at this hotel. read more

The room was also loud from traffic on the main road! Conceirge longe- staff was nice but room was very small and the banging of dishes being stacked and put on carts to roll out made guests jump! Food was rolled in on a cart!!! This place does have rooms. Lipstick on a pig is the only way I can describe this property. Room rates are priced according to a full service "nice" hotel. Look at the nice photos because it goes down from there. Bugs in our super humid (uncomfortably humid) and hot swamp room. The "balcony" is actually overlooking some strange atrium and here's the best part: it's shared. So someone in another room can just stand at your window and stare you down. I would not be able to recommend this hotel for much other than a refugee shelter in an emergency. Go elsewhere. only good thing about this place is the breakfast restaurant. the food & service there was amazing.. BUT My parents planned a trip for my birthday & we stayed here at the marriott. we went to lay in bed the first night we stayed at 10:30 pm & saw a blood stain on the sheets. we also had pills underneath the counter in the bathroom. we called the front desk & they didn't come up for about 15-20 minutes. when they did the cleaner didn't have his supplies & had to leave about 4 or 5 times just to get us clean sheets. by the time the room was finally cleaned it was 11:15. we went to the front desk to the manager & he said he'd make sure it was cleaned while we were out the next day. fast forward to the next day. we went out for the whole day. neither of our 2 rooms were cleaned. the cleaning people were a door down from us when we left yet they never came. we went to the manager again & told him our room still was not cleaned multiple times & it never got cleaned. by the time we got back at 10 pm last night it still wasn't cleaned & we didn't feel like waiting for bed until they finally decided to clean our room. either the manager doesn't care or the cleaning people don't. HORRIBLE SERVICE. HORRIBLE HOTEL. especially for $400 a night. WILL NEVER BE COMING BACK!!! ruined our entire weekend. extremely disappointed. & apparently this is normal according to the reviews. read more

I want to honestly give this place credit where credit is due. Decent location and spacious suit. But that's about it. Currently we are celebrating our honeymoon in this hotel and I will say this is better than a motel 6 or a red roof in. However when you book a suit in a hotel such as a Marriott you would expect a lot more for the price. Something important I'd like to add is that the washing machines are just disrespectful and worse than a local laundry mat. I went to get cash out of the ATM (because these machines only use coins and are not able to accept any other form of payment) where I was charged to use only to be told by the front desk that they cannot give me change. We ended up washing our clothes in the sink and hang drying them. 1. The room had black mold all over it 2. Three live outlets were exposed 3. The room was unclean and dust was all over the furniture 4. The bathroom had black mold and unfinished drywall 5. The shower was so gross The house keeping was very helpful in providing us with fresh linens and towels however due to the demand in housekeeping we had to purchase cleaning supplies from a local CVS to clean our room. NOTHING in this hotel was complimentary if you want a bottle of water it is marked up so your better off just leaving the premises. WiFi is $13 a day! So again you'll have to get that elsewhere or be subjected to this crap. When contacting the front desk they were unable to find another suit so we just sucked it up and stayed in the suit. Again I'd expect this from a low end hotel chain however when you spend almost $3k for a week in a suit you don't imagine something like this. I'd like to add this was me and my wife's honeymoon and we trusted the Marriott brand to be what we were looking for. Don't bother with a suite because the couch and the lounging furniture is incredibly stiff and poorly made I would compare it to a lower grade Ikea. The bed I must say was pretty nice, nothing amazing but pretty nice. If anything we will probably cancel our rewards program with Marriott and look to go with the Hilton as it looked a lot better read more

This location is at the end or beginning of the River (depends where you start or end). It is connected to the walkway towards all the shops and restaurants on the river so you can walk it. Wear comfortable shoes. Hotel looks like it's going through some renovations. Parking wasn't the prettiest and it does cost about 20 per night. Not unusual for spots like this nowadays. Like they say, nothing is free anymore, not even in Vegas! We checked in and upgraded to a suite with roll away beds. The room had a view of the river one side and then an patio on the other side that is inside facing overlooking the atrium of the hotel. Suite was a great size and fit us 5 ladies perfectly! Coffee at the cafe wasn't cheap and it wasn't the best but that's how hotels are. We didn't get a chance to try out the restaurants there as we ate at the restaurants on the river but should we visit again, we will definitely give it a try. read more

Very nice hotel. A little overpriced for everything but worth the stay. The hotel was in a great location. Didn't like the fact that there was a $40 per day charge to park. The gate was never closed, so you could just drive in. Able to take ferry for free across the river. Beds were comfy, the floor was quiet, and the room location was great. I could see the water. The room could have been cleaned better, the ice machine was broken on my floor, the fridge wasn't getting cold. Had to become a marriott member to get free wifi. Staff wasn't as friendly as expected. Other than those minor things, the hotel was great. I'm sure the response to this will be the same generic response posted on everyone review. read more

After over 1500 Marriott hotel nights at countless properties in developed and underdeveloped places around the world, I can attest this is THE WORST Marriott I have ever experienced. This is a woefully neglected property with filthy carpet, a bajillion coats of (horribly applied) paint trying to mask the aged and worn out halls, rooms and common spaces. The mattresses should have been burned a decade ago. The slider doors replaced with safe, properly working doors that correctly lock. The non-working AC makes guest and meeting rooms a miserable sweat box. Why this failure of a hotel still bears a Marriott logo is beyond me. A Motel 6 or decrepit Howard Johnson's would be a more pleasant experience. There's are dozens of excellent hotel choices in downtown Savannah. THIS IS NOT ONE OF THEM! read more

First time staying here. Check in process was quick and easy, guy at desk was kinda friendly. I went to my room and it was very nice. I then went down and got something to eat. My waitress was friendly and made some great recommendations. The gumbo was very good and the apple dessert was also good. At checkout the lady behind the desk was very friendly. She asked if I got the check in gift the night before which I had not, then gave me one. I would definitely stay here next time in town. read more

They have tables right outside your bedroom windows so you will have zero privacy if you like sunlight. I have to have sunlight or I feel claustrophobic. Excellent location on the water. You can walk right out the back doors and be on River Street or on the ferry within minutes. This was my first non work related stay at this location. Previous stays were prior to the renovation. The staff that worked the front desk and answered calls went above and beyond for us during this stay. Even though the hotel was completely full, we received personalized service as if we were the only customers here. The renovation is not quite complete, but you can request an updated room. The updated rooms are really nice. The furniture is modern, including the light fixtures, and art. The bathroom has modern glass door shower. Our room had a partial city/river view, but it was great. We could look out on the water ans see a little of what was going on in the surrounding area. read more

Nice riverfront views in Savannah. I enjoyed going out on the hotel terrace and viewing the riverboats during my stay. It's a peaceful location away from all of the noise in downtown Savannah city center. My room overlooked the hotel atrium so it did get a bit noisy as they were setting up for a wedding. I believe this hotel has been recently renovated and the decor is beautiful! The location is also fantastic- right on the water! For this, I highly recommend the hotel for a visit to Savannah. Reasoning for 3 stars- Maybe I have become accustomed to above and beyond but I stay at a lot of Marriott properties and typically am greeted with a bottle of water, a cookie, and sometimes a water in the room. Upon arrival, check in was fine but again I'm just used to more. When I went into my room, the toilet was not cleaned. We also had very slow service down in the bar. My friend and I had traveled to Savannah from Oktoberfest, and planned to hit the ground running right as we touched down. We checked in late (after 6pm), took our things up to the room and hit the Riverfront. THANK GOODNESS we decided to go back to the room and freshen up before going out on a nighttime tour we'd scheduled, because to our surprise we found a letter under the door that said the water to the entire hotel would be out starting from 10 (or 11pm) until 5am. Then after 5 the water could possibly be brown and need time to flush out. At first we tried to rationalize this, saying ok, no biggie, shower in the morning. But as we thought about it.. this wasn't going to WORK. We'd not be able to shower, use the restroom, wash our hands, brush our teeth, NOTHING for the majority of our stay. We didn't plan to be back and in the bed by 11pm. And if you've walked the riverfront, drinking, being outside, enjoying OKTOBERFEST activities, I think you'd want a shower. We called down to ask what can be done, why they hadn't told us at check-in, especially since we'd arrived so late. The front desk employees didn't know what we were talking about, and though the person I spoke with sounded empathetic, she offered no solution or compensation of any kind. Not even a call from the manager. Long story short we checked out and almost got push back about it. No one even attempted to save the business, apologize for not keeping us informed, or help us make last minute arrangements in staying at maybe at a sister property. It was almost 9pm, and we were out in the cold, with out an accommodating place to stay, and almost missing a tour we paid for. I thought they should have done WAY better in handling this issue. I also thought it was weird that none of the staff were informed or ready to handle all concerns regarding this. Even after completing the Marriott survey, I got an email from the General Manager, I suppose, that said (paraphrasing, but I can show you... the email, it sucked), "Sorry about your experience with us, but my manager let you check out of the hotel without any consequence or having to pay, so we did what we were supposed to do." I hope all goes well on your stay.. but this really made me rethink how I choose my hotel. Brand loyalty, maybe not so much.
