This is a very nice boutique hotel in Savannah. It is a few blocks from all the historic shops, restaurants and bars, but only about a 10 minute walk to get just about anywhere you want to go in Savannah. They also have a free golf cart shuttle that goes to four popular areas; however it's last trip is 9:45 pm. If you plan on being out late, you are going to have to either walk back to the hotel or get an Uber. (I wouldn't recommend walking alone near the hotel late at night though.....it's not the quaint tourist area on that block.) The hotel offers a digital key for check in which we did as we were driving there. We were also able to select our own room. Then we had no need to stop by the front desk and we used our phone for the key and easily entered our room. This was great although the next day when I stopped by the desk. the woman at the front desk gave me actual keys and my digital phone key did not work after that. The room was very spacious with a big, comfy bed and a L-shaped couch. Everything was very clean. We had a mini fridge and a mini microwave and the bathroom had all of the amenities in it. The hotel is only 3 floors and we had a big picture window; unfortunately the view is basically the parking lot and the gas station next door. I wish they would have had a pool at the hotel because it was in the 90s every day while we were there. It would've been nice to go for a swim and cool off. The hotel did have bicycles that you could borrow to ride around town however we did not use them , there wasn't a gym, but we did have access to a full gym about a half a mile away. I went to the gym,, and it literally had just about everything you would want to use, and it was a piece of cake visiting just using my room key. They had fruit infused water in the lobby which was very nice. There is also a lobby bar and a small restaurant that was open for breakfast. If you are a Hilton Honors member you get a $15 credit per person that can be used for the breakfast buffet, ($15.99,) a continental breakfast, (I think around $6 or $7,) or drinks/snacks from the pantry. My husband had the buffet and there was a good assortment of hot and cold breakfast items. He enjoyed it. I used my part of the credit to get a few Diet Cokes from the pantry. The staff at the front desk was always very helpful, and the concierge was knowledgeable and gave us many suggestions for things to do since it was our first visit to the area. We used the free shuttle one night, and the driver was friendly and offered honest dining suggestions as well. There was plenty of free parking, (a rarity these days,) and once we parked our car on a Friday afternoon we didn't need to move it again until our departure 2 days later. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Bluff Savannah Historic Hotel and would recommend it to others visiting the area.

This hotel is located in a more residential area of Savannah. If you're looking for a more quiet stay than this is perfect. The hotel is near the river, so it's a short walk to River Street. The hotel is pretty. 3 floors and the room is spacious. There is a bar downstairs that opens at 5 and breakfast is included with the room. We had a great stay here and would definitely return again.

It's nice!! Sad we're only here for one night.

Sadly we only spent one night in this lovely hotel. The rooms are very large, inviting, and very comfortable with a bed I did not want to get out of. The lobby is decorated with beautiful photographs and art celebrating the city of Savannah. They offer a free courtesy shuttle to take you to nearby places in the city. Check in was very hospitable and they even gave me a small gift bag. Complementary breakfast was served in the lobby and the selection was decent. My kids love the make your own waffle iron. I only have one small complaint, there is a lovely cocktail lounge in the lobby which is supposed to be open from 4pm. I kept checking but never saw anyone working behind the bar, so sadly, no cocktails for me. We had to be up very early the next day to head home, so maybe that was for the best ;-).

I tend to disagree with most yelp ratings on hotels, but the current 4.5 star rating here @ THE BLUFF HOTEL seems to be spot on! Admittedly, I'm not overly picky with hotels, so if YOU are, pay this review no mind. On my rating scale, a long as a hotel covers the basics (location, clean, comfy, friendly, decent décor) I'm generally happy. However, while I've been the one to book most of our accommodations for the past 2 decades, my wife has been in charge as of late and has been upgrading our typical experience. I'm starting to think she's trying to tell me something! LOL *** THE BLUFF HOTEL is a charming boutique hotel offered as part of the Choice Hotel Group Ascend Collection. This particular location is a renovated Comfort Suites. They replaced the old indoor pool with a fancy schmancy bar/lounge area and all the rooms were heavily upgraded to a sleek modern décor. It truly is a very nice looking hotel that I could get used to visiting more often (don't tell my wife)! OUR 390 sqft QUEEN STUDIO consisted of two Queen Beds and a sofa sectional, 55 inch flat-screen television, sleek desk with storage and an in-room coffee maker and mini-fridge. The bathroom was a delight with glass barn doors on the large shower and a backlit mirror. The beds were crazy comfortable and the cable TV selection was better than average. I'm the type who likes to fall asleep to a good movie, so this was a pleasant bonus for me. NOTE: I'm not sure of the other floors, but our first floor room had VERY TALL ceilings, making the room feel even more spacious. LOCATION was in view of the Talmadge Memorial Bridge on the West end of the Bay Street strip. A five minute walk to River Street or City Market was fairly effortless, as we decided to bypass the hotel shuttle. BREAKFAST was fairly standard for more budget friendly hotels with items such as yogurt, oatmeal, fruit, bagels, scrambled and boiled eggs, sausage, make-your-own waffles, DELICIOUS pastries and juice. The Musgrove Breakfast Room is small, but if it happened to get crowded guests could spill over into the gorgeous speakeasy lounge area connected via French doors. PARKING was an additional cost as are most of the hotels in Savannah's Historic District. STAFF was very friendly and we were extremely appreciative of the manager accommodating us after discovering emotional support dogs are not allowed. EVERYTHING was booked and we had no other nearby options. Thankfully our well behaved fur baby is only 10lbs and very quiet. AGAIN, very very appreciative they gave us a one time grace. *** HISTORY - According to their website, The Bluff Hotel sits on the historic Yamacraw Bluff, where General James Oglethorpe and British colonists aboard the ship Anne landed on February 12, 1733. It is here that Yamacraw Chief Tomochichi and Governor Oglethorpe established a peaceful alliance and ratified the historic Creek Indian Treaty of 1733, allowing for Governor Oglethorpe to settle the colony of Savannah which is now one of the most historic cities in the United States. *** [ FINAL THOUGHTS ] I say that I tend to disagree with most yelp reviews on hotels because yelpers can be EXTREMELY picky and brutal on ratings (compared to hotel site reviews). But I totally agree with the current 4.5 star rating here. THE BLUFF HOTEL is a hidden gem just slightly off the beaten path. I would stay here again and again and again if given the choice. I actually enjoyed the fact they aren't directly in the high congestion areas of Bay Street. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! 2021 / 110

This place is a gem!Convenient, clean and quiet. It used to be a Comfort Inn. It looks like it was recently overhauled. They did a nice job. The decor all throughout is modern and simple.A nice feature is the high ceilings in the rooms!Makes it feel so spacious!!! The room was clean and comfortable.Wi-Fi was okay. They have self parking which was a main reason I chose to stay here. The daily parking rates were reasonable as well. It's on the outer edge of the historic district but still walkable. They advertise a free local shuttle but I didn't see any evidence of it,nor did I ask about it. The one downside is that there's no restaurant on site and their grab and go options are very minimal so plan ahead for food snacks and last minute needs. There is a CVS that's about a 10 minute walk though. I look forward to my next stay there!

Long time Diamond member with the choice brand so I decided to splurge a bit and found this location to stay a few nights with my wife @ First impressions are pretty good I must say. The lobby is pretty sharp with some very cool old pictures of Savannah. Check in was super fast. Parking isn't free $10 for being a Diamond member but I believe normal price is $20 per night . I was supposed to have a king suite but was placed in a regular king room. I'll be calling Choice customer service over that because I actually payed extra to have the suite ‍. So far it's a nice place to stay and the bed is super comfy . I was told there's slim pickings due breakfast due to Covid so we will see

The staff was very accommodating throughout our stay. Being that I lived in Savannah 20 years ago, I have bragged about how incredible Savannah's hospitality is and the staff here definitely showed up. Huge thank you to Joey, Jackie, Cindi, and Darnell or as I refer to them as the dream team for making our stay so incredible. I hope they promote you all into management. Our room was absolutely beautiful and comfortable. Honestly, one of the best beds I have ever slept on. Perfect if you have jet lag. I love that the toiletries have peppermint so you repeal bugs, which is a must in the south. Great alternative if you forget the bug spray. There's a coffee bar, restaurant, and a speakeasy bar that was Alice and wonderland themed. In the afternoon you are offered champagne, which is such a nice touch. They have bikes available to sightsee rather than walking. This hotel is close to everything in case you want to walk and explore shops, dining, etc. Overall, this hotel is beautifully decorated and charming. Something Savannah is known for. I highly recommend this hotel. Especially because it's pet friendly!

This is my second review. I originally removed my first post after management reached out to…read moreresolve the situation, but after a continuous cycle of shifting timelines and misleading information, I feel compelled to share the full experience. My AirPods were stolen by the staff here on the 17th. While I finally recovered them on the 29th, it was entirely due to my own efforts, not the hotel's. I had to file a police report and track the devices on the Find My app, watching them travel to a private residence before making their way back to the hotel days later. Getting answers from management was incredibly difficult. I was repeatedly promised callbacks--first at 3:00 PM, then at 4:00 PM--only to be completely ghosted for an entire day. Management only took the situation seriously after I posted my initial negative review. Once the review was live, the interim manager called immediately, offering 20k Hilton points as a goodwill gesture and claiming it would cover a night at "most places." Wanting to cooperate and focus on getting my property back, I agreed to take the review down. The poor communication continued with the shipping process. Management promised to overnight my AirPods the next morning, but the Find My tracking showed the AirPods still at the hotel until I followed up yet again to ask why it hadn't been dropped off at FedEx. It has now been a week since the points were promised, and they still have not arrived. When I followed up, the interim manager claimed the system takes two days to process them - meaning the request was never actually submitted when promised last weekend. Furthermore, the information provided about the loyalty program was incorrect: I was told the points do not expire, but Hilton corporate policy states they expire after 24 months of inactivity. The valuation is also incredibly misleading; 20k points does not cover a night at "most places," especially considering a single night at this exact property costs 66k points. While the staff member Michael was pleasant to deal with, the interim management team simply said whatever was necessary to get a negative review removed, with zero genuine follow-through. I highly advise travelers to keep a close eye on their belongings and be wary of management's promises.

You can hear your neighbors :) It's crazy how the elevator was being serviced DURING BREAKFAST one morning and everyone had to use the stairs. It was especially bad because someone in my party needed to use a walker due to their bad knees. We had to carry the walker up and down the stairs and they were literally crawling to go up and down. I asked one of the male staff about it in the front desk and they said that there was nothing they can do and that the elevators will be both back up at 8:30 AM. We went out and took a stroll, came back around 9:00 AM and the elevators were not yet fixed. It was just ridiculous! Later on in the day, they managed to get ONE of the elevators working :) The next morning, we went to breakfast at 7 AM and everything is broken! Only one elevator is working, there is no coffee at all, no pancakes, and even the juice machine got hit! It was honestly insane. If you go on vacation, just go somewhere else.

We were pleased with room placement with balcony in furthest east Bldg (3Muses). We were advised water-facing rooms can be noisy. On that note, by the third and final night, Friday, this past weekend, we learned that the cobblestone street outside was quite noisy as well. Fortunately, on weekend, just after midnight, revelry noise level moves down from the billiard Halls across from our room. (Ear plugs were furnished in the room :-) Even so, we enjoyed the balcony for the mornings and pre-dinner hour: it was ambience into our room as we were getting ready for our various comings/goings. The medium-ish sized pool featured brrrrr water; not yet nuked by summer's power! But it was enjoyable for a refresh. It got unbelievably crowded on Friday afternoon, so glad we generally came earlier in the day. Fortunately my work Conference: buffet style food supplied by JW was above-average, 4* food for Conference food (3* if judged on its own merit). But we enjoyed the on-site dining from which we tried small plates from the African restaurant, fish at the seafood bar outside the main building; my wife enjoyed the breakfast dishes from the coffee shop in the main building. This is a special property. Enjoy the artwork and the unique character of each building. So much to see as meandering. Friendly Service top to bottom. I would think that quiet hours for the pool would be 9 PM, but apparently they aren't. I believe they are 10 PM. There was a group of what appeared to be teenagers screaming nonstop for about three hours straight. I don't know, if I was staff at a hotel, I would probably tell them to keep it down after 8 PM, but that's just me. It sounds like the rooms on the other side of the hotel are really noisy as well, so I guess moving and wouldn't have done much. The valet took a really long time in the morning. I wouldn't have minded that if they would have told us in the beginning, but when you check in, they tell you to give them five minutes to retrieve your vehicle. It took the guy 20 minutes to respond to my request (I was first in the queue) and I had to go walk down and grab the car myself because I needed to leave immediately. It sounds like he was managing two properties, so not his fault. When not knowing where the valet was, the front desk wasn't helpful. She kind of dismissed the issue. She did end up calling him, but she didn't act like she cared about our situation at all in the beginning. It actually prompted us to take action and another gentleman waiting for his car went and looked in the valet garage to see if somebody was even there because he was having the same issues. After staying here, it's clear nothing has actually changed, which is disappointing. I was on the 5th floor facing Bay Street, which turns out to be a major truck route near the interstate. The AC unit was loud, so I turned it off since it was cool outside. That's when the real issue became obvious. There's a traffic light right by the hotel, so trucks constantly stop, idle, and then accelerate again. The noise was incredibly loud, to the point where it felt like I was standing right on the sidewalk. Sleeping was difficult. It also made me wonder about room assignments. If this has been a known issue for years, you'd think they'd avoid placing guests with status in those rooms. A quieter-facing room would have made a big difference. There were a few other issues: * Couldn't access the pool or jacuzzi with the digital key (only the gym worked) * The jacuzzi itself looked worn and in need of refinishing * No complimentary water in the room or lobby, which is surprising given the Savannah heat (though there were cookies and coffee downstairs) * Toilet seat was oddly shaped and uncomfortable * Bedside lamp outlets were loose and didn't hold a charger securely * The clock on the nightstand was extremely bright at night with no way to dim it On the positive side, the lobby has a nice fireplace, and I appreciated the bathroom nightlight. All the staff I encountered seemed very young, under 30, which made me wonder if most roles here are entry-level. I couldn't help but notice a consistent pattern in who was working which positions, while visiting the south. Overall, the biggest issue is the noise and the lack of real action on something that's been raised repeatedly over the years.
