Hugo came out within 24 hours to give me a very reasonable quote on removing some hedges. His team came out within a day or 2 and did all the work at an amazing speed! They had those ugly hedges gone for good and my front yard has never looked better! They cleaned everything up and even mowed the lawn! 100% would recommend! We bought a second car and needed to have a curb cut and patch job done on our driveway fairly quickly to accomodate the additional car. We also wanted to repair the cracked sidewalk and put in a short walkway. Because of the required curb cut, the city of Newton gave us a list of bonded contractors and said we should use one of them. However, our job was so small I could not get any of them to do it, or their price was so high (it needed to be "worth it to them" to come out) it was out of our reach. I noticed Marquense on Yelp and thought I would give them a try. Jugo was responsive and came out immediately to give me a quote and assure me they could do a great job for us. They purchased the required bond and worked with the city to get the correct permitting in place. They were on site when they said they would be and were clean and efficient, and even cleared out some brush and removed all my leaves, saving us a ton of time and work. They were also extremely fair and I found their price to be very reasonable in comparison to the other companies I spoke with. I would recommend Marquense without reservation for any sort of landscaping/driveway/sidewalk work. Truly a pleasure to work with them. We hired Hugo and his crew in April to do a spring clean up and mulch at our new home. He came to evaluate the same day I called and had his crew working by that evening. It was such a relief after calling for quotes from multiple landscaping services that were expensive and hard to get a hold of. Hugo is thoughtful and kind. He made suggestions for landscape improvement while complimenting what we had. Ultimately, we hired Hugo to completely overhaul our overgrown yard. The crew identified a sick tree, removed it and ground the stump. They reseeded and fertilized our lawn, removed overgrown plants and weeds, mulched, removed hardscaping and cemented-in laundry drying racks, and finally they designed and installed a beautiful patio. Hugo and his crew have changed my life. I have a narrow, difficult driveway, and several other snow plow companies had told me they couldn't do it with their equipment. I dreaded snowstorms and the hours of shoveling it meant. Then I met Hugo, and all of a sudden I don't hate winter. His crew shows ups, and they not only plow my driveway but shovel all the sidewalks and stairs. They are quick, courteous, and thorough, and I never have to think about it. His landscape service has also been great. They come once a week in the summer and do a basic mow and blow, but Hugo has also been wonderful about adding little extras -- seeding the lawn, or pruning bushes. And in the fall, they do all the leaf cleanup. They are just fabulous -- great people, honest, friendly, and complete. And his prices are great. Thumbs up! read more

I am a new client of Marquense. During the recent snowstorm known as the Blizzard of 2013, I got nervous. Not for the reasons you would expect; it was because this was the first snowstorm that I had to admit to myself that I had reached the age that I could no longer do this myself, take care of myself. My anxiety proved groundless as along they came, shoveled me out beautifully proving my nervousness to be totally unfounded. We have used Marquense Inc both for snow removal and landscaping. They always give a fair price, and they are prompt and courteous. For snow removal, they come early in the morning to clear all of the paths and the driveway, so we've never had a problem getting out of the house in the morning. I got Marquense Landscape contact information from my neighbor's landscape project they did a few years ago. Hugo gave me a very reasonable quote for my driveway expansion (after quite extensive search) since my one-car driveway was no longer enough. It was a challenging project involving a lot of difficult concrete breaking and excavation in a narrow space between my house and neighbor's property. Hugo's team then built retaining walls and laid paver. The end results, I couldn't be happier. The retaining is elegantly stepped with slightly slopped paver (my town's bylaw exempt building permit for wall no higher than 4'). The guys were absolutely dedicated to their work, attention to tiniest details such as cutting paver bricks to fit the edges. Got a lot complements from walk by neighbor I didn't deserve but Hugo's guys did. Hugo is a perfectionist and super easy to work with. During the construction, I asked them to expanded the scope of the work (such as connected retaining pipes with house downspout, again great work at small extra cost). Later on, I just added additional work such as clean of construction debris under the porch left by former owner. Highly recommended for great job at reasonable cost. read more

We hired Marquense Landscape to do a last minute clean up before the snow. Hugo responded quickly and gave me detailed estimate and then completed the work the next day. The crew of 5 workers arrived on time, were polite and efficient. I was impressed with the quality of their work as well as the good communication and timely service. When they left I noticed that they picked up my yard waste bags that the garbage company did not collect yet. Hugo and his men have helped me out over the years in so many ways I can not thank him enough or recommend his company more highly. His men have cut trees down, planted bushes, maintained our landscape, put in two different rock walls and a brick walkway, is our snow removal company, has helped us move and even relocated a fence from one property to another. Hugo and his crew from Marquense are a godsend to our condo association. As another reviewer mentioned, he is one of the few providers who will tackle the narrow driveways so typical in city condo situations -- our 4-unit building is surrounded by a U-shaped driveway and parking area with not a lot of space to put the snow. Hugo's crew finds a way to make it work even after the many, many snowstorms we've had this winter. They called me back within 24 hours of leaving a message, came out and gave me an estimate that day, which was very reasonable based on other estimates I had gotten, and did a wonderful job putting in a patio for me in a difficult area of my yard.
