This Ace Hardware store is much more than a hardware store! I don't really ever come here for home improvement type of things like tools and paint -- which they always seem to be pretty well stocked on. I actually come here because within the store, you'll find a whole array of kitchen items and gadgets tucked away in a little corner. Growing up, I remember it used to be stocked with THE cutest Christmas items and decorations. I can't remember when the transition to kitchen goods happened, but adult me thinks it's great, lol. There are small appliances, high-quality knife selections, wooden utensils and plating, pots, pans, decorations and basically all the essentials that you would need for your home kitchen! You can also find some things here that you wouldn't normally find in other stores like an Ooni pizza oven, Japanese knives, and pretty tea sets. The ladies behind the counter are always so nice and helpful. On my last visit I was looking for items for an event and while I didn't find everything I needed, I found some cute bamboo tongs that were priced very reasonably. Other than the hardware, definitely stop in here sometime if you're looking for some kitchen goods too or maybe insulated Yeti bottles which line the wall at the entrance. read more

FALSE LEADING PEOPLE TO THIS STORE IS ILLEGAL! It's pretty stupid to advertise something on the ALAMAHA ACE HARDWARE website location when an item is not available to purchase (but shows plenty in stock). When you arrive to the store they tell you, "oh I don't know, the manager sells it, I don't know what time the manager arrives, he sells a little bit at a time." If that's the case, why does this store advertise on the website "available to purchase in store" if they're going to discriminate and decide who they want to sell to? False leading people into a store is ILLEGAL when the product isn't even available to purchase. False ADVERTISEMENT & WASTE OF TIME. Marmac Ace Hardware - Hardware Stores Near Me - Kahului, Hawaii

I've only been to this Ace Hardware Store a few times. Living in Kihei, I already have an Ace nearby with helpful hardware folks. If I'm driving into town, I'll usually go to Home Depot or Lowes and get what I need. But, I'd been driving around with my somewhat defective 3/8" ratchet wrench sitting in the console. It has the brand "Craftsman" proudly displayed on the handle in raised letters. Craftsman hand tools have a lifetime guarantee. If they break, return them to a store that sells them and they are supposed to replace it. This one slips a cog or two when you give it a good tug and I've banged my knuckles because of that little surprise. I expect better. Originally, Craftsman hand tools were sold exclusively at Sears. The tools are decent quality, but not indestructible. I've returned plenty to Sears and left with replacements with no problem. Ace became authorized dealers of Craftsman hand tools years ago. I haven't had any problems with exchanges at other Ace locations, as long as there are exact replacements available. That is, until I came to the Marmac Ace Hardware Store. My visit didn't start well. The woman behind the counter shouted at me that I couldn't come in here. OMG, I forgot to put on my mask. Not intentionally breaking a cardinal rule, just not thinking of it. Thanks for calling me out so loudly. Turns out that this Ace really isn't the place with the helpful hardware folks. When I asked for a replacement for my broken ratchet wrench, I was shown the wall of hand tools and told to pick out what I wanted. When I clarified that I wanted a warranty replacement, I got the big stink eye. Like I was wanting to steal something. I was instructed to take the matter up with a Craftsman tool distributor. Normally, the store would make the exchange and then deal with their distributor. It's called "customer service". They couldn't tell me how to contact the Craftsman distributor, either. So, I left with my broken hand tool that is guaranteed for life. read more

BIG thank you to Sofia who helped me go through the pesticide treatments to see if there was anything for drugstore beetles. (I bought pasta in a box from Safeway with the little bu*$#ers in and it infected my pantry). Unfortunately there wasn't as HI can't ship in the chemical I was looking for, however, Sofia and I read all the labels to see if there was a product that would help. Every time I have wandered into this store I have been greeted immediately and asked if I need help, which 9/10 I do. A staff member will either walk me over or tell me the aisle and get a staff member there pronto. This is good old fashioned service and I really appreciate it. Most Ace stores on island offer good customer service, but Marmac Ace is the best! read more

I was on the hunt for a bathtub spout. Along with the big box stores, I came here to see what they offered. THE STORE: Located in the Kahului Industrial Park, they've been here ever since I can remember. Parking is limited and the inside are quarters tight, filled to the brim with hardware and household inventory. Sadly the small attached shop that used to be called Maureen's Gifts & Christmas closed up years ago. They, along with the now defunct Liberty House, used to sell Department 56 holiday ceramic pieces which I'm a collector of. EXPERIENCE: Unfortunately, their bath hardware accessory selection was less than the big boys, as expected. But, at least I can say I tried to support local! On the positive, what they don't offer in retail is made up for by their service. I was wandering down the aisle and a friendly woman asked if I needed any assistance, personally escorting me to the area. Try getting that at the "orange" or "blue" big box stores! While they had a few offerings, I needed just the spout, not the entire combination of shower head and handles, so nothing was purchased. TIP: Key cutting service is available here. 5 stars for a chain hardware store? Yeah. Yup! I was dreading going to a hardware store, but I was planning on backpacking up Haleakala, and I needed some fuel for my stove. I decided to head here first thing, as soon as I arrived. I was in and out in a snap (it's right next to the airport) and the service was outstanding! So much Aloha! Been to this location a couple of times. It hidden next to a resturant , goodwill and tractor supply store. Also has a boutique store I. The back We didn't buy anything from ace this time. Couldn't find when he was looking for. But I did peruse the boutique store for some kitchen supplies and cute Christmas decorations. Looking early for some Christmas gifts. They have wine glasses and nic nacks. Home decorations and A lot of unique cute gifts for mom! The store in size is tiny and I took my time looking around. There were quite a few kitchen items like BBB type store. The staff was friendly and greeted me. But also gave me space to look around the store without hovering. Whenever we come here we always receive excellent service from the time you walk in you're greeted with a hello and welcome. Today was another day we walked in and I noticed a sign that said that do cup keys for your cars so I was like hey let's check that out, I kinda figured it was only to do with a battery and sure enough it was. Lyn helped us she changed it without a problem. She's always so nice and helpful. Im glad they have an employee like her. It's truly helpful. This little hardware store rocks. So much packed into a small space by today's standards. Very knowledgeable staff will know exactly where to find what you want. You can get keys cut here and they are very prompt. Seems like there is always a parking spot by the store. Sometimes you just don't feel like getting your exercise at a big box store when you just need one or two quick things. These guys have stood the test of time, and continue to thrive in the hardware business despite a lot of competition. The downside is that they may not carry what you need due to a more limited selection. read more

Went there yesterday (Saturday) to find a hard to find (apparently) item. Jacob helped me out. He really, really knew his stuff. Accurately guessed (at a glance) the size and length of the item I had. Told him what and how the part was for, and off we went. Searched high and low for an exact match. Too long, too short, or wrong fittings everywhere. Finally found our closest match, and cut it down to size for me. Jacob is the type of guy more companies NEED. Knowledgeable, friendly, and knew their inventory!!! I avoid the Maui Lani location because the staff is HORRIBLE there, and avoid the Alamaha location because I thought of them as being bad because of association. Ace is the place that has knowledgeable staff that is very helpful and can give you hints on how to make repairs. The location in Kahului was not hard to find, they have a pretty extensive selection for such a small place. We got all we needed to make small home repairs. read more

My first visit to Marmac Ace was 22 years ago we had just started a business cleaning and Maintenance, In Kihei. I found lots of items at the store that I could not locate at the Hardware stores. In fact at the time there were not many hardware stores open. I found many products at the time made by Inter Design, Towel racks, soap dishes also screen door parts, toilet parts, etc. etc. I still today find myself going back to Marmac Ace once or twice a month to locate items I cannot find else where or just to look around. Interesting visit today. I thought they were closed (it was alittle after 12pm) but i saw 2 vehicles parked in front. And an "open" sign still shown. Walked in and 4 employees at the front. I was looking for potting soil and asked the cashier if there was any sales going on. She looked through the flyer, then called out to the other worker about the soil. (Couldn't tell if this worker was a she or a he) Though this worker's back was towards us" and at close hearing distance, it simply did not hear its name being called. Even being signaled by the headset, it gave no attention to me or the cashier. The cashier's last attempt was pointing at this worker's back and told me "this is the one to talk to". In a split second, that worker (still has back facing both of us) quickly left the area and disappeared. Seemed a bit awkward..... did it not want to work today? Did it have a moment of "Oops, I Crapped My Pants"? Was it actually hearing impaired? Did it not respect the cashier? Or did it have something against asian-american customer? When it disappeared, a young employee hesitantly asked if i needed help. I started to say no thank you, but then I took his offer and asked him about potting soil they have. He assisted me with my inquiries and had shown better customer service than what first played out with the cashier and "it". Ive known this location of many years and made purchases for personal and business needs. I guess nowadays, you may just need to know what you need without anyone's help. And just cash out. (Ps. I had a few things to fix around my home and needed several items so I went to Lowe's thinking I could everything at once. WRONG. Not only did they not have 2 things I needed, but it took 37 minutes to find someone who was willing to help. But then-------- FAST FORWARD TO MARMAC ACE HARDWARE in Kehalani Village. OMGoodness! They not only invented the words CUSTOMER SERVICE but every single employee at the store lives it. Everyone was so helpful from the cashiers to the department specialists. AMAZING! They went out of their way to help with large and manini things and I got everything I needed. One of the staff even went and personally measured a screen that I couldn't get to fit, after they resized for me twice previously. You just don't get SERVICE like this anymore. I purchased a Komodo grill they got it here in two weeks and delivered it, all I had to do is make a phone call. Shawnee is amazing she gets on it and boom all taken care of.... exactly how service should be. The price was exactly same as on the mainland... no gouging... a pleasant surprise. Will be happy to call them for any of that hard to get stuff.... they are friendly and know their subject matter. Just know if you order the ceramic grill be willing to help when they arrive as they weigh 200 plus lbs... but they delivered on time no charge .... where does that happen any more?... so glad to be able to be positive regarding a local family owned business. One of the only places on Maui with butane fuel canisters that will work with our Jetboil stove for backpacking. Tried the Ace in Kihei, Sports Authority and Walmart in Kahului, and this was the only place to get these. Great customer service too! read more

This is the best locally owned hardware store in Kahului. I try here first for everything before Home Depot or Lowes. They've got an incredible amount of inventory and very helpful staff. I'm sorry to say that I usually only yelp if a business or restaurant is disappointing because I figure that most people yelp good things but when I look on Yelp I want to know why I shouldn't patronize the business. But in this exception I want people to know about the excellent customer service that I've recently encountered at this Maui Marmac Ace Hardware store. It all started with me looking for a "gasket" for my shower head and instead I found a jewel of a saleswoman (wish I got her name)! Unlike most hardware stores where salesclerks walk the other way or pretend to look very busy when a customer is in their aisle, this woman approached me!! I explained that I was looking for a "gasket" for my leaking shower head and instead of making me feel foolish she asked me to point out to her from their display the type of hose for which I needed the "washer". As it turned out, I didn't need a "gasket" but a "washer" (don't ask me where I got the term "gasket)!! Problem solved! Not only did I get the "washer", I also found the same shower head!! Funny, because at a certain hardware store in Kailua, Oahu, the salesman told me that my shower head was replaced by another model!! But lo and behold, on Maui, there it was!! I'm going back this week to Maui and I'm going to buy 2 more shower heads and get the name of the saleswoman. Thank you Marmac Ace Hardware, Maui, you made my day or should I say, shower!!! This review is for the gas station portion of the store. I just received the worst possible customer service of my life. First I was having trouble using my debit card because I guess I was entering my zip code wrong, even though I entered twice and I checked it. After that I figured I would just use a different card, an AMEX... They don't accept AMEX, I realized that after I slid it through. So the lady outside in the little box thing had to cancel my transactions. I understand it might be frustrating for her so, I just walked up and I said "I'm sorry I don't know whats wrong with my debit card, can I just pay with cash" (while holding a 5 dollar bill in my hand). She replied "YEAH its saying that your zip code is wrong, that is something you need to call your bank about. It's a debit card... You know your pin don't you? Why don't you just press the debit button." me "I didn't see the button, I just slide my card, can I just pay with cash?" Her "Its there, you know your pin umber don't you. Press the debit button and enter your pin". She is saying all of this, with EXTREME ATTITUDE!!!!! All the while I am standing outside holding my 5 dollar bill in my hand and its raining. I just wanted to say to her "Just take my god dam money lady" , but I didn't. They have lost a customer FOR LIFE!!! read more
