Marlene Joyce is a fairly decent little store situated along the main shopping street of Crossgates, just opposite the main arcade. I hadn't really paid much attention to what they had on offer as I wandered on in and it wasn't until I'd gotten half way around that I realised what I was in for! Of course, Marlene Joyce caters mostly for children. Doh!
The shop has a distinctly market feel to it, with the hand penned fluorescent decals highlighting the bargains and the hangers avec garments hung all about the place. There was very little space left blank - every possibly area had some item or other on display so the shop is very much full to burst with clothes and other bits!
They had loads of cheaply priced handy items for the kids, from shirts, socks, pants, skirts and more. The prices were super low, which I'm sure many a parent in the area must take advantage of, so for that alone I thought the place was really reasonable. They did have a few adult items inside, including tights, stockings, skirts, shirts and other staple garments - all again at really low prices. I wouldn't say much of the clothing was to my taste, in spite of the low prices, but then again you could certainly find worse elsewhere.
The staff seemed friendly and the shop was certainly well stocked so it is definitely worth popping in, certainly if you've children to clothe! read more
