You can literally get lost in a sea of clothing, and there is such a vast range that they are sure to have what you are looking for. The handbag section alone is about 6 aisles, with all the colours of the rainbow covered. My favourite items to look for are their dresses. They have so many quirky pieces that you will almost certainly find something unique. All of their stock is marked down designer clothing so that is another bonus - bargains galore! On the flip side, the vast array of choice can often be overwhelming. If you aren't in the mood/tired/in a rush, then this place can be as hellish as Primark to sift through. Too much choice and too many people. The other dark side to TK Maxx is once again, the designer clothing element. Whilst in a lot of cases it means that the unique brands are more affordable, it also means that the one item that you might fall in love with is something like £300 marked down from £500. Whilst a £200 saving is great, it's not so much if you only meant to spend £40 in the first place! So I have a love-hate relationship with TK Maxx. On so many occasions I have walked away with some really lovely, quirky and well made frocks. But then on a few occasions I have run out screaming (or, at least, briskly walked out tutting) with nothing.

Well, whenever I walk past Next's flagship store in central Manchester I imagine him ranting and chuckle out loud. It's not that Next is worse than other global brands, it's that this gigantic shop aims to sell everything idyllic couples and families could need from beds, comforters and lamps to dining tables, chairs, sofas and rugs. The majority of it looks bland and forgettable but the fact it's in neutral colours and restrained patterns means it probably flies out of the store. For those desperate to buy into the whole Next brand / lifestyle, there's also two floors devoted to casual, smart and evening womenswear, menswear and childrenswear. If I was the kind of girl that looked at catalogues and imagined buying a matching dress and kitchenware, I'd probably enjoy shopping here. As it is, I find it a soul-less and ungratifying experience. To paraphrase Tyler: "I say never be complete, I say stop being perfect, I say....let the chips fall where they may."

The bury branch is one of the better TK Maxx's that I have visited as they have a tendency to look messy and cramped making you have to root through things to locate something you may want which is always off putting to me. The stock is ever changing and unpredictable so if you see something you really want i'd advise you buy it there and then as chances are high it may not be there next time you visit. The Bury branch is quite spacious and bright and the main floorspace between the clusters of departments is fairly easy to navigate although the store lacks any real uniformity in it's layout so can be a little disorientating.

There's plenty of staff in the store, as you'd expect due to the size of the location and the queuing is handled reasonably well. The store's interior might be minimalistic and not the easiest on the eye, but it's still straight-forward to find what you're looking for if they have it available. Since the closure of Homesense in early 2023, there is an expanded home section in this store, although it is nowhere near the level that you'd have expected to find in the old store, but is still a nice addition. 3* - OK, not my first choice of fashion in the Arndale but a great brand to have in the mix, and not a bad store by any means.

Weekdays and evenings are usually quite quiet but be prepared to grab and keep hold of anything you like at weekends. Chances are if you wander round and go back for a second look, someone else will have snapped it up!
