It sells mainly baby clothes, and some very adorable ones at that (though I am a little biased as I am one of those (probably rather irritating) people who practically squeals in adoration at the mere clatter of a pram so I find anything approximating a baby-grow pretty adorable!) Some of the baby grows are padded to the max with detachable mittens to keep little baba toasty and warm even in our recently snowy climate...I actually rather wish they sold them in my size! They also have other baby grows of standard thickness and some rather more grown-up baby clothes...I actually find it rather creepy when a six month old baby boy wears a nicely ironed checked shirt and jeans and has his 3 hairs gelled in a side parting like a terrifying little man...but these clothes also go up to toddler sizes. There is also a tiny hoodie with the word 'skate' emblazoned across the chest...personally I think trying to make your baby look cool is most certainly not cool! Other clothing includes princess-style dresses for tiny baby dolls ...sorry... 'girls', hmm...also not particularly cool. It would make some sense maybe if she's a baby bridesmaid...I remember my little sister aged 10 months looking decidedly spherical and bored in a pink satin dress and matching headband at my aunt's wedding. Haha! The clothes here are very cheap at 2 or 3 pounds for tops or trousers and £9 for an amazing padded baby grow. Great for parents struggling to cope with the financial burden of a new child, though charity shops also often cater well for little ones.

I had three staff members tending to me and both my girlfriend and I were offered a complementary cappuccino! We were given a tour of all of the new items and the items were catered to what he (I didn't catch the employee's name) thought I liked based on what I was wearing. He was super friendly and helpful. We were really treated while trying out different pieces of clothing. It worked! I ended up purchasing a black hoodie (which fits me perfectly, is extremely comfortable and looks awesome), some new jeans (Razor type, I believe) and a super soft green pullover jumped. Two thumbs up to this designer. Note: This is the first Denham store in the UK! The designer is supposedly very highly regarded in the industry.

They school PE kit and accessories such as school bags. Alongside school uniform Jo Brand Junior sells occasion wear with formal dresses for girls and suits and waistcoats for boys. Although there are a rather daunting number of school uniforms to choose from, the shop is laid out in an organised way and all the products are clearly visible. The woman who works there seems friendly and helpful so you can expect good customer service if requiring help with sizes/styles. All parents of school-age children in Meanwood must be very grateful for the existence of this little shop so they don't have to travel further afield to get their kids kitted out for school.

Walt and his relatives have made plenty of brass out of me over the years, but I don't resent it, as small kidlets and big kidlets alike still light up when you chuck an oversized stuffed animal of film appropriate characters at them. It may be a sad fact but it is true. From the cashing in of the newborn babies super cute baby grows and birth momentos, to the ever so cute toddler clothes and pyjamas, right the way through to the themed character costumes, and then beyond this to Disney's selection of toys, stationary, trinkets and other cartoon gifts, this is a kid's dream store. Like I said, I've never failed to make a kidlet smile when packing various items in a Disney box, complete with Disney fairy dust, and just watch the excitement unravel. Granted this may be a tad indulgent, and many things are overpriced, especially the DVDs, but for treats of special occasion magnitude, then I think it's totally worth it. White Rose's offering may now be a bit out of the way than the convenience of the Commercial Street store, but it's got most of the same things, and the staff are super happy to help. A great selection of haberdashery..lovely ribbons and trims. A bargain bin with short pieces of amazing fabrics at about 8 pieces a £1. Some stunning jewellery as well and indian cosmetics and hennabindis, henna tattoos and I also stock up on incense. The huge emporium is a gleaming bazaar with rolls of silks in every possible shade. Racks of spangled shoes and sandals seem to come straight from Bollywood. Yet there are also racks of little girls' organdie dresses like those worn by Shirley Temple in the 1930s. Indeed, something about Bombay Stores is very comforting for English people: it is as if time has stood still. For the Asian community is a taste of home. There is order and calm, no pressure selling and plenty of space to wander from the boutique, selling Bollywood pop hits and videos, to the cafe, en route to the fabrics, suits and shoes. I always keep carrying armfuls of stuff to the checkout but now they have also devised a new idea. In fact there's so much that the only way to shop for larger goods is to browse the store and pick up tickets for each item that you want to purchase, and when you're done you go to the checkout, give in your tickets and all your items will be ready to pay for and collect. I bought a huge, thick fleecy throw for about £20 and everyone wants to steal itit is so soft and luxurious! The brains behind Bombay Stores is 68-year-old Abdul Kader, who came to Britain in 1957. He knew nobody, and started with nothing, but there were jobs. He worked on the London buses and in the Bradford mills. By 1963 he had bought his first business, a former fish and chip shop. His capital was only £100 and his wife, Maryam, worked long hours in the shop making dresses while he drove buses on a double shift to pay for the enterprise. He expanded to the present premises in Shearbridge Road in 1983. Today, annual turnover is £10m and he employs 70 workers. Very efficient and helpful service. They have a cafe for wonderful samosas, coffee and good western style kids meals too. Bombay Stores in Bradford not only sells fabrics that attract customers from all over the world, it also brings together a multicultural community. It is the UK's largest Asian department store. The wide range offers everything from simple plain white cotton to the most heavily embellished and luxurious satins perfect for wedding dresses. They have a dedicated bridal section and I believe they do custom made wedding dresses these do not come cheap but you get what you pay for. The extensive trims section offers glittering diamantes and a fantastic selection of buttons. They really do have everything you need at Bombay stores. The only thing that does start to get irritating after a while is the music as Bollywood tunes really aren't my thing but it's an INdian store so it fits well with the shop.

And this is certainly no bad thing, that's for sure. Although I really dislike that particular phrase, 'yummy mummy' (a bit too cutesy and edible, and almost a patronising way of complimenting women) there is nothing to dislike about the shop itself. In fairness too, the shop name is perfectly adequate to describe what you can expect within. It is a unique concept boutique, which aims to provide mothers with comfortable and fashionable attractive night wear and accessories. Inside you will find all kinds of delightful items, from jewellery to handbags to clothing to accessories, in a beautifully thought out and specially design collection. It's clear from their designs, and from their website, that a lot of passion, creativity and tireless work has gone into making their boutique what it is! Not everything there is to my taste, but these things are always 'each to their own', and I can't actually flaw the product within. From hand made leather brooches, to cute floral reusable PVC bags, to fabric cupcake pin cushions - everything is quirky and delightful! Just reading their ethos on the website is enough to make you fall in love with their work. It seems their aim is to try to change the attitude that once women become mothers they cease to exist sexually, aesthetically and in terms of femininity - a very flawed and painful attitude that continues to rob mothers of their confidence and self worth today. For that alone these guys deserve one hundred stars! They also do yearly charity work, which for an indie shop is truly great (as we all know how indie shops must struggle themselves!) and they even have some great quotes from strong women on their site.
