Not having had children, I am not an expert on Mothercares, so forgive me if I sound a little bit stupid and naive here.
Visiting this Mothercare was quite an experience. I can't really summarise it adequately so I'll just have to go into detail. I came here with some ladies from my work to spend the collection of £150 we'd put together for a colleague we all loved who was going on maternity leave. I was all nonchalant and blasé and 'yeah, babies, whatever, let's just get some bibs and that'. Until I walked through the door.
It's like some kind of different world. I wanted to cry within five minutes. My voice was hoarse from all the 'ooohs' and 'aaaahs' and I couldn't stop pointing at all the teeny tiny booties and t shirts and one-sies.
A plethora of clothing, accessories, cots, blankets, gadgets, toys and other baby stuff, this place is quite something. There's an upstairs that I don't think I could quite have coped with emotionally (plus we overspent by £30 because we got carried away), but there's prolly lots up there too.
