Dr. Richardson and his staff are really exceptional. Literally everyone I encountered was friendly and helpful. My teenage son was scheduled to have his four wisdom teeth pulled at 730 on a Monday morning. He was placed under anesthesia for the procedure. We were in and out in just around an hour and a half. When the procedure was the nurse wheeled my son to the car and assisted me with getting him into the backseat. The amazing customer service continued throughout his recovery and his post-op appointment. All and all a wonderful experience for what is considered such an uncomfortable procedure. I would recommend the Richardsons Center to anyone who needs oral and/or facial surgery.

Initial review (Update pending ongoing dispute):…read more 1/5/2026 - I had an emergency appointment with my general dentist about tooth pain I was experiencing. They did some X-rays and exam and determined there was an infection causing the pain. Due to the condition of the tooth and previous root canal, they gave me referrals to several oral surgeons within the area and told me to get quotes. I pay my dentist out of pocket so I believe she wanted me to compare to ensure I was getting a fair estimate. My journey with Akeso (also listed as Apex) in Columbia starts on Monday (January 5th). They were one of the referrals I received and I later found out a relative went there for an extraction and dental implant. She even did a testimony video for their website. I called to inquire about prices and the process in scheduling an emergency extraction. The person I spoke to was Jenny. She told me I had to have a consultation first and gave me a price. I then asked her the range of how much a tooth extraction can cost. She gave me a price range and suggested using Cherry to finance my treatment plan. I was appreciative because although I was prepared to pay full price for the treatment, paying in installments would be more convenient. I never heard of Cherry before so I told her I would research Cherry and call back. I did research and Cherry seemed reputable and wasn't charging interest for some payment plans, so I kept them in mind. I then called the other referrals provided by my dentist to get quotes on how much the extraction would be. Some were more expensive and two were cheaper. The cheaper surgeons would require full payment, however--so I pondered on whether or not I should just pay the full amount for a cheaper amount or do installments with Akeso. Since my relative had a decent experience, I went with Akeso. I called back to schedule but instead of going to the office in Columbia, it went to their operator. It was close to their closing time, so I didn't fault them for not answering. I gave the operator my information--including the location I wanted the procedure done at and of course my demographics. She told me that she would forward my information to the Columbia office to reach back out to me in order to schedule my appointment--and it could take 24-48 hours. After hearing how long it could take for someone to call me back, I intended to call the office again in the morning. 1/6/2026 - I called the Columbia office again, however, I think I was patched over to the Nottingham office. Melissa answered and I explained to her I spoke to Jenny (Columbia) about having an extraction done and the prices I was quoted. She confirmed. I then told her how Jenny suggested Cherry to me and I was approved--and asked if the consultation fee could be added to the cost of the procedure or if I had to pay separate for it. She told me she had to send a message to the Columbia location to verify. As we waited for a response, she said she wanted to check the system to see if any of my information was there from when I spoke to the operator and it wasn't. So I gave her all the information all over again. By the time I finished giving her all the information, she received a response back. The Columbia location verified they can add the consult fee to the total amount billed to Cherry. We then scheduled for me to go in the office the next day for consult. She told me she was going to send a link and I needed to fill out my medical history, sign consent forms and. sed a copy of my referral and X-rays. I asked which provider I was going to see and she informed me it would be Dr. Lazer. After the call, I filled out the online and forms and submitted them. I also sent a copy of my X-rays and referral to the email address they instructed me to send them to. 1/7/2026 - My appointment was for 9:30am. I arrived at 9:27am. The outside of the facility looks very plain but the inside was more modern. It was clean and I saw one other (potential) patient, in the waiting room. I was immediately greeted by Selena. I met her at the front desk to check in and confirm my details. We discussed briefly what I was there for and she proceeded to collect the consult fee upfront. I mentioned how I spoke to Melissa the day prior and inquired about if the consult fee could be added to the total plan amount with Cherry and it was verified by message that I could. Selena confirmed it was true and said they would update everything and send it to Cherry when I make my downpayment. She then gestured for me to wait in the waiting room to be called back into the exam room. The exam room was spacious, with one other person. I didn't have to wait long to be called back. The medical (?) assistant called me back to a room and briefly went over my medical history and asked if I was experiencing any pain. After going over my history, she left to get the surgeon, Dr. Lazer. *Yelp limits review length. Full review in photos.*

I underwent extensive oral surgery and, as a physician myself, I have very high standards for care--especially regarding communication, attention to detail, and pre-, intra-, and post-procedure management. From my very first interaction, I felt completely confident in Dr. Lyn's expertise and his team's professionalism. Every step of the process was handled with compassion, precision, and genuine concern for me as a person, not just a patient. The office staff were incredibly responsive, knowledgeable, and reassuring, making the entire experience seamless despite my demanding schedule and limited recovery time. Dr. Lyn's calm confidence, technical skill, and thorough explanations set him apart from any other provider I've encountered. He made sure I understood every aspect of my procedure and recovery plan, and his post-operative follow-up was exceptional. Akeso Oral Surgery and Dr. Trevann Lyn are truly outstanding in every way--an example of what patient-centered excellence should be. I recommend them without reservation and with the highest degree of professional and personal confidence.

He is seemingly working on 3-4 patients at any given time, moving back and forth quickly and seamlessly. He has done some fillings for me in the past and they always come out well (as opposed to the ones where your bite just isn't quite right after wards for a week or two). I went to him pretty randomly because he takes my company's insurance (which is Canadian, and hard to find providers for) but have been very pleased with my service there. I have referred about 5 co-workers and they are all equally happy. Karas also gets points for having a super cute team of dental hygienists, and admin support. If it was one really hot girl you chalk it up to randomness, but when its like 5 for 5 I tip my hat to the man and say "well done sir". Either there is something in the water, or Karas has a very discerning eye for hiring not only the best dental talent, but also the best eye candy. Its a nice perk when going to the dentist!

I recently moved to the area and received a flyer in the mail advertising this dentist. I called…read moreand asked if they took my insurance and the response was that they took all insurances. That should have been my clue to move on, but then we wouldn't have this review. I asked to schedule a cleaning and X-rays. They were able to fit me in two and a half weeks later. I received a two pocket folder in the mail with paperwork to fill out. Basically background, insurance, and questionnaires on headaches. Day of the "suppose cleaning", I arrived at the office which was empty except for me, the secretary, the dentist, and a technician. I received a tour of the building and was shown the room where the cleanings took place; however, the dentist hygienist was off on Fridays. At this point I should have left, but I guess I was in shock. I replied that I had scheduled a cleaning and the response was, " Oh the doctor will go over that with you". I was then taken back and had X-rays completed. The doctor came in and for the next hour I went though a series of what I like to call, "the chamber of horrors". At one point they needed an extra set of hands so I assisted in stretching my mouth out for a procedure that I was told the insurance would pay for. At the end of a two hour whatever that was, I was handed their policy. Their policy basically stated that you were responsible for the total bill. Then it was your responsibly to file the claim with your insurance to get reimbursed. Why was this not stated before the services were rendered? I would have not scheduled or left before they could complete any services. Now I am responsible for the $99.00 dollars, which is apparently a great deal. What's a greater deal is billing the insurance correctly where I don't have to pay out of pocket. This is why I have TWO insurance premiums taken out of my check every two weeks. They did say that as a courtesy that they would bill my insurance; however, that was a mess and I will leave it at that. I am not sure where these other great reviews came from, perhaps people needing crowns. I just needed a cleaning and a new primary dentist, this practice is not the one.

This office is the exact opposite. Linda treats you like a person the minute she sits down with you. She will be honest at the get go and doesn't hold "bad news" until the end of the visit like most dentists. She also doesn't bully you into treatments, especially with the "You must get this treated ASAP or your teeth will rot out instantly!" line that so many dentists try to use to freak people out into getting things done. If something isn't deadly urgent, she doesn't make it out that way. All in all, I used to get really stressed about the dentist and now, it's no big deal. I have to get something fixed after today's appointment, but the way Linda presented it made me feel okay about it versus other dentists who have almost tried to make me feel guilty despite being an avid brusher.
