My elderly mother recently had a consult with Dr. Garden, in preparation for her getting dentures. The doctor explained to her what the process would be like and was very patient and answered all of our questions because my mother was a little anxious about the process. He explained that there were certain things she had to do before we could move forward and schedule the extractions. The front desk staff, Shannon specifically, was also phenomenal. From the moment I called to place the appointment and asked her many questions, to when we arrived, and she helped get us checked in and settled, she was great. Very friendly and personable, but also very knowledgeable and professional. This dentist is obviously very popular based on the amount of people that were there. However, even though he was running behind, the staff kept us informed and were still very efficient. But despite that, he did not rush us, and he answered all of our questions. If you need to have any teeth extracted, and you find him on your own or get a referral, I would not hesitate to reach out because it was a very positive experience, and we definitely feel more comfortable about returning when my mother is ready to have her teeth extracted. read more

While Dr. Garden's services were covered by my insurance, the $500 CT scan performed in his office was not. His office neglected to disclose this and did not respond when I followed up by phone. My insurance company said I did not need to pay this, but his office still insisted on payment. This is a scam. read more

Saw me for an emergency appointment. Literally felt like i was dying. Didn't know where else to turn and his office fit me in. Its very expensive and the wait times are crazy but with the amount of pain I was in none of that didn't matter. I feel like he saved my life honestly. read more

This dental practice is a joke. I made an appointment to see Dr. Garden to remove failing implants. They took (what they called) a ct scan which is really a panoramic xray. when i saw Dr. Garden he informed me the implants had to come out ASAP or they could break my lower jawbone. The good doctor also chose to inform me it would cost in excess of $5000. Of course I trusted what was told to me and told the girl handling the case to set up the surgery. When I left I was handed a bill for $680 - $495 for the panoramic xray and$185 for the office visit. The next few days I heard nothing so I called and ask for a progress report but the person handling my case was not available so I ask to have her phone me when she is available; of course she never called back. I phoned again and finally spoke to the person handling the case and she told me they are having a scheduling problem at the hospital as it is 'blocked' I asked what blocked means but she did not know (or at least she said she did not know). I left 2 more days go by and still noting from Dr. Garden's office. I called the office again and was again told there was no one available but they would call me back but again no one ever called. Finally my failed implants fell out on their own with no intervention at all - no pain and no blood. I would never recommend this practice to anyone including all animals. It seems to me their main interest (Including the Dentist) is primarily money and NOT the well being of the patient. read more

I called Dr. Garden's office to see if they could squeeze me in for a molar extraction since other places had told me it would be a month or more before they could get me in. They were able to bring me in a couple of days later and were very reassuring and efficient in removing the offending tooth. The procedure itself took about 1.5 minutes! read more

The staff is super friendly and helpful. They prepare you well for your visit with Dr Garden. Dr Garden himself is very pleasant. His demeanor is very nice. He explained each step of the procedure and he made me feel relaxed with his light banter. My tooth removal was fantastic. The only pain in the entire process was the slight pinch of the needle to start the numbing process. It was an overall good experience. I highly recommend Dr. Garden and his staff. read more

I went to Dr. Richard Garden, DDS, to have a wisdom tooth removed. During the consultation he explained exactly what was going to happen and gave me the prescriptions (pain/antibiotic) I would need after surgery. This allowed me to go home after surgery and not running to the pharmacy. Dr. Garden and his Staff at Chesapeake Oral Surgery Associates were kind and attentive and very informative. I had little pain during procedure and thanks to already having the prescriptions filled I was able to control the pain after the numbing medication wore off. I went to Garden Richard B DDS to have a tooth pulled and implant. I was so displeased with the service I stopped service and completed elsewhere. Dr. Garden is ok. Staff is horrible. You can tell by the staff's (front office as well as tech staff) attitude that the work environment is bad which makes the entire staff I encountered bitchy. Front desk personnel gave no information about my service until day of arrival even though I walked in weeks before to make appt. They got me in the chair and then informed me of the charges. I was to have a three visit procedure totaling several thousand dollars. They would not start until I paid for the first part in its entirety. I paid the grand for the first procedure. At the end of the first procedure I was informed they could miraculously complete the second procedure (at first visit) if I could pay. I told them I didn't have the money in the bank but would pay if they billed me. They told me no check that day = no service that day. Then they pushed me out the door with a packet of gauze, still bleeding profusely from the pulled tooth. It took the whole packet of gauze over the next few hours to stop the bleeding. I wonder how they treat those who are on anticoagulants? Also, Garden Richard B DDS is the type of business that places a 4'x8' Donald Trump sign in front of its building. It makes all the sense in the world that this business chooses to back such a political disaster. Goes hand in hand with the poor attitude, greed, and lack of empathy I encountered. All that is undetermined is the low IQ status commensurate with the espoused political demographic. read more

Had the referral, then, after wrangling the insurance company a bit, got my four wisdom teeth yanked. The procedure was surprisingly quick (half an hour!) and they put me in a wheelchair and brought me to my car. Their anaesthesiologist must be a pro, because while my friends all claimed to be loopy when they come out from under I was immediately lucid and probably could've stood on my own. They gave a bunch of thorough information, which has been rather helpful thus far. Also, Dr. Garden is a genuinely cool guy, and he and his staff really seem to be a great team; it was kind of like being on an episode of House, minus the grumpy old man thing. Dr. Garden was recommended to me by my ortho. He (my ortho) said, "You'll like him." I didn't think I would like anyone who would be removing three of my pearly whites, but I was wrong. Dr Garden came with high recommendations from few friends for wisdom teeth removal. We have Two adult children 19 and 21 wanted to do the experience together. Dr Garden accommodated them and did their surgeries about an hour or two apart. Both went under anesthesia Recovery was awesome neither kid was super drugged up and pretty alert and steady on their feet after. Daughter surgery was so smooth and recovery even smoother, a lot of rest and ice. Son was a bit more complicated and in a lot of pain at first but recovery again became smooth. Great staff great experience for having to do it, also highly recommend getting your child's wisdom teeth out with this great trusted team. read more

In 2016 my then 16 year old daughter had her wisdom teeth extracted by dr gardner. Despite the fact we had a scheduled appt to meet with gardner we waited over an hour for him to provide us with 5 minutes of explanation. Only after her father complained enough. We were told by the front office that they had run the insurance and we were responsible for the remaining amount prior to her surgery. We paid the amount in full. It is now 2019 and last week my daughter,now 20 and in college, received a TEXT MESSAGE from Andrew telling her if she did not pay the unpaid debt they would could ruin her credit. This obviously made me mad and I called Andrew and demanded he apologize to my daughter first and second that he not contact her because she was a minor at the time of surgery. His response was that she is now an adult and is responsible. After yelling a bit more I asked to have a copy of all the i.formation including any other attempts to collect said debt. Andrew said he would TEXT this information to me. I insisted that it be mailed as any professional office would do. I verified the address they had in record. Today I received another phone call from Andrew starting that I've now had time to review the documentation and should call him to discuss payment or my credit would be at risk. I intend to do this tomorrow as I have NOT received anything from this office. Just to be clear the debt he claims we owe is $97.00. I realize this is not a lot however threatening my daughter and myself 3 years after surgery is completely unprofessional and inappropriate. I would never recommend this practice for anything. My 12 year old daughter had to have 4 baby teeth removed. From the consultation to the oral surgery everything was done amazingly well! She has a huge phobia of needles and Dr. Garden and the staff put her at ease. Knowing we were on a huge time crunch due to her having musical concerts, and high school auditions soon, they tried to accommodate our schedule, and we were cutting it close. Dr Garden and his staff are very friendly yet professional and competent. I was well educated on my procedure, so I knew what to expect. They provided me with my prescriptions ahead of time. Written and verbal instruction were clear and they ensured I understood them before I left. My procedure went quickly with almost no discomfort. The waiting room is nicely decorated with a few interesting medical antiques, and comfortable. I feel I am in good hands there, keeping my stress about dental surgery at a minimum. Also the t.v. I was lucky enough to be referred to Dr Garden for a major dental procedure; pulling of 9 teeth and implanting a total of 7 implants all in one surgery. I cannot say enough good things about Dr Garden, his staff, the practice and my outcome which was stellar. Dr Garden did a great job; quick, thorough and flawless; all my implants are doing very well. He worked very closely with Dr Davliakos who later created and implanted my false teeth and the results are amazing. I was truly terrified to have this huge procedure done, and the staff was so comforting and so competent along with Dr Garden who explained everything very well and really treated me as if I was the most important patient.
