I absolutely loved my experience at this office. When I made the appointment-of course I thought "eek new dentist-going to get shamed on my cleaning needs", I cringed, sucked it up, & went....but the visit far exceeded my expectations. I have to start back at scheduling the appointment- I had recently attempted to go to a dentist near by-filled out all the pre-visit forms, put my requirements (i.e pregnant-no x-rays, swollen gums, etc). When I got to the office they clearly did not read any history-& the visit was a frustrating mess in which they turned me away. When scheduling with this office, the process was so easy- they really listened, got a history & asked about my preferences being seen. I was checked in quickly, brought to the back, & was immediately given a fun goody bag! During the cleaning, my tech talked me through the process-explaining what she was scrapping, why I was feeling swollenness, & giving advice on brushing. She sent me home with great tips for specific care, including a customized toothbrush for my back wisdom molar pocket. I felt very informed. read more

When you walk into an establishment, you never really know what to expect until interaction takes place. From the time I entered the office till departure, it truly felt like visiting family. High anxiety has always been a part of my past dental visits during my childhood (military dependent) thru active duty. Not the case here! We are new to the area and after a disaster trip for my daughter to Strong Smiles Odenton, I found this group of dentists. I found everyone at this office to be very professional and friendly. They practice good infection control and I was very pleased with the dental hygienist who cleaned my teeth. Do not recommend! I saw Dr. Woods after not having dental insurance for several years and I knew I had several cavities. The staff was pretty rude including Dr. Woods, who would not tell me what was going on with my mouth when I asked specifically and only talked to her hygienist. She was very abrasive and chastised me at every appointment about my bad teeth, which I am aware of and it made me feel embarrassed. I feel this was completely unnecessary. I had some work done, about 4 cavities filled and I am in more pain now than I was prior to the procedure. She drilled down so deep my root was affected and she probably should have stopped and referred me to root canal, as I found out after consulting with a root canal specialist my family in another state. I went in against my better judgement to have more cavities filled and complained of pain in an area where she said I couldn't have pain, again indicating the need for a root canal per the specialist because there was nerve damage. She tried to go ahead with the filling but couldn't numb me and was still pushing me to get the work done even after I was in tears. I left the office and immediately burst into tears and I haven't been back. I am so terrified of dental work now that I do not want to get more work even though I have to. In addition I spoke with my brother in law who had cavities filled by Dr. Leary and he had the same complaints of pain after the fillings. read more

This review is for Dr. Tamara A Leary only, I have not seen another dentist there, ever. Dr. Leary is an excellent dentist. She really knows her stuff. When a dentist messed up my root canal, Dr. Leary referred me to an excellent specialist who fixed what Dr. Dwight Berry in Glen Burnie, MD messed up. However the front desk staff is a mixed bag as are the hygienist. Some of the hygienist can be nice, however, I had a procedure done and product was left on my face. I then walked to the front desk and the person checking me out didn't even look at me once. Since she didn't look at me, I was unaware that crap was left on my face until I got to my car. Typically the hygienist cleans you up...While I did call and complain (and I'm glad they at least called me back) I feel like a good dentist like Dr. Leary should have an exceptional staff to match and it can be a mixed bag, I wouldn't call them awful but there is room for improvement. read more

I went to see Dr. Woods in September only went twice and NEVER again! I wish I checked out some of the reviews on here prior to my appointments. I have Insurance , however my Insurance has a waiting period for certain work that needs to be done . Now I don't remember first of all when exactly I signed up for this Insurance and second what waiting period is for what type of work done in my mouth ! Previous Dentist staff made me aware of these type of things . I had 2 fillings done by Dr.Woods Sept. 22nd they told me my responsibility was $130 . Couple weeks later I get a bill in the mail for $420 . I called the Insurance which was VERY helpful and come to find out the fillings weren't covered since the waiting period for that type of work was until OCTOBER 1st ...I asked the office staff why they didn't make me aware of this . All they said was that this is not their responsibility to tell me . BUT ISTNT IT YOUR RESPONSIBILTY to keep patients happy and wanting to come back ..Then they held my xrays hostage and blackmailed me if I don't pay the bill they will not forward my xrays to the next dentist I would switch to . While Dr.Woods was working on my teeth she had a personal conversation with her assistant , like I am not even there . It may not bother some but that to me is arrogant and disrespectful . The work she did was good but everything else in that office is just soooooo wrong . very unprofessional and rude !!!! read more

Dr. Burroughs was my dentist. I was sad to have to leave due to my husbands job we had to move. I hate the dentist but did not mind coming here at all. I was extremely anxious coming to this appointment. I hadn't been to the dentist in over five years, and the last dentist's office I went to was not the best experience. I was shaking as soon as they called my name back. However, from the start I was comforted. The x-ray technician helped me relax. Then Dr. Woods came in and introduced herself and also put me at ease. She explained everything as she was going which made me feel a lot better. The office was nice, the front desk staff super friendly, my hygienist explained everything really well, gave me a great cleaning, and was really friendly. I have been going to this practice for over 10 years Amy is the best hygienist. Always explains everything. Dr. Burroughs is an awesome dentist. She has fit me in for a tooth extraction that needed to be done right away even though she was already out of the office on leave. Recently, she fit me immediately for a filling I needed done. She also provided excellent care to my mother who had many health issues and took her time with her and made sure she was comfortable at all times. Sometime during two unsatisfactory attempts at a root canal, Dr Learhy perforated the bottom of my tooth. She did not tell me but instead referred me to an endodontist. When I went to the specialist, the tooth was infected and I was told to find an oral surgeon and have the tooth extracted "tomorrow". Do NOT wait they said. I have been in pain for over a year but I spite of my complaints I was told to "give it some time". So here I am, pain, no tooth, and now the expense of an implant. I have other unpleasant history with this dentist but I think that's enough said. read more

I visited Dr. Leary's office recently after 8 years of not going to the dentist. I finally caved and went to Dr. Leary's office because I had some gum irritation. I expected the worst, after such a long absence from dental care. I was quickly comforted however, by the friendly, clean, welcoming atmosphere of this dental office. My hygienist, Teresa, was very sympathetic to my anxiety, and she went out of her way to make me comfortable by explaining every single thing that she was doing to my mouth. I underwent a complete x-ray battery, thorough cleaning, and an examination by Dr. Woods. The staff couldn't have been more comforting or polite. I highly recommend this office for your dental work. A friend recommended this dentist office and yesterday was my first visit. Immediately when I walked in the door I was greeted by Tiara and another young lady. Check-in was swift and I was introduced to Sarah who took my x-rays and explained exactly what she was doing and what this new technology would show. Next I was greeted by Teresa my hygienist who explained her process as she was assisted by Kayla who later walked me out and confirmed that I had made my follow-up appointment. I must not forget Dr. Woods who was absolutely lovely and pointed out something that no other dentist had seen. Alyssa assisted me with the check out process and again confirmed that I had made a follow-up appointment. I was given a print out of my bill and next appointment date. This was the best experience I have had with a dentist office. Everyone was so personable and welcoming. The atmosphere was apparent as soon as walking through the front door. I began seeing Dr Leary many years ago and brought my four children in every six months. I liked the doctor so much, I had my husband change dentists and go to her and my father in law began seeing her as well. Through the years as the practice began to grow the service declined. Dr Leary was wonderful but the staff in the office became increasingly rude. After many years I decided to find another practice when a staff member was heard making rude comments about how we were interrupting her lunch. I was made to feel unwelcome and uncomfortable. When I voiced my discontent - I was told to ignore her. Not the response I was looking for. Never received an apology or a call from the doctor. They lost seven customers that day. I used to like Dr. Leary and the way she treats patients; however, the way they rush through dental cleaning is terrible. The first time, they managed everything in 15 minutes.
