OMG! This place is amazing! We just moved to FL. Marks was suggested by a friend for our anniversary dinner. I am a pescatarian, hubby a carnivore. He had the filet with a lobster tail, I the salmon with a mango salad. He, the French onion soup, I Ceasar salad as appetizers. Plus the fresh baked sour dough bread, served hot! It was all EXCELLENT! WE HAD THE CREAMED spinach as a side, so delightfully delicious! His steak and lobster were cooked perfectly, he even got a 2nd meal out of it! Mine, possibly the best salmon I've ever eaten! I got 3 meals out of it, the piece was big. They knew it was our anniversary, and served us a wonderful, decadent dark chocolate covered mousse. First time dining at mark's steakhouse and it was pretty exciting. First i have to give big credit to the bartender who was patient and helpful in making a specialty drink that i didn't remember quite exactly the equal parts. She offered great suggestions and improvised with a knockout of a drink that was perfect. My other comment is for Lexy the waitress... we were a party if three and already had a few at the bar so we were not the easiest group to be taking an order from. Lexy was the consummate professional and handled our indecisiveness with patience, a smile and phenomenal service. I ordered the filet mignon with mashed potatoes. My wife ordered the lobster escargot and coconut shrimp with a cedar salad. I think our friend ordered Pittsburgh filet mignon and soup. I'll review my order as I'm sure the others in our party will post their own reviews. The filet mignon was excellent. I usually need a steak sauce but not tonight. This filet was so delicious i wish i ordered one to go! Downright delicious, but downright pricey as well. For my budget this is a once in a very blue moon special occasion pricey. But hey, you get what you pay for and the steak was superb. The mashed potatoes on the other hand were just ok. Not much flavor and leaving new feeling like i should have ordered a different side. But that streak and the atmosphere and whole experience was very upscale. The ambiance is very upscale and romantic, and i might add a great place to woo and impress a potential client for business. I wasn't going to write this review. It's been a few weeks since I went to Mark's Prime Steakhouse. I don't live in town and met up with friend for dinner. I had a wonderful dinner. I was disappointed we weren't able to wait for a table, so reservations are highly recommended. We sat at the bar, and the girl who served us was wonderful. Some of the best customer service I have ever experienced, she was lively, friendly, funny, small brown haired girl. She gave me her name, I don't remember it. The drink she made me was tasty and she was busy and fun to watch work. The steak was cooked to perfection. The prices were so reasonable I questioned if the steak was prime, but as soon as it cut like butter, my expectations were blown away. The flavors blended so well. Nothing was over seasoned, nothing was over powering. WOW! There was an unspoken elephant in the room. I experienced this restaurant to be very male chauvinistic. 95% of the staff I saw was male. I watched a bald waiter interrupt my order by barking orders at my bartender, He repeated this action a few times. HIs disrespect for her made me uncomfortable. My bartender asked her male coworkers to get my bread 3 or 4 times. They would walk away, and I watched bread being served to tables behind me. The bartender told me the bread was cooking in the oven and would be out when it was ready, but it was obvious she was trying to cover for her coworkers incompetency. The male bartender complained a lot about his commute. He sounded like he needed sympathy and wanted to be the victim. I figured he needed sympathy tips. You could tell he wasn't well trained and knew very little about what he was doing. I know restaurants are hurting for staff, but I expect a lot more from a fine dining restaurant. I'm not out spending money to listen to a bartenders traffic problems. I'm writing this review now because my girlfriend went to Mark's Prime again this week and she had a different female bartender who was blond, and attentive. My friend had the same experience as I did with the males in the restaurant barking orders and obviously not wanting to be there, while the females carry the restaurant. It's important for management to be aware that your patrons are traveling from areas where a woman's movement for equal rights is already taking place, and the level of bigotry, incompetency, and a corrupt culture is very apparent. I understand there is a hiring crisis, but maybe support your best and forget the rest. Even with your wonderful menu, some of those warm bodies you have hired are driving customers away with their cave man mindset and entitlements. read more

This is my second time to marks prime in 2 months. In April we celebrated my fathers 80th birthday. I specifically told the hostess to tell our waitress that we were celebrating a birthday. We ordered dessert and nothing. I finally mentioned to a manager about the birthday and he brought a piece of chocolate dessert and we sang happy birthday. I was there tonight 2 months later celebrating my mothers 80th birthday. Mentioned to the hostess of a not busy restaurant (5:45) and again nothing. Same lovely waitress coincidentally both times (Dylan or Devon) The lobster tails though quite large were salty as was my fathers lamb chops that reportedly had no seasoning on them. Even the bread was too dry to warrant a second serving. It will be awhile before they return to this very expensive restaurant that is clearly the place for steak and definitely not a place that likes to celebrate birthdays. read more

Food and service were very good. Service 5 food 4 of 5. Big issues is they don't control business frontage. Parking is a major issue and some of the walk by traffic (if you dine outside) is "colorful". I would recommend dining inside. Food prep very nice. I recommend but dine inside if you can. read more

Food was very good although uneven, spices in soups and sauces vary between trips. Service has gone way downhill with the new owners. They didn't have our favorite wine and the server actually said "next time bring your own bottle ". We ordered the desert trio which is a platter with 3 small desserts just enough to sample. The manager came over and said "we didn't sell enough so we don't carry it anymore ". No alternative no apologies. Great place to eat and relax in Downtown Ocala. Beautiful atmosphere, dark wood everywhere, great lighting, perfect service. We love to take visitors to Mark's when we need a quiet place to entertain and talk. Their Happy Hour is surprisingly affordable and fun. While on a business trip in Tampa, I got a call from an old friend who I haven't seen in 23 yrs. He lives near Ocala and invited me to dinner at Mark's Prime. It is about 1.5 hrs outside of Tampa. Parking - Complimentary valet parking is available next to the restaurant or you can park in metered parking spots across the street around the park. Appetizers - We had bacon wrapped scallops and beef tartare. The beef tartare was outstanding. My friend and his wife had the scallops and said they were awesome. Entree - I had the Filet...the steak was awesome! Sides are a la carte and the serving size is huge. We shared a side of sauteed mushrooms. Dessert - We didn't have enough room for it. Service - The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Our water glasses were always full. Wine selection - This is what prevented me from rating this place 5 stars. I thought they should have had a better selection of wine. The wine we had was good, but would have enjoyed more choices. Would I come back? To Mark's Prime, yes....to Ocala, FL....not sure. I'm confused by the bad reviews, and maybe its because I went with a few regulars. The waiter knew everyone by name and even their favorite items on the menu. I also find it amusing that they paid with gift cards, like many of them, so to A. J., they definitely sell them. I got a great cab sav and started with a chopped salad, sans bacon, dressing on the side. They got it perfect and it was quite tasty. My only complaint would be they were a bit heavy on the red onion, but thats just my opinion. For my entree I had the seared tuna - it was cooked perfect and had a complimenting wasabi sauce on the side. I didn't hear any complaints around the table, and if I'm in Ocala again, I'll certainly return. read more

Went with a group of 6. 5 of us had steak 4 filets and one rib eye. 2 orders medium rare 3 medium and one rare. All were cooked perfectly! The other guest order a chicken dish that he raved about. We ordered several sides for the table including the risotto ,The Brussel sprouts and creamed spinach. All were very good. And because we were celebrating a birthday we all ordered dessert as well. This was my second time at Mark's Prime. The lobster escargot was so delicious that I came back for it despite the unprofessional service I received the first time I visited. The last time I was there, I felt rushed, like they were trying to clear the table so they could seat the next group. I even overheard the hostess tell a waitress to "get them out of here" a couple of times - about more than one table. Extremely unprofessional. I'm glad I returned to give Mark's another shot. The best part of the night was our server, Vicki. She treated us like we were the only people in the restaurant. And if I'm going to spend $200 on a meal, the last thing I want is to feel rushed or ignored. Vicki made us feel welcomed and we were at ease to enjoy our meal. She was quick to serve while never rushing us at all. The truth is - I will only be back because of Vicki - and I plan to call ahead to book on a night she will be working. Ugh. Think I accidentally deleted my review.... But since my wife and I went again I'll just update I guess. We've lived here for a year and finally decided to dine here. We normally eat at the "high end restaurant" that is closer to our house. I tell you we were kicking ourselves for not come here sooner! The extra 15 minute drive is worth it! First, service was outstanding. Our waiter the first time was Daniel. He & the team really made for an outstanding experience. The service is good at the other place we used to go, but not like at Mark's Prime. Mike, whom I believe is one of the managers also added to the experience. They are very attentive. Now the food. The first time I went I had the crab bisque. Excellent. For my main meal I had the 20oz bone in ribeye. WOW! They age the meat which adds to the flavor of the perfectly cook steak. My wife had the Caesar Salad. She loved it. Her main course was the petite filet. That also was perfectly seasoned and cooked. We shared the amazing creamed spinach as wells the bacon roasted brussel sprouts. We finished the night with a desert trio which topped off an amazing experience. The signature Manhattan is really good. Our second experience just 9 days later was just as good. Service again was excellent. (We requested Daniel but he was off that day.) Mike again spent time chatting with us in between courses. This time I had the French Onion Soup to start. That was awesome. Normally it's an overly salty broth, but not here. Again it was perfect. My main meal this time was the Delmonico which I believe is 16oz. Perfectly cooked and excellent flavor. My wife again had the Caesar as well as the petite filet again. Both did not disappoint. Consistency! We shared the creamed spinach again. Yum! And get the black garlic in butter over the steak. It accentuates an already delicious steak. (I do wish they had Foie Gras to put on the steak.) The price compared to our old place which just opened this past year is more expensive and the food quality is not as good. Restuarant offered free valet during the Holiday season. Great location, on a corner right on the downtown square. Had drinks at the bar and then asked to be seated without reservation. Was able to get seating in bar area (over seating outside in smoking section). Getting seated right away was a big plus. Place was getting busy pretty quickly. Bartender was great, friendly and very knowledgable to the variety of drinks be it beer, wine, hard liquor, mixed drinks, etc. Waitress, Lexy, did an awesome job. I couldn't find an entre of just lobster and shrimp, without pasta)so I ordered two appetizers (coconut shrimp with orange ginger sauce and lobster escargot) and a ceasar salad. The bread with the lobster dish was very hard, so hard you could loose a tooth. Lobster bites a bit chewy(too over done for me) but the shrimp was very very good. The salad was good but could of had a bit more dressing. Place has very low lighting, appears clean, smells good inside, bathrooms are clean. Went to happy hour at Mark's tonight. The bartenders were great, but once we were moved to a table we had to beg to be waited on. When we were half way through being happy, our waitress then dropped our bill off and kept walking. We hailed her back over and told her we weren't finished, and she said she could add. Then informed us that computer didn't allow more orders on happy hour while looking at her watch go from 6:59 to 7 (with an attitude). Training in customer service needed. A shame. Great place. As a tourist from NY, I thought the food was amazing (the tuna tartare, two broiled lobster tails, filet mignon and banana bread pudding- with vanilla ice cream). I only come here 1x/year to celebrate with friends. Usually the experience is GREAT, however, this time the food was still great but the experience, not as good as normal. It started okay but we returned a bottle of wine and things seemed to get awkward. They did allow us to purchase a different bottle but they had another, rather "in your face" male server as if that would intimidate us into not complaining. All was fine but had they simply had our regular server bring the new bottle (after she got the approval), all would have been fine. In any case, our server (Lexi) was good. read more

So tonight I'm at Mark's Prime Steakhouse. I have been here before, but left less than impressed. Tonight I'm having their Caeser Salad with their Caeser dressing, garlic croutons, and shaved Parm. It was excellent. For my entrée I have chosen the Filet Mignon. Now I prefer a medium rare, but at the servers suggestion I have chosen rare plus served on a 500 degree plate. To accompany I will choose their twice baked potato. And Bernese Sauce for my beef. And a glass of their house Cabernet. The food arrived as it should. The beef was perfect and an actual piece of prime beef. The potato was a whole potato that had been baked, scooped out and blended with cheese, sour cream, and scallions then filled topped with bacon and cheese and baked again. The wine was full bodied with flavors of black cherry, oak and raspberry. A truly wonderful meal. I will say it is a little pricey, but you get what you pay for. A true white tablecloth restaurant with a professional wait staff. After this meal and observing the parties around me, I highly recommend this restaurant. A really wonderful meal.
