The counter where you order and the menu is above. There's a variety of desserts to the right in a cold refrigerated case.

After pickleball couldn't decide where to eat but I knew I wanted a burger. Mark's outing was the perfect place with just the right amount of food. Price wise it's about average for lunch $9 to $12. We got there at 12:30 not so crowded but toward 1 o'clock more people walked into the restaurant.. The restaurant has good lighting and it's welcoming. The staff was very attentive as soon as we walked up to the counter to order. Theres soft music playing. Also, there's a good amount of seats comfortable enough. Mark's outing gives a home visit meal type of place.

Inside restaurant. Wall full of photos of people that have attempted The Lineman Burger

If you're a fan of mouthwatering burgers; this is your place!! Mark's Outing serves up great burgers that are put together very well. The burgers are juicy and flavorful. The Heisman offers bacon, avocado and melty cheese on the Heisman burger that ties it all together beautifully. The buns are fresh and hold up well without getting soggy; and let's not forget the tots--crispy and golden, making them the perfect sidekick to any burger you order. The friendly service and celebratory environment make it fun place. Photos are lined throughout the restaurant of those that take on 'The Lineman'; which is a 2lb burger with all the fixings. Having Kool-Aid as an option is the cherry on top. Highly recommend for any burger lover!

This is a decent sized burger place that you can't miss as you're driving down Commerce from Downtown. As you walk in, there are hundreds of photos of customers eating the 2lb burger, all posted on the walls. I took my colleague here to try the burger on a recent work trip. As other reviewers mention, there is the soda fountain, iced tea dispensers, lemonade, and also 2 flavors of Kool Aid. They also have a cold case at the register where they keep their desserts. Of course i had to try Mama Joyce's banana pudding. I ordered the linebacker burger, 1 lb, with everything, and I also had to try their beans and the dessert. Service was very friendly right from the beginning as some of the servers and owners are African American and treat you like family. The restrooms are not all that obvious and are kind of hiding, so just keep walking around until you find them through a white door. My burger came out from the kitchen much later than 3 other customers orders who came in after me, but I can understand it takes a while to cook a thick patty. They did forget to bring both my colleagues and my dessert as they have a helper in the kitchen delivering the burgers, different from the person taking your order. How did the burger taste? Well, mine was large and very attractive and reminiscent of a typical San Antonio burger with cheddar cheese flowing everywhere. At 1 lb, the patty easily extends past the bun on all sides. I wasn't a big fan of the bun, although it held the sandwich together well. The patty is not seasoned all that much, but has a faint taste of worchestershire sauce. The beans were not that great, as I thought there were more salty than anything. There are supposedly "famous". I guess they haven't tried Lupe Tortilla's beans before as I think those are way more addicting. I was also not impressed with the banana pudding, it was your standard Nila wafers, pudding mix and sliced bananas. Nothing seemed to be homemade about it....just put together. My colleague was also pretty critical of his kiddie size burger. He only ordered a 1/4 lb basic burger and thought it tasted like a burger he wouldn't drive out of his way for by any means. He did seem to like his peach cobbler, though.

1/4 lb Mushroom burger with onion rings & BBQ wings.

Had the 1/4 lb mushroom burger with onion rings and an order of BBQ chicken wings. Dessert was chocolate cake. Food was made quickly, served nice and hot.

Delicious. Owner is always friendly and smiling. Known for burgers. These are juicy and they taste great. I like the photos on the ways of everyone trying the 2lb burger. The Mushroom Swiss was amazing. My husband got the 1 lb burger and it was huge. It was delicious as well. I liked the grape koolaid. Great music playing in the back ground as well. Love it.

    Best onion rings.

Heading to the Spurs game, trying to figure out what to eat, my wife and I landed on Mark's Outing. Never been here before, but I heard good things. Turned out this place was the best call I made all day. Super friendly staff. The burger was thick and juicy. The onion rings were huge and crispy. No doubt this will be a pregame ritual from now on.

Jalapeno Cheese Burger with Tater Tots
    William B.

The fresh bread on the buns and the quality beat created to order for the jalapeno cheeseburger made it outstanding. A slight taste of onion in the tater tots that were cooked well done was also pleasant. Parking is to the side of the restaurant although there is a parking available for free alongside of Commerce Street. This is a mom and pop kind of restaurant with a friendly staff and good quality food at reasonable prices. The atmosphere in the interior is full of photographs of customers with big hamburgers. There is hardly an inch left uncovered without photos which can be kind of fun. You pay first at the cashier then you are seated anywhere you want that's available and food is brought to your table. So does an iced tea are available at a soda fountain on your own. There were plenty of local people eating at the restaurant and almost no tourists because this is kind of out of the way from the nearby tourist areas in downtown San Antonio.

This is by far the best burger I've had in along time and it's was hot! The music was great and the service was fast. My family and I are definitely coming back to this joint!

My husband and son could literally eat a burger on the daily-so we drove downtown- parking wasn't bad at all and as far as safety, I didn't feel the least bit unsafe especially during the day. This is counter service- order and they will bring it to your table. I ordered a regular cheeseburger and my boys ordered the heisman. The buns were soft and slightly sweet but the star of the show was the meat patty- full of flavor and just, well, tasty. Do yourself a favor if you are a burger fan and check this place out!

    The Two Pounder!
    Marcos D.

This hamburger at two pounds was well seasoned and flavorful but came with minimal amounts of sauce, pickles, and lettuce perhaps because of the small bun. This was a first for me because usually buns are too large. The effect of a preponderance hamburger was tedious half way through because of the lack of sauce, pickles, and lettuce. The service and atmosphere is welcoming and very friendly raising the rating from 3 to 4. I will be back to try their signature burger.

Plenty of parking. It has sort of a retro feel on the inside. There are photos of the hungry folks who ate the 2lb burger! I could barely finish the 1lb burger. The staff made some great recommendations since it was our first time eating here. The burger was bigger than the bun, and I had to cut it in half to eat it. I'm not a messy eater, so that's why I cut it in half. It was thick and juicy, like a good burger should be! I'll definitely be back. The red kool-aid is a must-have! Sweet, sweet, sweet, and good, like I remember as a kid. I could chill in here all day!

Everything came out quickly, the service was smooth, and the whole menu felt approachable. I enjoyed the crawfish roll, which is a really nice alternative to the crab roll. Almost every time I see crawfish that's been peeled be someone else on a menu, I get pretty excited. Anyway, it served with the made-in-house hot sauce mixed with the drawn butter. Yummy. The fries were especially good, and dessert really surprised us. The carrot cake is very mild on the spice side, which actually let the textures shine, especially the brittle on top. It was incredibly light, crunchy, and honestly the best part of the dessert. We also appreciated how efficient everything was. Houston kept me fed, but I always felt like something was missing. Moved to San Antonio and bro... I was LOST. To get that full burger penetration, the juicy deep-dive you actually crave, you gotta pull up to Pumpers. This place is like the engineered lab version for us adults who grew up on Dirty's and Lankford. They took everything we loved about those classic greasy spoons--the loose, coarse, fatty beef balls smashed thin on that screaming hot griddle for the crispy lacy edges, the cheese melting into every crevice, that potato/milk bun sopping up all the grease and juices without falling apart--and turned it into straight PERFECTION.
