Jeff came out my appointment was at 8:00am he showed up at 8:00am and that was a great start. He said to put a new motor in it would be about 2 1/2 hrs and it was 2hrs and he explained the workings of the new motor along with helping me set the remote in my car with out a problem all in all I was very happy with the service I got. I'm so disappointed to be writing a negative review for a local company but I have to share my recent experience. Two weeks ago my garage door failed after hours. The door came off the tracks and the cable was wrapped up in the door. I called Mark's because they had fixed the same issue a few years ago and I trusted them. The next day, Jeff came out and spent about an hour and a half fixing the door to the tune of $225. I asked Jeff if the work was guaranteed and he said "for about 2 weeks." Eight days later, the exact same thing happened. Two of my neighbors, both contractors, helped me get the door closed. I called Mark's and he and Jeff came out the next morning. Long story short, they refused to fix the door or refund my money. They stated it was a faulty door and track and they could install a new one but would not take any money off. Is it me or is this really poor customer service. They literally couldn't have cared less. Both my neighbors said there was nothing wrong with my garage door and that it just wasn't fixed correctly. I work for a large local company but I will not be able to recommend this company in the future. read more

Highly recommend Marks Garage Doors! They came out the first time to install a new garage door to our home in Petaluma. Our house's foundation and concrete slab in garage was unleveled and quite a challenge for them to install but they did a great job. After we got the foundation fixed we had them come out again to realign it. Again they did a great job! Mark installed my garage door opener in October, 2019. It kept continually beeping when the door was open. I called him three times to report the beeping, and he said it must be the electric outlet where the opener was plugged in. I tested the outlet, it was fine, I finally gave up complaining to him, since he never did anything. He never came out again to figure out why it was beeping. Fast forward 2025 I'm getting a new garage door and the people I called for estimates all said there was no battery backup on the garage door, which was required by CA law beginning july, 2019. Even Mark came out to give an estimate for new door, and said there was no battery backup on the opener. Then, finally, the last guy to give me a door estimate opened the opener and said there was indeed a battery inside, but it was dead, and if it had been beeping since installation, the battery was faulty when it was installed in 2019. Today Mark wanted $100 to install a new battery. I said no, he should have replaced it when I made the calls to him about the beeping in 2019. He then took out the new battery and left. read more

I had used Mark's for an investment property in Healdsburg over a year ago, and they did a good job, although communication wasn't great. So I called Mark last month for a quote on our primary residence, and set up an appointment to meet on 4/28. I drove an hour to get there, waited over two hours, then drove back to work -- 4 hours wasted. In the meantime, I sent texts and left a voice message, wondering what happened. I received a great price for the purchase and installation of an insulated door. They arrived on time for the job and then made every adjustment with the garage door opener and the new door. I'm giving them 3 stars instead of one because our recent experience may have been a fluke. They almost totally ignored us this time. A panel on our garage door started buckling so I called and a technician came to check it. He said it needed a reinforcing strut and that they'd have to get one. He left without charging for the visit--he would add that charge when the strut arrived. When I didn't hear back for a week or two, I wrote and told them, we OWED for his visit because they apparently couldn't repair the problem. No response even to that--EVER! That was several months ago. Today two panels buckled and the door wouldn't close at all, so we called a company that came on very short notice with all the necessary struts and fixed the door within an hour. We were more than happy with Mark's Door but this experience makes me wonder if they're having staffing problems. In any case we won't use them again. The new company is incredible. read more

Mark came out and assessed the situation quickly. He replaced the worn out sensors. But then he went beyond and balanced something he said was out of whack. He told me the springs were too light for the weight of the door and the motor was old but still working. He could have talked me into a larger repair but said it wasn't called for yet and I might get another few years out of it. He even replaced a burned out light bulb. Ok, I stand corrected. Mark called me when I reviewed with him the issue with the sensor. He still does not like working on Genie garage door openers. Offered Liftmaster along with one other if "motor" was the problem. Ok, asked for recommendation and Mark offered a competitive price for a new motor. Jeff came out ( business is small and local) and tried to fix issue to no avail. Returned the next day and replaced the motor. Yes, not cheap but reasonable and replaced a "dated" motor. Glad I did. Small firm should be supported. Mark's customer service is rated excellent by me. It's nice dealing with an owner/operator. read more
